From what I’ve heard Looper is a very interesting movie so if anything we should be getting a “radical” film. Though whether it will be a well written film is another matter entirely

He also directed ‘Fly’ from Breaking Bad, which, boiled down, is essentially just two men trapped in a room with a fly stretched out for an hour, and it turned out to be one of the best episodes of the entire series.

How the shit did you forget Ozymandias?

I never watched Season 5

What!? You need to watch it, seriously. It’s the best last season of any TV show ever.

Eh, I’ve watched the first few episodes and never felt compelled to finish it. Season 4 ended perfectly with an amazing build-up, climax, and one of the most satisfying resolutions in any TV series. From what I’ve seen of Season 5, it just felt kinda forced and unnecessary, and a total mood killer after binging the first 4.

As great as the Season 4 finale was you don’t want to see how the overall story ends?

From what I remember of the spoilers, essentially everyone dies iirc, so yeah, meh.

Not quite.

The point is that George said countless times that I - VI is meant to be one big long movie, with each “episode” being just a snippet of said story.

Lucas has said a lot of revisionist crap over the years.

You can say it makes no sense if you just watch the OT by itself, but that’s not the point, because I - VI is one long story.

Too bad the way the films were written and shot don’t reflect that, Lucas’ later cinematic mutilations and claims to the contrary nontwithstanding.

Yes, the classic animated Disney films … the ones that were traditionally animated … the ones Disney won’t make anymore 'cause 3D is oh so much more commercially viable even though it probably isn’t but Disney is a soulless corporate machine with no artistic vision or respect for their films or the man who founded their company whose legacy they’ve been pissing on since the 2000s. . . .

tl;dr: I hold modern Disney completely in contempt, and for reasons unrelated to SW.

To upset Frink. Duh.

I’m just happy she’s not dressed like Slave Leia.

Unfortunately, I’m sure anime-slave-leia-rey exists in some low corner of the internet.

Unless she’s [REDACTED] someone with tentacles I wouldn’t really want to see it. Just seems wrong.

The new Star Wars comics - a general discussion thread

I mean, I get that comic companies do this all the time, but the last Vader series finished what like 4 months ago? And it’s not like it’s a reboot or anything either.

This is Marvel & DC’s patented sales gimmick. They pull it all the time – regardless of how long a title has run, regardless of whether or not if they’re doing yet another stupid multiversal reboot – just to boost sales.

Regardless, I’m not looking forward to it.

I sometimes watch the SE’s too.

Why?

It’s refreshing to watch them every once in a while.

Why?

'Cause watching a dire piece of shit really puts things in perspective and allows you to appreciate good movies all the more.

I guess this explains watching the prequels as well.

And TFA.

That few?

Phantasm: Ravager (2016)

Coscarelli had two decades to work on this movie – two decades to make sense of the convoluted nonsense in the prior three sequels, tie up all the loose ends, and provide a satisfying conclusion to the series. Instead he produces this ugly, cheap-looking, go-nowhere “story” which only succeeds in wasting the talent of the actors and the time of the fans who watched it.

I suspected it was the case before I watched this movie, and now I’m adamant it’s the case: Phantasm should’ve been a stand-alone movie. It was a surreal, unsettling nightmare encapsulated on film; it didn’t need four directionless sequels to expand a story which wasn’t there.
