What do you look for in a friend?

I’ve kept my eye on this question for awhile now and I’m really surprised that so few people have answered it seriously.

In my defense, I’ve never had a close friend, and no casual friends since high school, so it’s not a question I could seriously answer.

Well I consider you an internet friend. Does that count for anything?

Sometimes I put my foot in my mouth.

I hope no one took the post above the wrong way; I was strictly speaking of off-line friends. I do consider most of you guys my friends.

Yeah, the comic ages go in this order:

  • Platinum Age (1897-1938)
  • Golden Age (1938-1945)
  • Atom Age (1945-1956)
  • Silver Age (1956-1971)
  • Bronze Age (1971-1986)
  • Modern Age (1986-present)

Course, I’m not a fan of that “Modern Age” designation; it’s too broad. I prefer breaking it up thusly:

  • Copper Age (1986-1991)
  • Dark Age (1991-2000)
  • Modern Age (2000-present)

How many times has DC rebooted it’s universe?

The ones I can think of:

Crisis on infinite earths

Zero hour

Final Crisis?

New 52

Rebirth

Showcase #4 (Also, Rebirth isn’t technically a reboot, but eh, semantics really).

Why isn’t it a reboot?

A reboot, at least how I see it, is a universal restart of continuity. Rebirth was just a retcon of some elements of the previous reboot (almost entirely undid the reboot for the Superman books, but for, say, Flash, they just re-introduced some characters previously rebooted out of existence).

By that standard, Zero Hour isn’t a reboot, either.

I stand by it, then, though I haven’t read that one so idk.

Zero Hour was basically DC’s attempt to debug the post-Crisis continuity. From what I’ve read, it didn’t work.

Oh, it certainly does.

They all suck, though, reboot or not.

I don’t think that the positives from believing in something without evidence are worth it.

I have found soft evidence for the divine in bouts of synchronicity, in the depth of thought in spirituality and philosophy, and in the universal aspects of morality. I don’t expect my subjective experiences/analyses to win over anyone beyond myself — especially not the committed empiricist — but it’s enough for me to make a leap to faith.
