Why Change this its absolutely perfect as is!

I cant see palps going all the way to the industrial sector just for a chat with Maul, whereas he is just in his private quarters having a private conversation with him! where he can control the situation

What I would love to see is what is Mauls public persona?

I love the change done, as in this pic above. Gives coruscant more real feel, lower to the floor are the slums so this idea of a smog kinda of atmosphere gives it more character. reminds me of period dramas we see on TV. Smoky london city scenes with more of a futuristic touch. love it! tough the mustafar looks gd i think it seems to clique and the idea that Sidious is in Mustafar doesnt make me feel like OMG hes actually on same planet as the Jedi :O

Keep sidious on corsucant it keeps him closer to the republic instead of throwin him half way across the galaxy to talk to maul. Besides that gives more time for Maul to get to tatooine instead of mustafar. I do like the flames one on coruscant tho but maybe little too much and maybe too distractin from maul very few lines in the film lol

You may start writing when ready.

I'm a list fiend (I even reorganized the official ESBR list for Adywan, which he hasn't commented on yet), but I think its a little too early for a list, especially of the Radical Redux thread.  Some of the suggestions here involve refilming all of the movies!  When the time comes when RotJR is finished or at least in production, we'll have a TPM thread where we can just focus on it.  Just remember what you suggested here!

Will do. Cant believe people wanna basically start agen with the prequels. I just love the little nip and tucks that Adywan does.

2) when Vader is talking to Luke on the platform (after cutting Luke's hand off) you can see the shell of Vader's helmet moving in the wind.

Yeh, this has been mentioned. I'm not sure if i'll be doing anything with that because we do see that the hood part of the helmet is separate and it does help show just how windy it is up there.

This was Ady's response as I had mentioned the helmet thing a while back.

I have to agree with the others about making it stabilized. The point of Vader's helmet being bolted on makes perfect sense to me. Just my two cents.

Yea make sure it doesnt move in the wind, the stability of his suit makes him look tougher in the films. The idea that this mask that keeps him alive could possibliy blow off at some point concerns me, its like a bein on a life support machine that can switch itself off at random times coz the hospital board of governers didnt wanna put anymore more money to that ward. Darth Vaders suit is at the expensive of the Republic dammit, make it stable

As for the same shot of the Jedi Council appearing in TPM and AOTC: I believe it's mentioned on the audio commentary of the AOTC DVD that the Council scene originally wasn't in the script, and that they decided to add it later. They created the scene using bluescreen footage of Ewan and Hayden, and pasting the scene together using templates and footage from TPM.

I didnt knew that!

Thats why Ewan and hayden looks so fake cutout in these shots! They need some serious fix especially in the feet.

-Angel

Think all it needs in this shot it the cloaks more defining, they seem to blur into the floor slighty on this. Thanx for the upload didnt know bout the recycled footage. maybe we shud create a large list ready for Adywan lmao

Yes. I always found these type of replica characters lack of creativity and marketing purposes.

-Angel

Well put. Yoda should be the only one. Another thing that drives me up the wall is Orange and Yellow lightsabers grrrr i hate EU for crap like that! Blue, Green and Red are and should always be standard colours. The other colour that is exceptable is purple, love to idea that Windu searched for it but on a planet called Hurrikane.

Hurrikane?? wtf!

anyways yareel poof should like his name and dissappear but not too sure bout Yaddle going. Sod it replace her. Yoda ftw!

Thanx for the pic! Never noticed before lmao. Yareel Poof was a definate eye sore in the movie, not too sure about Yaddle though. Kinda liked the idea of this female version of Yoda but i do admit I do like the idea of Yoda being one of a kind in the films. I agree.

I knew i came up with good ideas sometimes lmao! Just like the idea that Vader in some dark part of the ship and the Imperial Officer kinda walks in on his personal space.

Dooku?  On the council?  I'm gonna go against this and say that and say no... not sure how long ago he left the order, but it just seems an unnecessary tie to AOTC.

I agree no Dooku on the Council mostly because we have Qui Gon who was quite defiant and this trait he got from Dooku, if they wouldn't Qui Gon on I don't think Dooku would of been. It would also bring up alot of issues between Dooku apprently never meetin Obi Wan before, everyone remember from episode 2?

