Temple of Doom had so much wasted potential. I still enjoy it, but it could have been just as good as Raiders with the right direction. I think George and Steven had a good idea, they just didn't execute it right.
It had it's good moments, but the bad ones outweighed them. I can look past the cheesey lines and annoying screaming.
Crystal Skull was an instant failure from the beginning. I was dying to see it, but for some reason I knew it was going to suck before I went to the theatre. I ignored my gut feeling and later wished I hadn't.
People wanted to see a new Indy film, but the smart thing to have done was to have left it alone.
I can live without another film. I read all the novels when I can and I find them rather enjoyable. Indiana Jones in film, ended for me with Last Crusade. I can bitch about Indy 4 for days, but is easier to just forget about it. I have done that with the Star Wars prequels, so I can do the same with Indy.
It isn't just Lucas and Spielberg destroying great franchises either. I cringe at the New Battlestar Galactica and the piece of Craprica. It is the nature of hollywood to do that. They take a big name and roll out their wheel-barrels to collect the money, whether or not they respected the franchise. George and Steven just happened to do that to their own franchise, making themselves look terrible.
