Very amazing. š®
Very amazing. š®
Good luck. š
Iām glad to read that things start getting uphill for you, Poita.
And yes, Iām very interested in seeing the '97 SE restored and preserved just like the unaltered movies. š
For WC III, I think the novelisation by William R. Forstchen and Andrew Keith may be of great help on how to trim the story and/or which story paths could be taken.
I hope youāll get better soon. š
And I still have the German SLV on VHS, of which Iāve wanted to digitize the audiotrack for some time now. If you could have any use for it, let me know. š
English or Deutsch? But even if itās German the video could be useful
Itās the German dub.
So if I understand you correctly, youād like to have both the video and the audiotrack?
(I bought that VHS many years ago because I wanted to adapt the German audiotrack to FanFiltrationās restoration. Unfortunately, Iāve never gotten around to it.)

Regarding āStar Trek IV: The Voyage Homeā:
The European version has a summary-sequence of the previous movie, narrated by William Shatner. Unfortunately, it has not been released on any of the Blu-ray releases as far as I know.
(However, since all needed footage obviously exists on the Blu-ray of Star Trek III, I donāt think it would be impossible to rebuild that sequence using the audio track from the DVD-release)
Iāve just found a fan-edit of the scene, in which Kirk leaves the Enterprise through the airlock. The creator (pun-intended) made his own matte-painting of the Enterpriseās saucer section around the airlock-set.
This really looks awesome and Iād love to see it in some form in future fan-edits of TMP.
However, I think for any purist rebuild of the Special Longer Version like FanFiltrationās, I think it should stay in itās original form with the soundstage intact.
VLC Media Player also isnāt very ideal for playing large HD-video files since it shows the same issues youāve described regarding Windows Media Player.
Good luck. š
The Directorās Edition of TWoK and the Special Edition of TUC have a few additional scenes.
And the TNG Blu-ray sets are worth their price. š
I never liked how the interlacing turned out on this edit and I never got around to making an upgrade. My original copy has been lost to time.
Didnāt I upload a copy of your original to the spleen?
You could have, Iāve lost my account info over there.
If youād like, I can send you an invitation.
Best wishes for your daughter. š
In case this helps you for future versions:
Poita has uploaded footage of a German 35mm print of Empire, which includes the opening crawl:

Iāve always hoped that a German Krieg der Sterne 35mm print would show up somewhere someday.
I canāt tell you how awesome it is that you have one. š
Iāve registered as well.
You can find version 1.6 on MySpleen. If you need an invite to that site, Iād be happy to provide you one. š
I like the idea of a private topic. Iām in. š
I recommend uTorrent. š
These look spot-on to me. Well done. š
In the meantime, if you havenāt done so already, you can check out the 35mm HD restorations floating around, like āStar Wars: Silver Screen Editionā, āThe Empire Strikes Back: Renegade Grindhouse Editionā and āReturn of the Jedi: 35mm Grindhouseā. š
I have the German VHS of the longer version of ST:TMP. I originally bought it in the hopes that one day Iād be able to synch its audio track with FanFiltrationās reconstruction.
Would you be interested in that one?Does it have burnt in English subtitles?
It doesnāt. Many Germans prefer their movies dubbed instead of subtitled.
So my VHS may only be interesting for the audio track.Having a nice cap of the whole thing would probably be good. This way an NTSC version could be made and maybe used to average one nice looking VHS version all the way around.
š
I just realised that you were probably talking about burnt-in subtitles during the Klingon and Vulcan dialogs. Iām pretty sure that these have burnt-in subtitles.
It may take some time, but once I get around to it, Iāll see if I can digitize it for you. š
