The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

You compare Kylo at the beginning of the movie to Kylo at the end of the movie and ignore every instance in between where his flaws, weaknesses and errors are progressively shown. On Jakku he acts badass, but not much later we see him struggle with the light side; he captures Rey, but fails to get the map out of her; then she even escapes, the resistance attacks and his father shows up, things get worse and worse for Kylo and in the end he has a lightsabre battle while emotionally and physically wounded. There clearly is a progression.

What didn't you like about TFA? SPOILERS
Time

It is in the movie to have a lightsabre fight, because that’s a popular thing in Star Wars, it’s there for a completely out-of-movie reason. However, the film’s internal logic doesn’t require Jedi to have lightsabres (which may be the number one reason why Kylo could easily wipe out Luke’s academy). Since there is an external reason to have a lightsabre, it is in the movie and the characters have to react to it, so they use it.

Certainly anything is possible. If Abrams would have cooked up a thing where Chewbacca turned out to be Ren’s true father because the midichlorians modified Chewbacca’s wookie sperm to be compatible with a human egg …

Can you for once please come up with an analogy that doesn’t include feces or other bodily fluids in your rebuttals?

(Hehehe, rebuttal; hehehe analogy)

there’s still at least 4 new memorable themes that come to my mind: Kylo Ren/First Order, Rey, Resistance March, and Jedi Steps, all of which I really enjoy.

And that’s just as many memorable themes as I can list from from Empire: Imperial march, asteroid field, battle of Hoth, Yoda. And apart from the Emperor’s theme, what memorable music is in Jedi (and don’t say Jedi rocks 😉), what have the prequels other than duel of the fates, the trade federation march, love across the stars and battle of heroes?

Kylo is part of the knights of Ren, we see them all wearing masks in the force vision scene, so him wearing a mask may be related to that. Or it’s becaue of his worship of Vader, which makes sense as him being Kylo’s very powerful grandfather.
We saw Luke for only a few seconds, I’m sure the next episode will show a bit more of this island and what Luke has been doing there.

Star Wars theatrical versions not coming in 2015

I don’t think the OOT will be released until the next decade, sometime after May 2020. Disney will wait until all of Fox’s distribution rights expire on the other movies, and they will simultaneously wait until the ST is over and dies down.

For me, this wouldn’t make sense. The distribution rights for Star Wars won’t go back to Disney, only for Empire and Jedi. If Disney wanted to piss off Fox by not sharing the money for the last two movies, why wouldn’t Fox simply prevent them from releasing Star Wars altogether? How could Disney release an OOT without the first movie?

One simply don’t hang up with rebels on an ice planet performing patrols for fun. Hanging around with rebels is not like being in a social club. You don’t simply associate yourself with people who are being perceived by the Empire as worst-than-criminals just to hang around with “friends”.

Where is that stated in the script? Isn’t this also just an interpretation based on your impression? Or is your impression above everyone else’s?
