What are you reading?
Time

I just finished "Game of Thrones". The T.V. show is very similar to the book, and I have to give kudos to HBO for that.  It's not groundbreaking storytelling, but it was fun. Also, I've been flipping through a book called "Hawaiian Mythology" by Martha Warren Beckwith. It's more of a reference book, but I love the subject.  Another thing I would very much like to continue with, are the Fleming Bond novels.  I had been reading them in order of publication, but got sidetracked and distracted just a few pages into "From Russia With Love".

Here's what... When Shandar was like this,...
..what he would do is he would wriggle.
- Wriggle? - Yeah, and what happens...
..is the ropes gradually start to get some play in them, they start to get loose.
- Take my word for it. He would wriggle. - You sure?
So, you ready? Ready? All right, now start to wriggle.
That's right. Wriggle. See what I mean? That's it. That's a girl.
Wriggle. That's it. That's it.
- I'm wriggling. - Keep wriggling.
- Are you wriggling? - Uh-huh. I'm wriggling.
- That's good wriggling. - I don't wanna over-wriggle.
It's nice wriggling. That's it.
The ropes are starting to get loose. Come on, it's happening.
my hand's getting free. Keep wriggling. Don't stop now.

"The Spook That Sat By The Door"

9 Molotov Cocktails out of 10

This was a powerful civil rights message movie from the early 1970s.

This film was at one time banned out of fear that its content would further spark riots and widen the black civil rights revolution. It's a film of its time in the production area (very low budget T.V. show look), but its core message of "freedom" and how to fight the establishment is still as relevant as ever.

It's the story of how the CIA felt it had to recruit some African Americans to help them politicaly, but the agency had no intention to respect or embrace these new agents. One of the agents spends a number of years learning the tricks of the trade, then quits and returns to the slums to teach "his people" what he had learned in order to turn these tactics back on "The Man", and free the ghetto from racist oppression. The full film is on YouTube if anyone cares to see it.

I broke down and bought a box set.

That is the DVD box correct?  The blu ray one was super expensive when it first came out.

I personally like only the original film.

I am aware it was based on a French novel, not sure it ever received a proper English translation.

I think that's the English translation of the novel pictured behind the box set.

Looks like a re-printing that came out around the same time as the Tim Burton Planet of the Apes film judging from the image on the spine .
