I loathe the whole notion of "official" canon, so consider me one of those people who aren't pleased with the idea of making the films and the NuEU 110% compatible with one another. Continuity should be an option, not a prerequisite.

Well, I finished watching the first four seasons of Andromeda (minus a couple episodes that I deliberately skipped over), and what I have to say is this:

I'm not angry at the way this show was derailed after the first half of the second season -- how it was turned into an incoherent mess with horribly misdeveloped characters and awful continuity -- just incredibly disappointed and very, very, very sad.

I still like the first season-and-a-half of the show, though -- along with a handful of episodes from the third -- and therefore I'm going to try to create my own rewrite of the series sometime in the future, one which stays true to the spirit of the show as it was in the beginning (that'll be an incredibly daunting task for me, though).

I'm pretty open about my preferance for the OOT/dislike of the PT when I post on TFN, and I've never received any bans.

Of course, there was that one time when a mod subtlely threatened to ban me for starting a "canon war" just because I considered the concept of personal canon a valid form of canon ... 

The "bald Alice Cooper" comparison I make is based on Bane's facial tattoos

which are virtually identical to the makeup Cooper often wears around his eyes

This is why I don't buy into that "Lucas is an auteur" crap the gushers on TFN like to go on about. Without others to give him advice and aid, Lucas is a blind man trapped in the middle of a vast, empty ocean under a moonless, starless midnight sky.

I started reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but after three chapters I gave up; the dialogue is a tedious chore to read through, and I'm just not enjoying it.

I'm disappointed that there's no Darth Sipid or Darth Ane in the EU.

*sigh* Lucas must like destroying peoples' ability to suspend their disbelief.

I would have preferred that look for Bane over the stupid bald Alice Cooper look he's currently saddled with.

If stormtroopers don't have to be able Force-sensitive to be affected by Jedi mind tricks and Motti doesn't have to be Force-sensitive in order to receive a Force choke, then Leia doesn't have to be Force-sensitive in order to receive a telepathic broadcast from Luke.  

I've heard that Lucas was a big fan of Dark Empire, so I wouldn't be surprised if he got the idea from there.

Maybe that's precisely why it didn't make the final cut. There's a quote in The Making of ROTJ (I'll find it later) where someone asked GL if the uniforms and sets for the Rebel fleet shouldn't be more beaten up and distressed. Lucas answered that the Rebels actually had superior equipment compared to the Empire, and that's why they ended up winning the civil war.

Go figure.

Lucas' logic never fails to perplex me.

I find it sad and disappointing that virtually every fictional franchise I've ever taken a liking to has become hopelessly tarnished or ruined by creatively-deficient hacks.