I don't think the two entrances need to be made to look the same. Don't forget there is a north and south entrance to the base. although the mattes need enhancing they don't need to be exactly the same

i have things planned for the sequence where the shield generator is destroyed but i'm keeping this one secret until the edit is released.

as for vaders chamber, i do like the corridor idea abut not an airlock or lift. he wouldn't need a sterile environment so his wounds wouldn't get infected because they would have healed after all this time. i've always thought that the actual  meditation unit had some sort of inbuilt force field protecting Vader when he has his mask off and that his breathing apparatus was linked into its systems which would allow him to have his mask off for short periods of time. i won't be doing any changes to that apart from the entrance.

Hey guys,

several pages ago there was a discussion about the duel in the carbon chamber scene.  Right before luke falls in, vader does a cheesy lightsaber swipe, I guess to get luke to accidentally fall in the hole... I too never liked that scene so I came up with a possible solution: what if vader does a "force push"?  I know Ady doesn't want to use prequel stuff in the originals but I think it really adds something to the fight.  I don't like that luke is so stupid he doesn't realize he's gonna fall in.  I also think vader is showing how superior he is.  The force push would also occur in the middle of a bunch of other force powers (super jump, grabbing a lightsaber from across the room) so it flows well. I made a really crude mock up video where I cut out the swipe and added a really bad photoshop still with force push sound effect.  (I apologize for the really bad quality of the edit I've never done one before)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZOO7J0YM

let me know what you think...

-porkinsred6

here is a link to the screencap of the idea of vader's force push from the video:

vader force push

Though the idea that luke was force pushed into the pit is a good idea its just the fact that I always see luke as still a learner and this being an example of his inexperience. Should be left the way it is IMO

Many Thanx

DuTwan, you bring up some good points, don't worry about coming across as negative.

Personally, why I don't like Dooku saying Obi-Wan should join him and help him destroy the Sith, is because it is a pretty big statement, that is never followed up on. Why does he say that? Does he really want to destroy the Sith? Or simply want Obi-Wan to join his cause? It seems like such a random line.

The prequels, and especially AOTC do this a lot: what the prophecy is actually about isn't mentioned untill ROTS and the mystery of who ordered the clones is never solved. Also, Dooku states that the Trade Federation was betrayed by Sidious, and came to him for help, but in ROTS, they are seen talking to Sidious. In my opinion, all these little things are just illogical, contradictory, and confusing.

Bingowings, that picture of Dooku on the Jedi council looks really good! Great job man. I couldn't think of a way to do it, but this looks like something we could actually pull off. We need to give him other hands though, I think Plo Koon would like his back :P

According to the Revenge of the Sith book that ive tried to read but just dont have time lol. Sidious convinced Dooku he wanted to turn all the Jedi into a Sith army. The idea of him trying to get Obi to join him with a bit of a white lie too makes sense, if were not going by the book then Dooku is simply tryin to recruit Obi Wan while giving him a guilt trip too mentioning Qui Gon.

In this scene (with the first fly-over of the snowspeeders over the hill);

Maybe you could change the hill to something more appropriate, such as a snow mound as opposed to what looks like a Lilliputian mountain range.  Also, would we see the multiple shadows of the snowspeeders on the ground as they fly overhead

No we wouldn't see any shadows from the speeders because they are not close enough to the ground in this shot. The mountains don't need to be changed. its the canon that's throwing out the scale in this shot. i may change the contrast of the background to give it more distance

Monroville said:

Also, in the Wampa attack, would it be conceivable to add a bit of blood to Luke and the Taun-Taun (maybe even show blood fly out of Luke's mouth when he is hit), be it in the initial impacts of the Wampa claw and/or when they fall down into the snow.  An extra or alternative could also be to add some sound FX to indicate Luke's jaw breaking from the hit as well as the Taun-Taun's neck being broken (celery is a good stand by, if not sampling other movies that have some bone breaking sound FX).

