STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time

I know I'm really late to this party...but I just got a copy of "Star Wars Revisited" a few weeks ago. I just wanted to thank Adywan for all the hard work and dedication that went into this project. I didn't think there was any way it could be as good as all the discussion here made it out to be, but it was all that and more!!! Thanks for an awesome release!!

Idea: Star Wars Games Preservation
Time
Good luck on your project Exar Xan! I personally think preserving some of these older games is a very worthwhile endeavor. Many Star Wars video games have really interesting stories.

There was some mention above about a project that compiled the cut scenes from "Dark Forces." It was a project by Kaal-Jhyy, and it actually was a preservation of "Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II." He had two threads, which you can find HERE and HERE.

As for what you mentioned above whether a project should feature just the cut scenes, or combine the cut scenes and gameplay....I think it depends on the project and the game itself. On the original "Bounty Hunter" DVD MoveAlong and I put together, we only featured the pre-rendered cut scenes, but it made the story hard to follow. On our new 2.0 DVD, we show the pre-rendered cut scenes, the in-game engine cut scenes, and gameplay. I think the new "movie" we've put together is much better. I think showing at least some gameplay in a project couldn't be a bad thing.

&quot;Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game 2.0&quot; 3-DVD by Galactus + MoveAlong + ThrowgnCpr ** NOW AVAILABLE! **
Time
Thanks for the kind words. MoveAlong is in the process of editing together all the footage I captured with the cinematic cut scenes, adding nice transitions between my cuts. As anyone who has played the game knows, it is a very long story, with many different environments. It was really tough to decide what to cut out to keep the movie at a manageable length, but I wanted to be sure at least a few minutes of each gameplay level was represented.

foxbatkllr...I'll try to help you out, check your PM's.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter
Beyond The Game 2.0

A Production By Galactus + MoveAlong + ThrowgnCpr

TEASER TRAILER

FULL TRAILER

**+++ DISC ONE +++

THE PURIST CUT (1:44:59)

Galactus captured footage from the game, and MoveAlong edited it together to create a full-length movie. This cut preserves the game’s widescreen cut scenes and full screen gameplay footage in their original aspect ratios. Health and weapon indicators are visible onscreen, for a “purist” experience, like you’re watching someone playing the game.</span>

+++ DISC TWO +++

THE CINEMATIC CUT (1:41:22)

For this alternate version of the movie, ThrowgnCpr reformatted all the gameplay footage of the original edit to a widescreen aspect ratio for a more “cinematic” experience. Some scenes were trimmed slightly, new transitions were added between scenes, and gameplay footage was cropped and color corrected.</span>

The DVD-ROM is the definitive archive of “Star Wars: Bounty Hunter” material.

BACKGROUND:

“Star Wars: Bounty Hunter” was released in 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube video game consoles. MoveAlong and I collaborated on a DVD titled “Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game,” which was released in October 2006, and you can read the original thread for it HERE. That release essentially compiled all the cinematic cut scenes from the game created by Industrial Light & Magic, several Special Features, and a DVD-ROM folder of various files. Unfortunately, the cut scenes alone did not tell the entire the story of the game, and watching them compiled together could prove to be a bit confusing.

I honestly believe the game tells one of the most compelling stories of the Star Wars universe outside of the movies, and is closer in tone to the original trilogy than to the prequels. It takes place ten years before the events of Episode II. It begins with Darth Sidious summoning his apprentice, Count Dooku, and assigning him two tasks. The first is to eliminate Komari Vosa, a deranged former Jedi, and leader of the mysterious and deadly Bando Gora cult, who Sidious sees as a threat to his plans for the future. The second task is to find a source for his planned clone army. Dooku suggests they accomplish both tasks with one stroke. He will place a huge bounty on Vosa, and the hunter who is resourceful enough to deliver her would make a good source for the clone army. Although its a dangerous proposition, Jango Fett decides to pursue Vosa since the bounty is so large. Also after her is Montross, a Mandalorian turned bounty hunter like Jango, who is now his bloodthirsty rival. The story also introduces Zam Wesell, and tells how Jango obtained his ship, Slave I.

In early 2007, I began capturing gameplay footage, and compiling more material for the Special Features section of the DVD. The goal was to assemble a fulll-length movie, combining ILM’s pre-rendered cinematic cut scenes from the first release, cut scenes from the actual game engine, and gameplay footage, so that the complete story of “Star Wars: Bounty Hunter” could be told.

