Problem With Womble Mpeg Video Wizard
Time
Lace I was in your same position a few weeks ago. What you can try to do is demux the video and audio (refer to the ADigitalMan's Guide to MPEG2/AC3 Editing guide found in GENERAL PRESERVATION AND FAN EDITS forum on how to do that if you don’t know already).

-Add the Wipe/Fade to the Video *Note the duration and unit used (time code, frame or second)
-Right Click on the Audio file that would begin the wipe/fade (The left handed audio clip in the split)
-Select “Fade” from the list of options that appear
-Select the same “Unit” that was being used for the 2-D Effect
For the sake of these directions let’s say the 2-D effect duration was 30 Frames
-In the “end” box type in 15, leave the zero in the “begin” box
-Now right click on the audio clip to the right of the one you were just working with
-Select Fade
-Select the same units if necessary
-Type in 15 in the “begin” box and leave the zero in the “end” box

The theory is that you split the duration between the two audio files being used for the wipe/fade. If the 2-D effect duration was 2 seconds you would use 1 second on the left handed audio clip and 1 second on the right handed audio clip. Just apply that to any unit and duration. The problem is that I found Womble does not like to fade the audio clip and in essence cut some of the audio to your exact specifications. It can be hit or miss at times

Also let me say this is the most roundabout way of doing something I have ever attempted, and may very well be the worst way to sync up audio and video when using a wipe/fade, but it was the only way I could figure out in Womble. I was also told to try Vegas but I think since I am clumsy with video editing programs I could not figure out anything in Vegas and therefore never found out how to use wipe/fades in Vegas. Now that I’ve probably made your head spin and scared you away from video editing someone else will hopefully step in and save you from this nightmare

***//BUILDING EMPIRE\\: PAL & NTSC DVD - NEW EDITION NOW ONLINE! ***
Time
That is awesome what you have done and is very impressive. I just wanted to let some members know, who may be unaware, if they simply do not care about FPS, audio speed ect and are only being held back by their DVD player not being able to play a PAL disc there are some fast and easy methods to get around that problem.

One is using a free program called vobBlanker.
“Open the VOB files in VOB blanker. Under the title set block (center of program window), you'll see your VOB files. The center column says "video format". My example says NTSC 4:3 720x480. If you right click on the VOB's you want to convert, then select "video attributes", you'll see a new window pop up. In this window, you can change the "standard" from PAL to NTSC and vice versa. You can even change the resolution in this window.

Do the above, then select or make a new output folder. Click on "process" at the bottom and let the conversion begin. You can then use DVD Shrink or any other compression/burning program of your choice to burn your newly converted NTSC or PAL DVD (whichever you chose to convert to).”

I’ve tried this method and it did work for me. There are several other quick and easy ways to go about this
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/207123

I know you are attempting a proper and official NTSC conversion but for those who simply want to watch this DVD regardless of conversions and what not this could make it very easy for them. That’s not to say you should ditch your efforts or makes your efforts and less meaningful, especially since those quick fixes sometimes do not work for all NTSC DVD players.

caligula,

Im just trying to understand what your doing exactly, your are converting the frame speed of the film but not the audio speed?

Jambe, I have a question for you too actually. On the site you recommended to go to to download the movie through rapidshare the site says the movie is 3.5GB but I thought building empire was closer to 4.2-4.5GB, is there something missing from the fanedited download?

Jambe, I just watched the 4 min preview of Returning to Jedi and I am In utter awe it wet my appetite and now I am now starving to see more, its flipping fantastic and I’ve only seen 4 minutes so far, I can not wait to see the entire movie. I never got a chance to see Building Empire but now I have to watch it is by far my favorite of the trilogy and I think it will make me love the movie even more. Thank you so much for bringing such a great release to us and to labor over something simply to offer it without asking anything in return to the fans.

What's that part that starts with the very first frame and ends when the last of the closing credits disappears? I can't remember what that's called, but I think if they took that out it would be a great improvement.

Thanks for the input, really helpful

Bizzle your ideas are perfect, the only other thing I would try to attempt cutting is some of the crystal/power loss parts as they were pretty bland

Merry X0mas and a Happy New Year!
Time
Jeez those pics really sparked a lot of interest for me. The difference is amazing. I have to agree with others that this really makes me dislike GL even more, all the money and resources he has at his disposal and he couldn’t give up enough to make a half decent release, pathetic. Compared to the work you guys have done with what could be considered outdated and limited sources just think about how amazing it could look using the originals and restoring with the resources GL has. That’s not to knock the X0 teams work in anyway; this is absolutely phenomenal and looks to put every other Official release to shame.

If someone wants it--and is willing to distribute it to interested parties in whatever way they see fit (disc, torrent, carrier pigeon, etc)--then I'm happy to burn one and mail it to him/her.

did you convert the audio speed as well?
