I'm not sure about this. the problem is that i do a lot of the colour tweaking later in the process when i'm doing FX work and have got the editing done. I don't bother doing proper colour correction to any of the space shots or the shots that are full FX only until that stage. So the colour would be all over the place until then.

No biggie man, I didnt want to create more problems to add to the already insane process you have ahead, I just wasnt sure if it could be a relatively easy thing to do. Thanks for explaining it to me.

Ady, will there be any chance of you releasing a purely color corrected version of ESB? I know you couldnt with ANHR but I thought it would be nice to have an ESB color corrected version and I think it would be a great help to the community for anyone planning to do future projects with the movie.

Even though Fisher, Ford and Hamill state how George directed simply. "Faster, more intense"

"Faster, more intense," is what Ford, Fisher and Hamill said thats what Lucas continually said, I dont recall if they said that made it simple nor do I remember them stating simplifying it made it better directing. Not to mention I think theres more to directing then repeating the same 3 words over and over.

****Spoilers***

I just saw the movie yesterday. I thought Harrison Ford did a pretty good job in his role but thats about all that I liked. There were just too many things that were over the top and or outlandish, number 1 among all else was the plot. And having a few references back to the original movies would have been cool but bringing back Marion and making her kid his son was just too much I thought. Should have known it would have had a bad story with Lucas writing it.

but these are the lines that sound really bad so returning it to its original dialogue is what i want to do even if i have to substitute "Luke Skywalker" for "young Skywalker". It still sounds 100% better than the new lines

So your planning to return it to exactly how it was or as close as possible if you cant find "Luke" being said by Ian?

The ESB Emperor will always be Clive "Monkeyeyes" Oldwoman to me, so anything done with McDiarmid will be fine. Heh.

My thoughts exactly, I dont care about the continuity issue at all Id rather see it the original way anyday

I'd like to see someone sync the McDiarmid footage with the Revill audio. Ha!

I was thinking the same thing. Adys already done a great job "shadowing" the emperors hologram, what if you could darken it even further to avoid having a problem with the lips matching the spoken words and just modulate the original speech (pre 2004 DVDs) to make it distorted since it was a hologram transmitting and they were getting disruption from the near by asteroid field. It may be worth a try just to see how it comes out.

Having the original dialogue, or as much as possible, has always been something i wanted to do from the start. The new dialogue is horrible and has to go. If this idea doesn't work then it will stay as "Young Skywalker" because that line still works miles better than how its been changed for the 2004 DVDs

I agree, I remember listening to the Hologram scene for the first time on the 2004 DVDs and thinking, that was completely awful and unnecessary . Its one of my most hated changes to the trilogy and if I could Id like to discuss why.

There was no reason to add this altered dialogue.

Emperor- We have a new enemy, the young rebel who destroyed the death star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker
Vader- How is that possible?
Emperor- Search your feelings Lord Vader, you will know it to be true. He could destroy us

It adds absolutely nothing to the story or the scene, it goes nowhere. The conversation worked just fine as it was, I really think it would be worth cutting out those new additions by the emperor and Vader completely and try to recreate the original conversation.

Heres the two versions

Original dialogue

Vader- What is thy biding my master?
Emperor- There is a great disturbance in the force.
Vader- I have felt it.
Emperor- We have a new enemy, Luke Skywalker
Vader- Yes my master
Emperor- He could destroy us
Vader- Hes just a boy, Obi wan can no longer help him
Emperor- The force is strong with him..The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi
Vader- If he could be turned he would become a powerful ally
Emperor- Yes..Yes he would be a great asset. Can it be done?
Vader- He will join us or die Master

New dialogue

Vader- What is thy biding my master?
Emperor- There is a great disturbance in the force.
Vader- I have felt it
Emperor- We have a new enemy, the young rebel who destroyed the death star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker
Vader- How is that possible?
Emperor- Search your feelings Lord Vader, you will know it to be true. He could destroy us
Vader- Hes just a boy, Obi wan can no longer help him
Emperor- The force is strong with him, the son of Skywalker must no become a Jedi
Vader- If he could be turned he would become a powerful ally
Emperor- Yes he would be a great asset. Can it be done?
Vader- He will join us or die Master

Agreed, completed it last week on the easy setting, but havent tried it online as yet. I much pefer this to GTA4 because even though both games are too short COD4 looks fantastic throughout, and it feels more revelutionary.

I tried GTA4 didnt care for it, I like the older GTA games, they were a lot more fun if you ask me.

