What in the EU would you keep?
Time

We all know that the EU's going to get at least a partial reboot in the near future. So, with that in mind, what parts of the EU would you like to see remain -- or added, if you wish -- in the canon? It can be anything you want -- complete stories, individual people, places, or things -- anything.

Here's my list:

NOVELS

The Thrawn Trilogy

I, Jedi

The Corellian Trilogy

The Hand of Thrawn Duology

Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire

Dark Forces: Rebel Agent

Dark Forces: Jedi Knight

COMICS

The pre-ROTJ Marvel Star Wars comics (this includes the main series along with the various one-shots and most of the UK stories, but none of the Ewoks or Droids stuff)

The Star Wars newspaper strip by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson

Tales of the Jedi: Ulic Qel-Droma and the Beast Wars of Onderon

Tales of the Jedi: The Saga of Nomi Sunrider

Tales of the Jedi: The Freedon Nadd Uprising

Crimson Empire

Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand

Star Wars Republic #27: "Starcrash"

The Bounty Hunters: Aurra Sing

Star Wars Tales: "Extinction"

Star Wars Tales: "The Princess Leia Diaries"

Star Wars Tales: "First Impressions"

Star Wars Tales: "Storyteller"

Star Wars Tales: "George R. Binks"

A Valentine Story

SHORT STORIES (I really need to re-read a lot of the short stories, so don't consider this a comprehensive list)

"The Most Dangerous Foe"

"Dark Vendetta"

"A Tale from the Dark Side"

"Light and Shadow"

What do you HATE about the EU?

EU has been considered canon ever since it began its miserable existence.

Eh, not quite. It's only the modern EU which began in the 90's which was (mis)identified as canon. As far as I know, there was no canon policy for the early stuff made in the 70's-80's, especially since no real effort was put into maintaining continuity between the different books and comics written by the different writers.

The original which looks good in stills is pretty cheesy stuff (all those references to Hades shoehorned in) and where the Hell is it meant to be set Liverpool or that someplace in America where Perpugilliam 'the twin dilemma" Brown was born?

The accents are as weird as hell.

It's set in the British States of America =P

something I always wondered about the PT

I just had a weird thought (a tad off topic) while thinking about the parallels between Episode I and SW (Ep IV).

Amidala is the MacGuffin of Episode I. She is the Death Star plans.

Now I have these hilariously bizarre images of Natalie Portman being forcibly stuffed into Artoo and her flattened body being projected onto a screen in my head.

Who should the villain(s) of the sequel trilogy be? (if the sequel trilogy has villains)
Time

I wish I had had regular Internet access back when the "Palpatine is a clone of Sidious" thing was making the rounds; it would have be amusing to read what was bound to be blatant hoop-jumping rationalizations (being a fan of the PT at the time, though, I might have bought into it).

New character revealed!

Bah. Give me a good guy who looks like Jason Voorhees, weilds a red lightsaber, but isn't a Force-user, and then I'll be interested.

Sounds like something George would have come up with for the Clone Wars.

George is incapable of creating ugly protagonists.

Obi-Wan37, if you're really looking for an in-depth look at what's wrong with the prequel trilogy, check out the reviews at Red Letter Media.

 http://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/star-wars-episode-1-the-phantom-menace/

These reviews articulated what I always felt about what was wrong with these moves, but couldn't put into words. They're quite lengthy, but well worth it.

Those reviews are far too dark, and besides, whenever reviewers like that criticize the prequels, they never note anything positive about the films, and when they do, it's always along the lines of "sure, this was okay, but this was awful", when in truth the thing that was "okay" was actually awesome and the thing that was awful was actually just a small flaw. For example a prequel-hater might say, "sure the action was okay, but the acting was awful", when in truth the action was fantastic and the acting wasn't bad enough to outweigh the other positive things, like the very well-done tragedy and the great amount of Jedi and a look at how things were before Palpatine took over.

Would you mind if I ask how old you are?

It's not the age, it's the mental capacity.
