Hey guys, Remember when Star wars had writing like this?
Time
Honestly, I find that Leia is much bitchier to the other heroes in the original movie than she is in Empire. Honestly, these guys are risking their lives to free her, and all she can do is complain how they're doing it wrong. It's funny, and she has a point, but I think I would have been tempted to do what Han says and put her back in her cell and hope the Imperials would forgive me and let me go.

The Most Needlessly Melodramticly-titled Thread Ever
Time
Wow. Great and surprising to see Warbler post again. Gives me a bit of a sinking feeling to continually read, "This is my last post..." etc. posts, but that's their choice, and who am I to argue? It's annoying that things had to go sour, but that was a few months ago now, and I honestly hadn't given it too much thought in a while other than the occasional missing of their input to the Off-Topic section. So I wish either things would be rectified with the old guard or we could just move on from it like I thought we had been doing.

Wow, I'm gone for a little while, and the shit revives itself and hits the fan all over again. Man, that poor fan. It must suck getting shit all over it so often. Yeah, I was under the impression we'd moved past all this. I sure as hell wish YIYF would come around here more often. But, since I didn't list anything this week, I'm thankful for this thread because I got to laugh at some more hilarious Stinky posts, and those always make my day.

Leia's Role in the Rebellion

Helping to destroy one of the galaxy's most notorious gangsters.

How does that help the rebellion?

If helping to destroy the Death Star didn't get Solo a single promotion (or rather got him officially ranked as the Captain he already was), how does helping to destroy a non-combatant - no matter how criminal - affect his rebel ranking?

Shenanigans!

Besides, it was mostly through Luke's actions that Jabba was killed anyway. Solo was being rescued. But you didn't see Luke getting any more promotions, huh?

Anyone see ER last week (11-02-06)? RE: Padme's death

I kinda think it was the kids that ultimately did her in. Sure she was heart broken and felt she had lost the one she loved forever, but I feel that had she not been with child(ren) at the time she would have pulled through. She died while giving birth to her children but it was Anakin's actions that caused Padme to weaken while doing so.

If the birth had killed her, that would have been fine, but it was clearly stated that she was in perfect physical health.

Her dying via the vapors was hardly the worst sin against her character in RotS. She simply became such an unbelieveable wimp in the whole movie, contrary to her character that was presented in the other two films. Gak, even her wooden affectations as the Queen had her evincing more spunk than she did in the entire final film.

The prequels' greatest flaw was failing to develop likeable characters on the order of Luke, Han and Leia. To then squander what little character they had developed in Padme was among the more egregious errors of Revenge of the Sith.

Bah.

Of course, all of her good scenes ended up being cut from the movie since they were pretty extraneous to the main plot. Pretty much, she just didn't have anything to do in that movie except weep and worry and be in love.

The Merits of the Prequel Trilogy and the "Saga"

I just thought of a way that midichlorians could not only make sense in their job but not ruin people's preconceived notions of the Force. What if midichlorians weren't inherently present in a human being's (or any life form's) body with Force sensitivity dependent on their existence but were drawn, rather, to Force sensitivity? So people with high midichlorian counts would only have high midichlorian counts because they were, for whatever reason, strong with the Force?