CoD4 online is a lot of fun, theres a bit of a learning curve getting use to the maps and figuring out your style of play your best with (i.e. run and gun or snipe) but once you get the hang of it, its easily the best online experience out there with the challenges you complete to upgrade and unlock new weapons and perks...HIGHLY addictive

My gold account on 360 ran out so I went back and beat the game on veteran difficulty, man was that intense...try Mile High Club on vet its nuts...you have to complete the level in 60 seconds.

I disagree completely. Ever since I heard that maybe Lando didn't make it out of the DS2 its given me chills, and over the years I've come to appreciate how good of an idea it would have been. I think it gives the ending a sense of balance, since besides Vader and one Ewok, no one dies or even looks like they might die. I'm not sure how Ady can address it without anyone mentioning it in the rest of the movie ("Yay, we win. Lando who?").

But back to ESB: Is Ady going to move the Falcon as it leaves Hoth so Luke is actually watching it leave instead of moving his head to where its going to be? Or pause Luke's head so the sound timing is still right?

Thats cool, thats your opinion. I just enjoy it when he blasts out of the Tunnel and yells. Maybe a bit corny but still a great scene.

Ive recently noticed the Falcon and Lukes "turn" arent in sync too. One thing with the Asteroid Chase I thought seemed overly antiquated was the explosion of the tie when it runs into a asteroid, it just has a "cheap" feel to it.

I apologize for continuing the ROTJ discussion but it seems Lando, in all early versions, survives according to SW.com and IMDb.com

http://www.starwars.com/episode-iv/bts/article/f20000530/index.html

http://imdb.com/title/tt0086190/faq#.2.1.1

I dont mean too sound to harsh and its totally your decision but I doubt Id watch an ending with Lando not making it... Its just one of the most exciting scenes when he flies out of the Death Star in such a dramatic fashion

I just wanted to throw in my opinion. I think ANH Revisited was exciting, I enjoyed most of it. I think the key is to be subtle, the subtle changes are what made the biggest impact. I did like the big extravagant changes you made to ANH but the ones that really made all the difference were the subtle alterations to the movie. Sprucing up the light sabers, correction the color. I think it holds turn to ESB more so than the other movies. If I recall correctly you did say you thought ESB was the best "put together" movie. And the one thing I think never did and never will need changing is John Williams score, its is amazing in ESB, I dont think anything needs to be touched with that. I know your main intention is to tie the PT and OT together but I really feel it wouldnt take much to bring the OT "Up to speed." I understand it is totally your project and you have the final say I just wanted to throw in my .02 cents. If I could make 2 requests though, make Vaders Saber RED, not a weird hue of red pink and I realize it wouldnt make it into the final cut but I beg you you reinstate the original Emperor hologram and dialogue possibly just as a alternate viewing selection. Theres just something about it that always felt right compared to the new version.

In my opinion the OT is flawless, storywise that is. The plot, the dialog, and the characters were all executed close to perfection. The true problem is that the PT is so heavily flawed storywise that it now makes the OT look like it's full of contradictions and inconsistencies.

That is exactly why I think going and messing with the OT lines is not a good idea. Getting everything to try and sync with the PT is really ridiculous. One can only screw up a great Trilogy in attempt to work with an absolutely horrendous trilogy.

I have always tried to take a life lesson from Empire Strikes Back in waiting situations like these. Luke left Dagobah too quickly. He should have been patient as Yoda instructed. Had he been patient, he would have discovered that Leia and company escape without his help and he becomes the person they have to go back for, endangering all of their lives - "If you leave now help them you could but...you would destroy all for which they have fought and suffered." Ady, I am glad to hear that you are being patient and not shooting off for Cloud City prematurely.

The edit will be all the better for it, anniversaries be damned. In fact, I don't recall good things happening on any Star Wars anniversary year. In 1997 we got the lousy SEs. In 1987 we got a Hamilton Collectors Plate collection and a poster (not bad, but kinda lackluster too). In 1992 (15th), we got a few reprinted posters. In 2002 (25th), we got Attack of the Clones - bleck!!!! I almost went blind that day.

It bodes WELL that the Revisited edit is not taking place on an anniversary year.

Im sorry this is totally offtrack but I just have to comment about the ending in ESB. If Luke did not come to Bespin, Vader would not have had his entire attention on Luke , and therefore could have been the reason for the others to make an escape. Once Vader knew Luke had taken the "bait," Vaders attention completely shifted to Luke, He was Vader's main objective. Luke enabled the others to escape and in turn rescue him. I dont mean to sound like I had to make you wrong I just always thought of it like that, always good to hear other peoples opinion about these movies though, it often gives me a fresh look at them.

Ady I know you would do what you think is best but I agree completely with giving yourself more time to provide the best release you could rather than try and make a deadline
