The New Thread Thread

I had to change my avatar from Palpatine, I couldn’t take myself seriously.

Not that this new one is any more serious.

Everytime someone mentions their new avatar it’s not displayed, so I refresh the page and suddenly two more people also have new avatars. I think we need a new thread for people to announce their new avatars to avoid this kind of surprise.

"Avatar doesn't update" troubleshooting
Time

Instead of waiting for people to report that their avatars don’t update and then tell them to clear their cache and so on, how about a sticky post with step by step instructions for the most common fixes? Something like:

  1. refresh the page
  2. clear your cache
  3. delete your cookies
  4. use a different browser
  5. reinstall your operating system
  6. burn a graphics card at full moon to summon the tech demon and ask him to fix your stuff

I think that the obsessed prequel fans are starting to become a thing of the past. I’m not saying that people don’t still like the prequels, but the people who think that they are beautiful masterpieces and believe that the original trilogy was a prophetic follow-up to the prequels made 20 years in advance are starting to fade away.

I actually think they’ve grown in number since Disney bought Star Wars.

Yeah, I recently talked to TFA hater who thinks AOTC raises important and fascinating moral questions.

“Should movies be filmed with crude digital cameras, using the shot-reverse-shot technique ad nauseum and 90% green screen?”

Hey guys it’s me, Frank. I only have a few minutes before this guy regains consciousness and I loose control of his body, so I just wanted to quickly explain why it has been so quiet in here.

So, it all started when I decided to go back to the cinema with 3 pairs of 3d gla

JEDIT:
WTF? Why did I just post that? dahmage out.

Now, to finish the story, Frink told me you could wear two pairs of 3D glasses to make the move 6D, so I tried that out. It turned out, however, that the effect multiplied, so I saw the movie in 9D! As you might remember, I feared that this might be the too much to process, and indeed, my brain was just shutting down, leaving no space for random thoughts. I’m really sorry for that, but actually, it was Frink’s fault and I reported him for it.

I actually laughed in the theater when he takes his mask off to reveal that he’s just some bratty kid. It’s a fantastic moment, gives you the exact impression of him that you’re supposed to have: he’s a wannabe who has very little idea what he’s doing.

I strongly agree. The only difference is that you think this is brillant while I believe it ruins the main menace… and the story as a whole. In ANH Tarkin and Vader are cold and intelligent; in TFA their “young versions” Hux and Ren are so childish that I never believe in the First Order. I just don’t buy it.

“I hate TFA, it’s such a rehash. Also, the main villains are not like Tarkin or Vader, which is also bad.”

Last evening, I watched Passengers in the cinema, it was quite good. Of course the spaceship has some unnecessarily complicated maintenenace mechanisms to create dramatic tension, but that was to be expected. The 3D wasn’t distracting, either.

Now, I still don’t really like 3D and think it’s a gimmick that adds nothing to the actual movie. The trailer for The Great Wall was also in 3D and that thing looked horrendous. It was like cardboard cutouts of the actors moving in one plane and the background being far behind them.