MoveAlong originally partnered with me on this 2.0 release, but he had to drop out due to other commitments. ThrowgnCpr offered to collaborate with me to complete the project.

Galactus assembled and organized all the material for this collection, and MoveAlong edited the movie on the first disc. ThrowgnCpr edited the movie on the second disc, and he took on the MASSIVE job of authoring all three DVD’s (and designed our DVD cover).

I’m very grateful to both MoveAlong and ThrowgnCpr for collaborating with me on this project (that was almost seven years in the making). Thanks for your interest!

&quot;Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game&quot; a Galactus &amp; MoveAlong Production
Time
Just thought I would let everyone know that work is about to begin in earnest on "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game 2.0." Over the last year or so I've been capturing and re-capturing gameplay footage from the game, and I'm now satisfied with the material I have. It may change somewhat during the editing process, but I think the final movie will end up being around 105 minutes (as opposed to 30 minutes on the original DVD). It's going to have to be a dual-layer DVD so everything will fit, including the special features.

I'm very grateful that MoveAlong has agreed to work with me on this project again...it wouldn't be possible without him and his awesome editing and DVD-authoring skills!

Also, just want to mention that it's not too late...if you have any material related to this game, please let me know so I can try to include it. There's a list earlier in this thread of stuff I've been looking for.

** FEBRUARY 2008 UPDATE ** Work has begun on the new DVD. The thread for it can be found HERE.

There hasn't been much discussion about this project, but I recently obtained a copy of this DVD, and it really is fantastic! All of the best flash spoofs are included, including many I had never seen before. There's some really funny stuff out there! ThrowgnCpr really did a great job putting together a professional looking, very entertaining DVD. I couldn't recommend it more.

MoveAlong, thanks for sending me this DVD. It was a real honor to beta test this for you. It was really cool to see the completed release with your finishing touches on it, and for the DVD to arrive with the fantastic cover and disc art printed out. As always, you give 110% with your releases, and this is one of the best fan DVD's out there. I listened to this record so much as a kid, I could almost repeat all the narration while watching the DVD! Thanks again, and I'm looking forward to working with you again soon!

I've had the honor of "beta testing" this DVD for MoveAlong, and let me assure everyone here...you're really in for a treat. If you liked his "The Story of Star Wars" DVD, you'll love "The Story of the Empire Strikes Back." If you're like me and have been eagerly awaiting this release, it was well worth the wait.

This is a cool idea!

I would be sure to get the three Christmas themed swf movies that were made available at the official site several years ago. There was "Holiday At The Fetts," one with the Wampa, and one with Geonosis as a toy factory.

A few others I've found online that I like include:

-- Rob Stangroom's "The Jedi Song" music video
-- Weird Al's "I Think I'm A Clone Now" fan made music video (with clone troopers)
-- Bentframe's "Star Wars Gangsta Rap" music video
-- "The Bounty Hunters Talk Back" - interviews with the Bounty Hunters from the classic trilogy
-- "Star Wars Toys That Never Were" - funny toy proposals

I'm hoping someone can help me....looking for a high quality scan of the front and back cover of the GERMAN version of the Bounty Hunter game. I already have the U.S., Japanese, and French covers. If anyone can provide scans of covers from other countries where the text on the back cover is in a different language, it would be greatly appreciated. To match the other images I have, the scans would need to be 600 pixels high, with the front and back cover showing in the same image.

Work is slowly progressing on an expanded version of the DVD. I've captured most of the gameplay footage, and gathered several more clips for the Special Features section of the disc. The goal is to assemble a full length movie incorporating all the cinematic cut scenes, gameplay, and in-game animations. Those of you who have seen the original DVD have only seen about a third of the Bounty Hunter story....the new DVD will tell the complete story.

Here's one screen shot I have of one of the in-game movies. It's Jango "persuading" Senator Trell to give him some information high above the streets of Coruscant:

Just thought I would update everyone that some very early preliminary work is being done on an expanded version of "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game." We're a LONG way off from a release, but if anyone has any material they think may be useful in this project, please contact me. I'm mainly looking for anything concerning the game that was not on the original release, some of which I've detailed earlier in this thread. A helpful forum member sent me a link to the following piece of concept art that was not included on the original DVD:

Thanks for any help, and I will update this thread when there's something more concrete to report.

While we were making the DVD, MoveAlong and I discussed that the story isn't terribly cohesive by just watching the cinematic cut scenes. However, that was the goal of this release: to compile the cut scenes and as much bonus material as possible.

