Ah, understandable. In that case, would you be willing to re-record the SLV disc or lend to to another who could? The director's cut sound mix for the non theatrical scenes is  problematic due to added score and extra fx/ambiance added, hence why I'm seeking this soundtrack.

I'll hook up the old LD player, and contact you via PM when it's done.

Well I never knew that Martin Landau was approached to play Spock before Nimoy.  He says so in this interview.  He also shows that he has no love at all for producer Fred Freiberger. The special's host looks just like Boxy from the original "Battlestar Galactica".

Space:1999 - Martin Landau interview (1999)

Martin Landau is interviewed about Space:1999 for this French program from 1999. While the clips and narration are in French, Mr. Landau's comments are in English.

Update: another kind member here provided me with the theatrical LD's PCM track via a bit-perfect transfer, so I'm all set where that is concerned. All I need now is your SLV audio transfer and I'll have every version of the film's soundtrack that's appeared on home video (VHS aside of course) to use towards my edit : D.

I have not been able to locate the original lossless files. Not sure what happened, but I had moved three times since that project. Sorry about that.

Harlan always keeps an escape pod and his pseudonym handy. ;)

What I remember of the show is it was pushing the limits of 1970's video effects. Would be so easy to put actors into miniature sets now.

Here's a Starlost fan page you might find interesting. Hasn't been updated in years though.

That was a great page, thanks!

If you are a Walter Koenig fan like I am, you may enjoy seeing him in two episodes of "The Starlost".

I had seen one episode of this show when I was around 7 years old in 1973 or 1974, then it completely vanished. That one episode had a huge impact on me, and for years I tried to find anyone who had seen it, or knew it's name, or anything at all about it.  It was not until a Star Trek convention in the early 90's that I finally did find something. It was a few black and white stills from the show at a dealers table.  I finally had a clue, and at long last conformation that I did not just imagine that the show even existed.  Koenig guest stared on two episodes. It's interesting that he is using a very Chekov sounding accent. I wonder if that was his choice or the producers or directors requested it.

This was grass roots classic weekly science fiction drama at it cheesiest. This show is the vital missing link between "Star Trek" and "Space 1999", and it had some of science fiction's biggest names attached to it.  Amongst them are Douglas Trumbull and Harlan Ellison (who had jumped ship early in filming, and demanded his name be changed in the shows credits)

"Clerks II" (2006) 5/10

This is a strange one. Gone are all the endearing low-budget amateur film-making elements of the original. I grew up in central Jersey (close to where the original was made, and Kevin Smith's home). They tried to pass off L.A. county as Jersey, and it just did not work. I have lived in California too, so it was really noticeable to me.  Some funny moments, but more of a cameo fest.  The musical number was so far removed from what the original was.  I hear they are making a "Clerks III" next June, and it's safe to say that I will not be going to a theater to see it. I'm off to watch the "CLERKS" cartoons now, but most likely will not write a review.
