Info & Help Wanted: is there a way to color correct the ghostbusters blu rays to look like how spook central says it should look?

clarity isn't the issue he has with it. it's that some of the colors are wrong, contrast is wrong it's much better but not 100% on the 4k mastered ghostbusters 1 but not ghostbusters 2. plus there's black crush on ghostbusters 1.

I wasn't talking about clarity, I was talking about color.

Last web series/tv show seen

Finally got around to watching Fargo.

Holy crap. I didn't think a TV-show remake of the movie would be worth watching at all, but it got so much positive buzz (and, you know, Emmys and such) that I had to give it a shot.

To my pleasant surprise, not only was it not a remake of the movie - it's actually (sort of) a sequel to it! (In that it takes place in the same fictional universe, but almost two decades later.)

Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton both delivered incredible performances, and the story had just the right mix of offbeat/quirky and darkness that made the movie so much fun to watch.

I wasn't sold on Key and Peele when they first showed up, but by the third or fourth time the show went back to them I found myself enjoying their scenes more than I expected.

Wasn't too keen on how Lester's brother was just sort of forgotten about in the last few episodes, and the fish thing was a little weird, but other than that, it was quite excellent. Looking forward to the second season!

9/10 bloody hammers

Star Wars Episode III: Labyrinth Of Evil (Released)

I may one of these days. I don't actually hate Premiere, I've never had any deal-breaking issues with it. FCP just came with such a good suite of applications that worked very well together.

The only reason I haven't really tried Vegas is that, to my knowledge, it doesn't work with YUV color, while Premiere has no issue with it. I prefer to keep the colorspace the same through the entire workflow.

Of course, this is a topic for another thread, so I'll leave it at that.

The Hobbit (2014) - Resource and idea thread

Not that I'm trying to criticize anyone's attempts here, but I'm surprised at the number of people who don't seem to want to wait until the EE of BotFA comes out. To me, that's the one that's clearly missing large chunks of important stuff in its theatrical form.

I've always been planning to do a 3-in-1 edit for myself and my relatives/friends (which I will, of course, share online as well), but I decided as soon as the credits started rolling on BotFA that I wouldn't touch it until I had the EE Blu-Ray in hand. There's just too much that's clearly missing that I feel is necessary to build a proper conclusion, especially when I plan on cutting the final battle to complete and utter shreds in my version.

Of course, if the EE comes and nothing substantial is added, I'm gonna be pretty pissed...

And before anyone asks, it'll be done when I have time to finish it. Be patient, and it'll be here before you know it.

Quoting, underlining and bolding this before you-know-who shows up.

But on a serious note, what new deleted scenes are you adding this time? The added Rebellion subplot was something that really made the edit for me in v2, and I've never actually sat and watched any deleted scenes from ROTS, so I honestly have no idea what else there is.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

I'd suggest the same, but for some people that isn't feasible for other, non-cost-related reasons. For instance, my uncle doesn't own an HDTV, so he has no need for a BR player, and as most (all?) BR players are HDMI-only now, he wouldn't be able to use one anyway, so I gave him DVD-5 copies.

But anyway, glad I was able to help you, Bobby D! Enjoy!

JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit: turning a mediocre trilogy into one really good film (Released)
Time

Off the top of my head, from the extended editions of 1 and 2, I'd definitely include:

An Unexpected Journey

 • The small "feels like magic" exchange between Bilbo and Gandalf
 • Bilbo seeing the Shards of Narsil and talking to Elrond about staying in Rivendell
 • Bilbo and Thorin overhearing Gandalf and Elrond talking about the "strain of madness" in Thorin's bloodline

The Desolation of Smaug

 • Most of the added Beorn stuff, especially if he's featured more in the EE of Five Armies - of course, since I'd probably cut Dol Guldur and most (or all) of the White Council, I'd cut the Necromancer and Dol Guldur talk from these scenes
 • All of the extended Mirkwood scenes, including Gandalf's mention of a "dark enchantment" in the river
 • Bilbo vouching for Thorin in Laketown
 • The short bit of Bilbo, Balin and Thorin talking about the woods and birds that used to be on the hills by the Mountain

Other than that, I agree that most of the EE additions don't do much to help the film(s), but all of these seem very worthwhile to me, even for a single-film edit. (Plus, Bilbo is in all of these scenes, and is the focus of all except the Beorn and Mirkwood scenes, which, coupled with cutting out a bunch of extraneous crap, helps keep the focus on ... well ... the titular Hobbit.)

Info Wanted: is there any prequel edits that get rid off a lot of the problems but still works with both of the clone wars series? if not can someone do that?
Time

To be absolutely crystal clear:

The 2003-2005 Clone Wars "micro-series" is entirely non-canon in the current Disney/LFL universe. And yes, that includes the way Anakin is Knighted and the way Threepio gets his gold plating.

Both of those things obviously happened, but there is currently no canon story that describes either event.

STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread

I was wary about Lando's appearance, but it worked out very well. They definitely nailed his character.

But I have to say that, again, I really hate the animation on this show. Why does everyone move like they're either made of rubber or are underwater? Everyone's so bouncy and unnatural and it really irks me...guess it's good that I'm watching this one week-to-week instead of binging it all at once like I did with The Clone Wars. I can almost handle this shitty animation when it's spaced out.

Info: Buffy The Vampire Slayer (TV Show) "Remastered" in HD
Time

It seems pretty clear to me from Simon's blog that they're handling the 16:9 conversion of The Wire with great care. I would, of course, prefer they stick to 4:3 as much as anyone, but it doesn't seem like they're doing the hack job that Buffy seasons 1-3 are enduring.

I'm kind of hoping that the broadcast version of The Wire HD will be 16:9 while the Blu-Ray will keep the original 4:3, but that's kind of a pipe dream, it seems.