Much of the story of the game is also told during the actual gameplay and in-game animations. Including that stuff just opens a whole can of worms that we didn't want to tackle yet. In the Bounty Hunter game, the cut scenes are 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, the gameplay is 4x3 full screen, and the in-game animations are 4x3 letterboxed.

MoveAlong put a lot of work into making sure this DVD would look good to people who have both standard 4x3 TV's and 16x9 widescreen TV's. For instance, a game commercial on the DVD that is 4x3 full screen on a standard TV will appear with pillars on the sides when viewed on a 16x9 display so the image won't be distorted. As an owner of a 16x9 TV, this was really important to me. I was tired of seeing DVD's that were either letterboxed but not anamorphic, or had 4x3 bonus features that were all stretched and distorted on a 16x9 display.

Mixing this footage of various aspect ratios from the gameplay and cut scenes (and making it look good for folks with both 4x3 and 16x9 displays) would be an interesting project.....one we may want to tackle one day. In fact, check out the "DVD Credits" in the Special Features section of "Beyond The Game" for more on this.....

I would love to see some reviews of the DVD if anyone would like to chime in. It's been snatched from myspleen 125 times now, so someone is bound to have an opinion! Has anyone found the easter eggs?

There were a few items concerning the game that I was never able to track down. I would still like to try to find the following stuff....you never know if there could be another Bounty Hunter project in the distant future! Some of these are mentioned earlier in this thread, but this is everything I'm aware of right now:

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/1813/advertisementthumbnailsh7.jpg

-- I would like to find a full-size image of the above picture. I think it was a UK print advertisement for the game. I would also like print advertisements from anywhere else in the world.

-- Looking for an episode of G4's "Screen Savers" that had an interview with game director Jon Knoles. There are probably some other clips broadcast on G4 concerning the game when it was released in 2002, anything else is of interest too.

-- Looking for a webcast on GameSpot Live from May 22, 2002 that showed a sneak peek of Bounty Hunter from E3, and an interview with Jon Knoles.

-- Looking for an archived version of "The Hunt Begins" web site (a promotion for the release of the game in the UK) at www.thehuntbegins.co.uk. The site is now gone, parts of it are viewable at the Internet Archive HERE, but it is very incomplete. Does anyone have any images from this promotion?

-- Lastly, I'm looking for anything else that isn't in the DVD-ROM section of "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter - Beyond The Game." I can't imagine there being much that wasn't already on the DVD, but you never know. I'm sure there's probably some concept or promotional art out there that I didn't find!

Thanks for any help!

Is there any chance this will be distributed via PIF?

I'll be sending out several copies of this over the next few days. I'll also be sending PM's to a couple of folks who have asked about PIF's. If anyone who grabs this off myspleen or alt.binaries.starwars can also help out with PIF's, that would be great too!

Thanks Rikter for posting this on myspleen! My Star Wars preservation DVD collection wouldn't be anything without all the generous work you do!

Star Wars Read-Alongs and other exciting audio stuff.........

The Star Wars Adventures In ABC's read along is now "out there" as an mp3 download from a torrent site but I obviously cannot say where here as that is against the ot.com rules!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very cool, thanks!

I have still never seen The Ewok Adventure or The Battle for Endor read alongs anywhere.

Yeah, still need those. I haven't ever seen them available for download. Obviously they weren't as popular as the read alongs for the movies themselves.

It appears to be the "Star Wars: A New Hope - Read-Along" from 1997. It gives the following info on the cassette's faces:

I believe a recording of this has been circulating for awhile.

I've received the "first draft" of the DVD from MoveAlong, and I've watched it several times over. We decided to make just a couple of very minor changes, and we'll be ready to go. Although they look fantastic, the screen shots MoveAlong posted don't do this DVD justice. What he has put together is really amazing, and I think collectors of these kinds of preservation projects are in for a real treat. Speaking of treats, here's the DVD cover designed for us by Darksaber, with a few tweaks by MoveAlong:

Thanks for the link russs15! I'm not 100% sure we can use that Bounty Hunter "Galaxy Guide" PDF. It's from 1994 and has no mention of Jango Fett or any connection to the game. It's an awesome book, but we're going to be dealing with space limitations in the DVD-ROM section, and I don't think we'll be able to include anything that doesn't directly relate to the game.

Thanks for the offer concerning the strategy guide lordjedi! I'll be sending you a PM.

MoveAlong has really been doing some amazing work on this DVD, and Darksaber has designed a sweet DVD cover and disc labels. These guys have really gone above and beyond the call of duty!
