Since I abandoned my original PT rewrite, I've been looking forward to doing another whole new one. However, this time I don't want to just make things up out right out of the blue, augmenting it with bits and pieces taken from various sources. This time I want to work within the confines of the Expanded Universe, the Expanded Universe as it existed prior to the release of TPM; there is nothing I want to contradict, regardless of whether I like it or not.
Basically, I'm asking for help in pooling together all the bits and pieces of info pertaining to the EU's original conception of the PT storyline/characters. I know many of posters here aren't into the EU or, at least, are casual fans at best with no intimate knowledge of that aspect of the SW Universe. However, any help would be appreciated, even if it's just basic references to books or links to offsite blogs/sites/etc.
Thanks in advance.
How did you know?

I vaguely remember your old avatar(s?), what was it?
Do you get to make movies now?

Should Anakin/Vader have been at Padme's funeral?
With all this talk of 80s cinema, perhaps I should bring up Poltergeist III. Nancy Allen was in that as well ...
There is a reason why the multiverse theory is a cure-all when it comes to discrepancies within franchises ...
I miss DBrennan already ;-(
Dracula (1931)
I frankly don't get the praise that everyone gives this film. It's poorly written, poorly directed, and most of the cast sucks. On the other hand, I do like the Castle Dracula/Carfax Abbey sets, and the initial scene with Dracula and his brides rising from their coffins (minus the vampire bug part) is beautifully shot. 5/10
Dracula (Spanish version) (1931)
This is somewhat better than the American version, with a largely better cast and tighter writing. It's still built on the same crappy script, though, and Carlos Villarias - regardless of his wonderfully lecherous grin - is inadequate as Dracula. 5/10
The Pit and the Pendulum (1961) - 6/10
House of Usher (1960) - 6/10
Firestarter (1984)
Yet another Stephen King adaptation that wholely fails to do the source material any degree of justice. All the depth and nuance that makes the novel as good as it is is completely absent here, the direction is completely wrong, and almost every actor has been miscast. 5/10
I knew right away that LDDB stood for LaserDisc Database, regardless of the fact that I've never heard of the site before. Now isn't that ironic or what?
You don't live under a bridge by any chance, do you XyZ/ABC?
My Star Wars interest include the OOT (primarily SW & TESB) and the pre-PT EU.
I post on the OT.com forums the most (even taking non-SW forums into account).
I've been here about - oohhh - over two years, give-or-take.
I also am a fan of Stargate (film and film-related tie-in novels only; SG-1 and its spinoffs don't float my boat much anymore), The Simpsons (pre-season 10), Roger Corman, and my greatest dream is to become the director George Lucas should have been.

If this turns out to be a stealth reboot of Stargate, I will be perplexed yet intrigued.
I haven't seen Stargate in a long time, but maybe more akin to the monolith in 2001.

Perhaps, but it still got Kershner the Empire gig.

Yeah, he's always had a hard time pronouncing his own fictitious proper nouns. Other examples of this are Naboo ("Nay-boo")
and Dooku ("Doe-koo").

Give "Eyes of Laura Mars", (which Lucas screened before hiring Kershner) a spin sometime.

Though I must admit the basic concept of Plagueis has some merit, the grand-daddy of evil if you will. Or was that supposed to be Bane?
^THAT'S a death threat?! LOL!

It's my belief that there are multiple 'derelict' ships, as seen in Alien, around the universe and this movie focuses one one (or more) of the other ones. Maybe they go around the universe 'giving fire' to humans and/or other species.
The Tomb of Ligeia (1964)
This was a beautifully shot film, and Vincent Price is as entertaining as ever. However, the film was also overlong, and I don't feel that it all came together very well in the end. 5/10
The Premature Burial (1962) - 6/10

Surely there must be a few people on this forum who can find at least something redeeming about the prequels? I don't love them, but at the very least I feel they boast a lot of good to great albeit poorly executed ideas.

secrethistory is also flagged for me.
I no longer have any desire to thrust many PT-derived elements into any rewrites I make in the future. For me, any portrayal of the Sith I make will be based on the Sith as they were portrayed in the EU prior to the release of the PT - so that means no Darth title, no Rule of Two, no silly red-lightsabers-only rule, an emphasis on the Sith as masters of sorcery and alchemy, etc.
