Thanks Docsap! Some of the users on TPB are a bit of wankers, though.

Indeed - major wankers who obviously can't read a detailed description when there is one (the comments are quite funny that way...) However, TPB is open to all, which is why I reposted it there, as many people don't know or can't manage to get onto MySpleen.

True. That's why I always prefer to read descriptions on Torrents. Of course I'd also prefer download links on TehParadox with 200mb or 400mb, easier when I'm Premium, with upload.to/.net since torrents can get a bit sluggish for some projects. So a Vortex or Viva Elite 2-Disc for the coverart?

The only thing I will do with the video is color regrading: no DVNR, EE or something else. AVC will be used, DTS-HD MA will be copied "as is", and left untouched; I'll use the usual five languages for the soundtracks, with related subtitles; if JetrellFo will be able to find out the Cinema DTS track, I'll use it too.

You wrote about isolated score: is this available somewhere?

You'd cheat and use the OST CD for the isolated score though.

No extras are needed with this, maybe some trailers, since I'll just use it as a third disc with my USA 2-Disc Blu-ray release I own. Great you're keeping the film grain Andrea, hate it when preservationists and fan editors remove it with DVNR and EE. Will you be ripping the English DTS-MA 5.1 bit-for-bit or what? Just throw in a ton of subtitles if need be.

Obviously the current Blu-ray is great except for the needed color correction which you're doing. Keeping it AVC will be perfect.

The european BD - the one I'm using - is a BD-50 as well... plus, IIRC, the US BD had a minor problem, something like thin line(s) near the borders, while the EU BD has not.

Yes but the entire film is on its own BD50 instead of sharing it with the extra features. Of course leaving in the grain structure while going more for the cinematic presentation look? English DTS-HD MA 5.1 track left in? How about an isolated score track? OR would that be something Team Blu would do instead?

This would make a great third disc for the USA Blu-ray disc release I own for this film.

007: Skyfall-Prodigal (Released)

I found Skyfall to be an uncomfortable mix of classic Bond over-the-topness, and Bourneish/Nolanish 'realism'.

Either Bond is superman, or he gets old and has to retire.  Can't have it both ways.

If you head into a gun fight with 30 year old intel on where the guns are-  don't be surprised if someone moved them while you were out.

Fix that (if you can) and maybe I will have some use for Skyfall.  As it is now, it's too silly to be serious and too serious to be fun.

(And maybe add a post credits scene of Kevin from Home Alone waking up and it was all a dream.  If you keep the Home Alone action at the end, that is... which it sounds like you're not.)

Sounds as though somebody needs to start reading the Ian Fleming books and stop basing the Daniel Craig version on current trends. I'd hate to see a fan edit of SKYFALL only because once again someone forgot to read a bulk of the OO7 books.

ALIEN: Extended Cut (BD50) (* unfinished project *)
Time

This'll just be a cut and splice deal for Version 1. I did keep the 1999 USA DVD for ALIEN of course since it has the alternate production audio track and the Jerry Goldsmith scoring. Also because I want my project to be part of the Remux'd Blu-rays for the ALIEN Appendices discs. Mainly so it can go with the ALIEN Anthology Blu-ray release, of which I own the UK release since it's in a Keep case and not weird packaging.

My guess is this'll go into a 5-Disc or 6-Disc Viva Elite Blu-ray case, if need be. Only if anyone is willing to redo those extras discs as Blu-rays.

Info Wanted: Are there any fan edits of Man of Steel - with John Williams Music?
Time

No thanks. The 1978-2006 SUPERMAN series is its own entity and Man of Steel is a fresh reboot. The older series is practically the Silver/Bronze Age Superman and Superman Returns is an alternate Superman III & IV: The Quest for Peace.

So yeah, John Williams Superman Theme will forever be associated with the Christopher Reeve/Helen Slater/Brandon Routh series.

I saw a fan edit of Alien once that threw in everything. The deleted scenes quality was horrendous, and this was a DVD fan edit. Have the deleted scenes been tinkered with somewhat for the blu?

All I know is from dvdcompare.net is that the deleted scenes are all in HD. Hopefully 1080p wil remastering. I'd just be adding the deleted scenes back in with the same pacing from the Theatrical 1979 Cut.

This'll be a BD50 with only the movie. No menus or anything. Put the disc in and it plays.

ALIEN: Extended Cut (BD50) (* unfinished project *)

Since I own the ALIEN Anthology UK Blu-ray disc set, it’s fairly much the same between USA and UK albiet packaging differences, and the Deleted Scenes are in 1080p quality, I figured on making a custom Extended Cut for ALIEN.

I’ll be using Handbrake with very high quality and grabbing the film as the Theatrical Cut since I want the same pacing for the Extended Cut. Maybe it should be recolortimed with the 1999 DVD or left as is? There should be some consistency.

It’ll fairly match the custom DVD Fan Edits of other Extended Cuts, this time for a Blu-ray. Most assuredly a BD50. It’ll be movie only.

This is a pre-empt before I get the project started.

The Atomik Monkey Preservations (Blu-ray, HD DVD, HDTV, DVD, DVHS, Laserdisc, etc.) Thread. Custom Blus to You!
Time

This thread is about the preservations using the best materials and sources around. Very comprehensive releases, extra features, outstanding video and audio. Of course film grain should be retained for all releases. Includes many audio commentaries.

Sources helpful. I'll only be grabbing materials and having others helping with menus and such.

Because Twilight Time can get bent.

I'll add more later.

(No, I won't be doing any Star Wars preservations.)
