Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)
Time

The MKV files were removed some time ago.
But I understand that MKVs can be made out of the iso.

Alternately, you can mount the iso on a virtual drive (via Alcohol 52%) or burn it on an empty standard Blu-ray. Then you can view it on your PC with PowerDVD or watch it on your TV if you have a Blu-ray player. 😃

I say let’s get back on-topic. Williarob will get a superior scan, as a “parting gift” from poita, and the Silverscreen Edition will be better for it. So, whatever happens, there will be a good quality, high resolution version of Star Wars available to enjoy, and fiddle with. Meanwhile, Mike Verta will hopefully get his chance to present his restoration to the powers that be, which offers the best chance of an official release (theatrical for the 40th Anniversary?), and the restoration and release of the other two films in the trilogy. So, despite some drama, things are looking pretty damn good.

Ps. Let’s not forget about Harmy’s Despecialized 3.0!

I look forward to both. 😃

Is there still a plan to get the blu-ray iso up on MySpleen? Thanks again for your work!

Yes, that is still the plan, but we are still re-working a few shots and then there is the GOUT Syncing, re-encoding and blu-ray authoring to do, so it is still at least a few weeks away, possibly longer.

Great. 😃

What about audio tracks, texts and subtitles from foreign versions of Star Wars? I recall that a Spanish 35mm print was used for this project. I also remember Laserschwert mentioning that he’s using footage of German prints for his German Despecialised Edition. Would you include those on the SSE Blu-ray using seamless branching if the owners of these prints allow that and if there’s enough space to burn it on a 25GB Blu-ray?

Re 70mm, I have seen two 70mm Star Wars prints, only one was in projectable shape and both were far too faded to red to be useful for restoration of the image, it is extremely likely that they all are far too faded now.
Plus 70mm is cropped at the sides, so I don’t think it will be a lot of use for the visual restoration.

What about the audiotracks of these 70mm prints? Could they be of any use?

I've lost count on how long I've been waiting for this. I'm very very happy to know that our patience will pay off very soon.

This project is not only important to the fans demanding a proper release of the unaltered movies for years but also for fan editors wanting to incorporate the unaltered footage in their own fan edits. You're doing something grand for all of us and for that, I thank you very much.

2015 is a great year for being a Star Wars fan. And you have also contributed to that. :)

RELEASED: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Special Longer Version)"
Time

If there are any differences on the audio tracks on each VHS copy, then it might certainly be interesting to include them.

I still have a VHS copy of the Special Longer Version in German and I'd like to offer its audio track if you're interested. It was released around 1997 and was digitally remastered. On the case it says: Hi-Fi Stereo Dolby Surround Mono Compatible.