Could also consider adding some bass to the Wampa's claw impacts (nothing too Michael Bayish) - just something to indicate a creaure with the power of an 18 wheeler behind it, and it's hitting Luke and his steed full force.  Maybe you could show BOTH of the Wampa's arms and hands as it is choking/breaking the neck of the Taun-Taun.  When we see the Taun-Taun (at 3:42) you could show 2 hands grabbing onto the Taun-Taun's neck and twisting (or at least manipulate the Taun-Taun head to violently turn to the right with a sudden SNAP sound FX)

You could also show the Taun-Taun's eyes get wider when it starts freaking out from smelling the Wampa, and/or even see if you could have the Taun-Taun spin it's head quickly to the left (at 3:40) to face the Wampa when Luke gets knocked off (to look at the sudden movement coming from its flank)

The problem with adding blood to a scene is that it can end up looking really fake. i've attempted to change the position of the claw as it strikes luke but the way he rolls as he is hit makes positioning the claw to strike his face impossible. plus his body hides most of the claw in that shot so i couldn't move it to in front of his head to accomplish this.  Turning the wampas head or widening his eyes again may look good on paper but you have to remember i can only work with what is on the screen with things like this. But has anyone noticed that the wampa is actually backhanding luke in this shot. I guess they only made a right arm when it should have been swiping him with its lefts arm when he knocks him off

Monroville said:

You "could" change the footsteps in the background to go from the the center to Luke, as opposed to directly behind him.  That would give us a better indication of how far he has walked.

I also noticed at the (3:54) scene in the youtube.com link, the entrance of the rebel cave is somewhat different that the one we see in the rebel transport scene.

the footsteps don't need moving. if you look at the video for that section you can clearly see which direction Luke is walking so moving the footsteps would screw this up.It's something that doesn't need to be done.

Also the problem with this scene , that has been mentioned before, isn't the fact that Luke turns his head too soon but way he follows the path of the falcon. I'll be doing something to fix this

The entrance to the rebel cave isn't different in that shot at all. its taken from a different angle and further  away from the entrance

vaderios said:

Something I always bothering me was the the scene when vader puts his helmet.

We see Piett enter the room and from the outside we see officers walking around and same set from different angle

Maybe vader's chamber suits a place more silent and deep to executor, not in a place when he can be visible.

i don't think this needs changing. wouldn't it make better sense if his chamber was close to the bridge instead of being deep within the bowels of the ship? I can't help thinking of the scene in spaceballs if Vader needed to get to the bridge in a hurry if he was so far away from it in his chamber. lol

Hello there everyone.

First of all, like everyone else I want to thank Adywan for his spectaular work on ANH and I'm looking forward to ESB.

While I realize it's much too late for this to have a real effect on the project, I'd like to call your attention to an interesting Web site on lightsabres, specifically the page on ESB errors: http://www.thelightsaber.com/web/Goofs/ESB/esbgoofs.htm

While Adywan's ANH edit addressed some, but not all, of the problems mentioned there in ANH, I was hoping these problems with the lightsabres could be taken into account for ESB and ROTJ.

i'm pretty sure that all those errors on that site were fixed in ANH:R apart from the one shot of the length of Vaders sabre. All those errors are being fixed in ESB:R

Sojourn said:

Also, out of curiosity -- why did you flip the Executor bridge shot (minus the section in the middle, with Vader)?

it was for a couple of reasons. Piette kept changing sides of the bridge in the original so i have fixed this and he is now only on the one side throughout that sequence. i had to flip the last shot for continuity and also because the added visual reference of the control centre in the background

well the new fur came today and although its the correct colour the length of the pile may not be long enough for the wampa, but this was the longest pile that is available so i'm going to have to enhance it with some hair from party wigs. i guess that's what comes from living in such a crappy country. i can't seem to get anything i need over here

I share ur pain there Adywan the UK is crappy!!! Even worse with the recession haha!

Never notices the lightsaber effects before in ESB, well i mean never noticed the mistakes shud i say lol

Nice find Bingowings! I also agree that the footage is beyond repair.

Welcome back Vaderios

It might not be beyond restoration if Lucas released all the cutting room floor stuff to a professional team but I can't see that happening.

The level of acting in these clips is better than anything in ROTJ let alone the prequels. Harrison is very Han here in a way that he can't seem to bother to be in ROTJ.

I suppose yea just im presuming that because Harrison believed Han Solo should of died in this episode he didn't really wanna act as much :S?

Thanks for the words of welcome and compliments guys.

