Star Wars out next year???????
Time
Sometimes that's the case and sometimes it's not. Like in The Princess Diaries, which was shot in open matte, there ended up being an unintended boom mic in frame on the fullscreen version. But Zemeckis has been quoted as saying that he shot it in 1.33:1 because he knew that more people would end up seeing it on a home format anyway. And Bob Gale said on the commentary that they didn't have any interest shooting it in widescreen because they didn't consider Back to the Future to be a movie suited for any wide angles. It was just matted that way because it had to be so for theatres.

Watched Star Trek II on HBO the other day, what a difference in effects compared to the OT!
Time
I know this isn't quite in the same time period, but I can't help thinking about Clash of the Titans. I mean, it's a fun movie, but I'm sure you know the special effects...

And Rocky Horror Picture Show came out two years before Star Wars, and I still think the laser blast Riff-Raff fires at the end looks really funny.

FUEL TO THE MAC vs. PC FIRE
Time
That speech was almost eloquent enough to sway me to Macs, but you lost me at the very end when you said your co-workers fumble around like primates because you invoked one of my pet peeves, and that is that humans ARE primates, so them fumbling around like primates wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary! Sorry, I know what you meant, but I just can't let that one pass because, like I said, it's one of my huge pet peeves.

A New Hope Script Game
Time
Stormtrooper: Take over. See to him.
3PO: They're madmen. They're heading for the prison level. If you hurry, you might catch them!
Stormtrooper: You stand guard.
3PO: Come on! Oh! All the excitement has overrun the circuits in my counterpart here. If you don't mind, I'd like to take him down to maintenance.
Stormtrooper: Alright.

Actually, it's been two days, and I think they're quality posts, Dayv! I've seen you knock 'em out faster. But it really just depends on whether or not there's anybody saying anything when I'm around, or if there's anything I feel like commenting on. The past two days have just made me chatty. But I usually only post about 6-10 times a day.

STAR WARS - Enhanced HD & O-OT HD Packs... some suggestions...
Time
I'm not going to start flaming or anything because you're entitled to your opinion. I really want to say that as long as the originals are released, George can "rape" them as much as he wants, like Nanner said, but the thought just makes me sick to my stomach that he'd do anything else to the movies he's already ruined. I've probably become desensitized to remarks about changing the first movie because it's usually the target of people whining, "It's not good enough," so I just turned an annoyed eye. But it was when you got to the sequels that I pulled a "WTF, Mate!" Well, to be honest, the first minor one I pulled was the "more original explosion." It's an explosion. Go BOOM! What can possibly be original about it? He already tried messing with the Death Star explosion, and it makes me cringe now every time I see it. The Battle of Hoth was perfect the way it was, and no CG can make it any better. And the same thing with the DSII Battle. Does every space battle have to have 25,000 ships fighting each other for some people to be happy? And CG doubles for ESB and ROTJ? Once again, I've heard this idea for the first one, so it was just a minor annoyance, but I still think the ESB duel is the best one in the entire series. It's not only tactically and visually impressive, but it's so visceral and gritty. Once again, does a lightsaber duel have to have meaningless twirling of pretty colors (like in ROTS) or constant backflips and wall kicks to be a lightsaber duel? And CG fill-ins for ROTJ seems just silly since that was a subdued fight to begin with and certainly couldn't improve from any new technology. I'm not trying to bash or be mean, but all of the stuff you suggested just seems superfluous. It's like putting a random CG cow in the middle of Hill Valley in the first Back to the Future movie. It doesn't make any sense, but we can sure make a digital cow now, can't we?
