Eh, Callista’s barely in this book. Luke just ruminates on her a bit, then she shows up briefly at the end. She’s a pretty inconsequential character in the grand scheme of things and not even the worst aspect of the trilogy.

No. I only caught a handful of episodes as a kid. I gave the series a re-watch some years ago and found it quite enjoyable until I got to the unwatchable crap in the sixth season.