I choose to insert Dooku in TPM's final moments because it's subtle, and because, to me, it works two ways: Mace's line and the pan hint at Palpatine being the master, and when Dooku shows up, it both creates some ambiguity (is that old guy the true Sith master? / who is he?) and sets him up as being the new Sith apprentince for the next two movies. Also, as Bingowings mentioned, it creates a bit more of an arc for Dooku, and makes him a stronger character.

ben_danger, I hate to disagree with you, but I don't think having Dooku on the council in TPM would work, because he and Obi-Wan can't meet before AOTC ("It's a shame our paths have never crossed before").

On the topic of Dooku: next to Sidious, he is the only recurring villain in the PT. Maul, Fett and Grievous are all in only one movie. Dooku dies early on in ROTS, butI think we could make his character feel less disposable if we add as much to him as we can. Here are some thoughts I have:

  • Show him at the end of TPM at Qui-Gon's funeral (like in the images I posted)
  • Leave in in Ki-Adi Mundi's line of him being a political idealist
  • In his conversation with Obi-Wan, remove the line "...and together we can destroy the Sith!" and add in the line "The Republic can not be fixed. It is time to start over", taken from his deleted scene with Padme.
  • Take out all references to him being Yoda's apprentice. I don't think that fits, considering Yoda's comments on Jedi training in ESB.

This way, I think we can give his character a little more depth

What do you guys think?

Though i do like the fact that it would be a nice subtle thing and would be quiet cool few things i gotta say with all due respect:

  • Show him at the end of TPM at Qui-Gon's funeral (like in the images I posted)

Though this would be good it depends in what context u want dooku to be there. For Dooku to be there he must have a reason. If he was there to see the passing of his old apprentice but watching from afar while feeling mixed emotions. As if he thinkin my old friend and apprentice Qui Gon is dead but its end justify the means? What you gotta remember guys is the Jedi possibly would of sensed Dooku's presence since "the shroud of the darkside" hadn't fallen by then.

  • Leave in in Ki-Adi Mundi's line of him being a political idealist

This should definately stay otherwise his leadership of the CIS kinda feels downplayed.

  • In his conversation with Obi-Wan, remove the line "...and together we can destroy the Sith!" and add in the line "The Republic can not be fixed. It is time to start over", taken from his deleted scene with Padme.

I do like the original line alot better basically because at that point in the film we haven't seen Dooku's true self yet. The idea of Dooku tryin to sow the seeds of deception in Obi Wan's mind is better automatically makin Dooku seem like a bad guy straight away.

  • Take out all references to him being Yoda's apprentice. I don't think that fits, considering Yoda's comments on Jedi training in ESB.

I say leave references in that Dooku had been Yoda's apprentice, just the whole feel of Star Wars bein about Fathers and Sons. Yoda then Dooku then Qui Gon then Obi wan then Anakin. Feels right and to mess with this kinda feels wrong.

Sorry if im bein too negative lol, as i said no disrespect, just my opinion lol

Many Thanx

Well just to see my screen name on a Star Wars film would probably make me shed a tear lmao. All the new shots and stuff Adywan looks great! I just love Revisited saga so far, keep up the good work. Just thought, i know you may have already finished this section but when luke leaves Hoth, maybe we could see his X-wing fly off with maybe a destroyer headin off into space as if in chase of the rebel fleet. That way we know that luke can get away without resistance but also make it look as if the Empire are still floating about.

Is it possible Adywan that we could know what scenes you are workin on at a certain time? Might be easier than a big list that people make and wanna see, would rather see everyone's focus into one scene/clip. Also any chanc we could know what you maybe workin on now Adywan?

Adywan uve done it agen, those new pics look amazin. Just gonna say that new ion pic looks waaayy better. Must admit i had never noticed the turret before and can totally understand why it was deleted. Just gotta ask Adywan, did you use Advanced lightening in After Effects in that scene? (Sorry if i repeatin an answer someone might of already said but. Why cant alot more ships be hit with the ion canon?

Simple answer being that an Ion canon needs time to recharge, says so in Empire at War which i know isnt really G-canon but makes alot more sense).

The Vader vs Luke scene looks amazin and I always got annoyed with the over all brightness of lightsabers in some scenes. Just a quick question while im here lol. U fixed the Vader helmet wobble during the "I am your father" bit?

Wow angel this image gives dagobah a bit more depth. Alot of people complain alot about windows being opened up in bespin and so on and so forth but i always felt that the OT always felt a bit claustrophobic in some indoor scenes and this picture makes dagobah more real than just an image of fog from fog machines lol. Liking the pics keep up the good work.
