Ranking the Batman films

Why would I dedicate space in my brain to Mask of the Phantasm? A movie I will never see, ever.

Well, if you have any interest in Batman at all (and I would assume so considering you’re viewing and posting in this thread), I wouldn’t recommend never seeing it ever, as it is pretty good (and much better than the large majority of live action Batman films).

THIS. A googolplex times THIS.

“The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension”

Ugh, talk about overrated.

Granted, my feelings on that movie are probably tainted by a college roommate who insisted it was the best movie ever, better than Star Wars, better than Raiders, better than anything else I’d ever seen.

Kind of sounds like some of the insane opinions on this forum, come to think of it. Maybe he’s a member here.

I tried to watch it last year, and I don’t think I got even halfway through before I turned it off. It didn’t appeal to me at all.

Musical Obsessions
Time

Over the last two nights, I’ve listened to the first four albums by Genesis. While From Genesis to Revelation and Trepass were both quite meh (especially the former), Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot were both pretty damn cromulent; I haven’t listened to as much prog rock as I’d have liked to, but both albums capture just what it is about the subgenre that really catches my interest.

Should I ever get around to buying a turntable one day, I’ll definitely add both Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot to my vinyl collection.

With that out of the way, I’ve now begun watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. [extraneous stuff excised] I think I’m going to be sticking with this series.

Over a month later, I’m gonna say NAH to this. A shame, really; I’ve enjoyed James Marsters in other roles I’ve seen him in and I was hoping to check him out in this, but half of the main characters (including the eponymous Buffy) and the tone of the show itself just don’t click for me; there’s just nothing of enough interest on the plate to keep me going forward.

Moving onward, I watched the first and only season of this show for the first time since the seventh grade, and I need not say anything more than this:

There should be a law against cancelling a good series left on a cliffhanger ending.

Goosebumps
Enjoyement: 7/10
As a film: 5/10

The ending was stupid (caused confusion, pretty much created a plot hole), some of the humour was pretty bad and the CGI was straight out of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. I still recommend checking it out, especially those who liked the books as kids.

I remember how much everyone adored those books in elementary school. Then I finally picked one up and just couldn’t stand it. It was awful. So when I saw the trailer for this, my eyes rolled out of my head.

The TV show was so cheesy and awful that I kinda enjoyed it, but I avoided the books at all costs.

I was a great big fan of the books back in the day – hell, if it weren’t for them, I probably wouldn’t have become a prolific reader of anything but comics – and R. L. Stine became one of my favourite authors.

Come 2007 or so, though, and I just lost my taste for anything the guy writes. I began re-reading all the Stine novels I’d owned, and it was like experiencing Ed Wood in book form. Suffice it to say, all but three of those books have since been donated to local thrift stores (Two I kept for nostalgic reasons, the third for the awesome interior art.).

What didn't you like about TFA? SPOILERS
Time

The only two beefs I have with TFA which I feel like remarking on:

 1. The abysmal waste of Max von Sydow. This man (who just happens to be one of my favourite actors, BTW) was in The Seventh Seal, for Christ’s sakes; give him a role worthy of his talents!

 2. That BB-8 wasn’t given a female persona (Pretty minor and inconsequential nitpick, I know.).

After watching the juvenile fan fiction trash film The Force Awakens, which was without question the single worst movie I have ever seen, there is nothing in the world which could convince me to watch Episodes VIII and IX.

For a moment there, I thought I’d wandered onto the IMDb boards.
