Possible Worlds (2000)

Had I seen this movie when I was younger, I probably wouldn't have liked it all that much. After all, it is a pretty slow film, there isn't much colour or energy in the proceedings, and it pulls a bait-and-switch maneuver when it reveals that

!!!SPOILERS!!!the main character is just a dreaming brain in a jar and the titular possible worlds don't actually exist!!!SPOILERS!!!

Now that I'm older, though, I can appreciate the quiet, melancholy beauty of it all. Plus it has Tom McCamus in a starring role -- I'll watch him in anything (even that dreadful POS Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen).

A

Jeremiah Johnson (1972) - A

Blancanieves (2012)

This is the best feature-length, live-action film I've seen in a long time and certainly one of the most original takes on the story of Snow White I've ever seen. (That it's also a homage to silent B&W films certainly doesn't hurt, of course).

I was also quite captivated by the performance of Macarena Garcia, who played the adult Snowhite; she's one of the most wholesomely beautiful actresses I've ever seen and I'd definitely like to see more of her work.

A/A+

Moving (1988) - B

Black Robe (1991)

Well, that was certainly depressing. Well written and performed, but depressing all the same. I wouldn't want to be a Jesuit priest living in Quebec in the 17th century, I can tell you that much.

B+/A-

Nightwaves (2003)

I only watched this movie for Sherilyn Fenn, and she did a good job with what she had to work with. The movie itself, though? Standard made-for-TV fare -- mediocrity at its blandest.

C

Blood Simple (1984)

So this is the Coen bros. first film, eh? Not bad for a first effort, I have to say. Still, it felt kind of truncated to me -- like a number of scenes had been cut out/never filmed -- so it came off as pretty uneven to me. I did enjoy seeing Frances McDormand in this, though; she looked exceptionally pretty in this role.

Star Wars: Knight of the Empire (The Second Episode in DuracellEnergizer's New PT Re-Write) *CANCELLED*
Time

Just in case anyone's wondering why I haven't updated lately, it's because I've spent the last couple weeks revising both my Episode I re-write (hopefully for the last time) as well as this very screenplay. Now that I've finished with both, I may be posting some new material soon.

And if you're wondering what the revisions to my Ep. I script was, there was only one major one: I changed the colour of Siri's lightsaber from fuchsia to yellow. Long story short, I've decided to stick hard to the idea that only ronin Jedi and other independent Force-adepts get unique lightsaber colours. Since Siri's a member of the Order of Coruscant -- and the Coruscanti Jedi traditionally stick to blue, green, and yellow sabers -- she has to follow the crowd.

The Movies You Would Like To See Made (Not SW)
Time

A Terminator prequel which chronicles the resistance's victory over Skynet. Ideally, the events of Terminator 3 and Salvation would be ignored, John Connor would be played by a lesser known actor, there would be no more CGI in it than there was in Terminator 2, and Arnold Schwarzeneggar would not make an appearance (at least not as a terminator).

An adaptation of the video game Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

An adaptation of the video game Clock Tower with Jennifer Connelly in a supporting role.

David Lynch's Ronnie Rocket.

Yes and no. The last time we communicated, things didn't end well between us. While the stuff leading up to that moment was largely my fault, she didn't handle that situation in particular half as well as she could have.

posting her picture as your avatar is reaching Norman Bates levels of creepy.

I was feeling pretty depressed last night, so I used it as an avatar as a form of catharsis. The misery is (mostly) out of my system now, so I'll change it (and poke fun at myself doing so).

This thread only works if you and DE keep this kind of stuff out of the other thread.

I've made promises before, inevitably breaking them almost every time. Therefore I make no promises -- period.

In this case, though, I'll make an exception*.

*An exception that will more likely than not fail to come to pass.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support

You all know that girl? That girl whom I've referred to every now and then as the girl who was the love of my life during high school? The girl who, unfortunately, never returned my feelings? The girl I never even got to say goodbye to? The one who I've never really gotten over even after all these years?

Well, I randomly stumbled upon her yearbook photo while dicking around on the 'Net. As I never got a copy of my school's 2005 yearbook, I never did get to see her graduation photo, and as a result I've had recurring dreams for years about going back to my high school in search of that photo, usually to no avail.

Perhaps now the dreams can finally come to an end. Perhaps now I can finally forgive her and move on.

Who is Ignoring You, and Who are You Ignoring? (was: Who is Ignoring You? (was: Hello all, I'm back!))

I've placed thejediknighthusezni on ignore.

Unlike any of the others I've ignored over the years, this closeted fudge-packing son of a whore is going to stay on ignore. I've had all I can take of his ultraconservative, conspiracy theorist hatemongering bullshit and I can certainly take no more.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place

it is hoped that your infirmity was treatable?

Well, I can walk fine and everything and always could, but the family doctor's told me I'm more susceptible to getting arthritis earlier in life than most other people. Seeing as my knees get noticeably hot when I walk around during the colder months, I guess that's the case.

Sad thing is I don't even now what condition I have -- if the doctors ever told my mother, she doesn't remember. I guess I should ask the doctor myself one of these days.

The point is that just because someone has a different worldview then you and they don't know certain facts, that does not make them stupid.

Claiming that the Earth can never run out of room, that it can support countless billions upon billions upon billions of human lives all at once indefinitely, is stupid.

Claiming that all Jews are to held responsible for the death of Christ for what some small group of Jews did over 2000 years ago is stupid.

Claiming that Jews created terrorism is stupid.

Claiming that Christians who do not keep the sabbath, do not abstain from "unclean" meats, and choose to celebrate holidays such as Christmas and Easter aren't true Christians is stupid.

Claiming that seeing flies emerge from a bag of garbage he claims to have sealed airtight is proof that flies can spawn from rotting trash is stupid.

Claiming that smoking tobacco is perfectly harmless 'cause it "kills the germs" and turns the smoke into steam is stupid.

And besides, as I've already said, I don't hate him merely for his low intelligence; the guy is also a bastard and a bully. He once tore a picture I had drawn up just for using electrician's tape to stick it to the refrigerator; I was born or developed in youth some weird hip misalignment which causes my feet to turn out to the sides, so for my entire childhood I had to live with him calling me a penguin; he beat me once and gave me a black eye just because I accidentally broke my glasses while playing with my sister; oh, and finally, when I was still a young kid, he went ahead and started fucking my mother when I was sleeping in the very same bed at the time.

And just FYI, I did try to heal the rift between us some years ago, but the man absolutely refuses to change -- if anything, he only gets worse -- so there is no point in bothering with the man anymore.
