This ranks low
Now I feel like I should give this a chance and watch it.
At times I prefer listening to the bootleg sessions over the released albums.
I saw Trekkies the day after Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace came out.
My sister and I were the only two people in the theater. Loved it!
I like this guys take on Trek’s villain problem.
Quicksilver (1986) 7/10
This movie just drips with 1980’s styles. From Bacon’s feathered hair to the pulsating synth based soundtrack. This film came out a year or so after the “Flashdance” and “Footloose” dance epics and continues to follow the safe corporate formula to sell soundtrack albums and feature the production company’s (Universal) then current mediocre music acts. Paul Rodriguez shines in Cheech Marin’s role and it was cool to see Laurence Fishburne (credited as Larry Fishburne) before his real breakout into Hollywood films. The story is ok, but way too many insentience of characters being in the right place at the right moment to witness events that move the story along. It has a heart, but it’s been smothered with a lot of cheese. Still, I liked it.
