I miss that brief period of time pre-TESB when Force powers consisted solely of hightened senses/reflexes and subtle psychic abilities.
I for one really wish they would have just used Lucas’ treatments, brought in some good writers, and directors, and given us a new story, rather than regurgitating an old one. I really don’t see the point in rebels beating an empire, and Palpatine again, or having another Jedi apprentice turn bad, and be redeemed. All they ultimately have done is greatly diminish the importance of many of the story arcs, and characters in the OT, introduce the nihilisric idea, that the same evil has to be beaten over, and over again, and have new less interesting characters fulfill the destinies of the old ones. I really believe the Star Wars universe, and lore would have been greatly expanded upon, if Lucas’ story would have been followed, and we would have gotten a real sense of finality to the story, rather than having more or less the same ending, which the ST has already proven does not have to be the end. There’s nothing in the ST story, that would prevent Palpatine from returning again, as the means of his return is so vague, that it can be used again, and again.
Agree 100%. At worst, a competent execution of Lucas’ concepts would’ve been of Rebels quality. I could’ve braved the likes of helicopter lightsabers and light-slingshots so long as I was spared green milk.
Fortunately for me, I’m capable of unplugging myself from shit I don’t care for and discarding it as negligible apocrypha*, so the ST as-is isn’t as great a burden on my soul as it may be on others’.
*On my good days, anyway.
Anakin Starkiller’s obviously a younger member of this forum, and was first exposed to SW by way of the PT/SE '04. I can understand gravitating to what one was first exposed to.
What baffles me is his inability to comprehend why Sebastian Shaw as the redeemed Anakin isn’t horribly illogical.
I don’t believe fandom is an absolute bad but there is some inherent toxicity to it, in regards to the possessive nature it engenders in fans. That’s not healthy and the way the internet works really just serves to heighten the hyperbolic and extreme emotions and unhealthy tendencies. I don’t really know if there’s a solution or anything but it’s a complicated issue.
I imagine a vastly improved personal life would solve many problems.

I had trouble discerning whether or not Force ghost Anakin had hair or was bald (standard definition television, remember), but I had absolutely no trouble telling both he and Uncle Fester were played by the same actor.
I read Dune only once, but I absolutely loved it. It had a tremendous impact on my taste in sci-fi, and has become the gold standard by which I evaluate every other sci-fi story.
The sequels, meanwhile, didn’t impress me so much. Dune Messiah was good, but it didn’t floor me like it’s predecessor, and Children of Dune was only fair. God Emperor wasn’t bad — it was better than Children — but the cynicism was so ripe, it turned me off from finishing it.
After the shitshow that was 2019, it had better be happy.

Why should Revisited fans who don’t like the ST suffer?
Marjorie Eaton with chimp eyes looks like “a guy in a cheap mask”, whilst Ian McDiarmid in cheap ROTS makeup looks “remastered”.
I don’t share that opinion, either.
Both have make up effects applied, the original holds up poorly whereas Ians make up looks a lot more organic and believable. In fact while watching the original version i always felt the emperors face was about to melt off at any stage of the movie.

It primarily has to make sense to the people that watch the movie. If it doesn’t look like the burnt guy we saw earlier on, if we can’t recognize him, the movie makers have failed at story telling.

That it’s the second SW film after Solo I haven’t watched a single second of.
I’ve decided against pursuing a full SW Saga rewrite, and will be cancelling my Ep. I rewrite currently in process. I spent almost a decade working on Star Wars screenplays, and I really don’t want to spend another; I have other stories I’ve pushed aside, and I want to recommit myself to them.
I’m not abandoning the Reconstructed Saga totally; I’m going to continue developing and fleshing my ideas out in this thread, and once I’ve a cohesive narrative in place, I’ll write story treatments. But that’s as far as I’m willing to go from this point forward.

I seem to be in the minority in liking this film.
