It's silly to call a film set in the real world "dated" for reflecting the year/era it was made.

Movies that try to predict what the future will look like often date badly. We've only got seven months left for flying cars and working hoverboards to hit the market, and for a chain of Cafe '80's to open up.
 ;)

 Yeah good point.

Anyone else remember when that race of genetic supermen took over the world in the mid 1990s and started WW3?  Thank goodness we got that clean up so fast and shot them all off in the sleeper ships. We did such a good job cleaning that up it's almost like it didn't happen.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Wow. Fox finally got their crap together. This movie was exactly what this franchise needed. I'm actually looking forward to the next one.

Please tell me they finally made the focus of the story someone other then Wolverine,if they did that I would go see it in theaters.  I am just burnt out on all things Wolverine. It's the same with Batman in the DC universe. I don't hate either of them but they have been so over used I just don't care about them any more. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, but that is just how I feel right now.

Both characters were better when they had some human weaknesses and limitations. Turning them into unbeatable, unkillable demigods has made them both incredibly boring.

Thank you!  With everyone going on about how awesome and unbeatable they are i thought I was alone in finding them boring and I used to love these characters!  The fact that they are going to have Batman beat the snot out of Superman in the next movie is not going to help. How is there any dramatic tension in watching a character who never makes mistakes(because he is just that awesome)and can beat up Superman without breaking a sweat?  Give them some human failings or show that they are men who have to struggle to keep up with the more powerful superheros in their universes. This whole "They are popular so they are unstopable" stuff is just boring.  Oh and Fox,how about giving us a movie that has Xmen other then Wolverine in it?! You do know that Xmen is the name of a team who work together to solve problems and it isn't just the name of one guy who does everything right?

I am sorry but both the Xmen movies and the DC movie universe have been killed by the movies focusing on these two characters. Again I don't hate the characters but there are other characters who should get some screen time and these ones have been made boring.

The people who actually complain about such things never watch films that old?

And fedoras never go out of style. ;)

Yeah,I have two fedoras that i wear all the time.  Also the standard gray and black suits most people wear in those older movies are pretty close to what office workers wear today, the cut of the suits is really the only thing that has change. Whereas the colours and patterns, and materials that were used in the clothes from the decades you have mentioned are wildly different from what is worn today so it is easier to tell what decade the film is made in from the clothes. Generally speaking it's things like the cars and the lighting that give away the decade a film from the 30s-50s is made in,and it's the clothes that give away what decade a movie from the 60s-90s is made in so that contributes a lot to those films seeming more dated then others if you ask me.

You know it would be interesting if they made a movie about the last five years of the classic series run and all the battles JNt had to fight just to keep the show on the air when the top brass hated it. I don't know about anyone else but I would watch that movie.

It could just be 90 minutes of alternating shots of Michael Grade's face and a title card with just the word C...

(Oh wait I remember, Chris Morris already did that)

As long as it ends with a card pointing out that Grade is the only controller of the BBC who was never knighted I am all for it.
