If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

Yeah my local PBS station used to have the best saturday night line up. First Blackadder, then Fawlty Towers, then Red Green, then Chef, then Doctor Who,after that Blake's 7 followed by another episode of Red Green.  Then my local ABC station would be playing DS9.  I used to use up a whole six hour tape just recording everything, good times!

The Red Green show has stood the test of time and is one of my top ten shows of all time, there just isn't another show like it.

Immigrating to Canada is a really annoying process. Gotta get medical checks, police checks, drop a ton of money on all three of these things and maybe get denied in the end. And I have to do this all before my work visa expires and I have to leave the country and my girlfriend.

But at least I'm not immigrating to the US.

Welcome to the Great White North. Pull up a seat and have some Canadian bacon with maple syrup, eh.

Hey thanks. Not sure what to do aboot this moose that's loose in my hoose, though...

You use the handy man's secret weapon, duck tape!

Do you know which version you watched?  The original only had stereo sound but he did an updated version with 5.1.  I saw the stereo one and have had the 5.1 version on my HDD waiting for a watch for a while now.

It was the updated release with the 5.1 audio.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

Now that was definitely more like it! A quantum leap above the dreck that was RotF. Michael Bay actually delivered a great movie about transforming robots. All of the idiocy from the previous entries was nowhere to be found. Optimus was still a little too edgy but overall it was a breath of fresh air compared to the others. I'm actually really looking forward to the sequel.

Does it still have the borderline racist characters and sexual and drug based humor that feels out of place in a movie based on a cartoon about giant robots?  Also can you tell what is going on in the action scenes?  Because those were my problems with the last three movies.

The Mummy 1999

Now normally I hate remakes that are dumber then the film they are a remake of. Also I am huge ancient history buff so there are a huge number of things in this movie that should bug me to death, but you know what? They don't.

This movie is big, loud, and goofy but it knows that and it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not or try to have any deep moments.  When people talk about movies as theme park rides this is the type of film they are talking about. It's there to get a few scares and laughs and then it goes away.  The cast is all in on it and Jerry Goldsmith's score is a lot of fun to just sit back and listen to and it captures the spirit of high camp adventure perfectly. The CGI is done on a pretty impressive scale for the time and the whole film just feels epic and fun.

Is this movie perfect? No,but you know what when I am in the right mood this movie hits the spot.

7.5/10.

Totally agree. I love this movie. All the problems with it that would bother me in another film just melt away and I can just enjoy myself with a decent popcorn flick.

I even enjoyed the Mummy 2 for the same reasons (though less so).

I think one of the reasons these movies work is that they have a quick pace and a real flow and Brendon Faser comes off as some sort of lost action hero from the 30s and 40s.  I can't put my finger on it but he just fits right in and has a real likability that just fits right in and the cast does have chemistry and that helps a lot.  The movie is just a lot of fun to watch.

I think that's a good summary. I feel like they could have really easily gone into Indiana-Jones-Rip-Off territory, but they took the high road and managed to set the films apart from Indy, without compromising the enjoyability.

Yeah the fact that I never think of them as rip offs says a lot I think.  They are fun movies with their own rules and tone that are fun to watch for their own reasons.

Why would we want to make it easier for people to come into this country?  We don't have enough jobs to go around as it is. Shouldn't we be trying to stop people from coming into the country and stop people from having kids so the population will go down and there will be enough jobs for everyone?

The number of jobs is going to continue to decrease as more and more jobs move off shore so allowing the population to increase is just asking for trouble. Most of the people born today or who enter the country are going to spend their whole lives on welfare so it makes no sense to encourage an increase in population.

The Mummy Returns

This is another movie I should hate but I don't.  It has a few problems that don't make it as good as the first. For one thing it feels a little slow paced and the few horror elements that were in the first film are gone,in this one it is all out silly action. Also while the first one was set in a cartoon version of the 1920s this one is set in it's own silly universe that has things like flying ships in it.  Still if you are willing to go along with the silly bits there is a lot of fun to be had in this movie.

This movie does pull off some things that I didn't think it would be able to when I first saw it.  For instance I wanted to hate the kid and at first he is just getting in typical home alone style antics but as the film goes on the film makers seem to find the right balance between having him solve problems and having him in trouble. He never seems to go too far one way or the other and they don't make the adult characters useless or have the kid save the day as so often happens and having him in trouble is a good motivator for Rick and Evelyn to go on another adventure and makes this one far more personal then the last one. Also the kid while not a great actor is far better then the average child actor you see in a film like this so I didn't mind him.

This movie's plot does feel a little contrived and it is one of those sequels where it is basically the same story as the first movie only done much much bigger. Still again it seems to know this and Rick even makes a few jokes about it so you don't feel like you are being insulted and asked not to notice that it is the same thing happening again,so it's not as bad as some other sequels of it's type.

Still Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz do have good chemistry and that helps the movie flow along and makes the movie a lot of fun to watch.

The action scenes are exciting and very well paced and better shot then a lot of scenes in more recent films in that there is never a moment where I am having trouble figuring out what is going on,I can see everything and they don't go on so long that they overstay their welcome.

All in all it isn't as good as the first film but any movie that has armies of dog people,a fight on double decker bus,and someone defeating a mummy with a three stooges eye poke is above average in my book.

If you are in the right mood and willing to go along with the movie this is an enjoyable thrill ride.

No I didn't.  Just the base unite and about ten games with the overlays and they were awesome.  it was my mom's call and she was always afraid that if I had too many toys I would turn into a spoiled brat, she also got rid of my NES on that same day but that didn't make me as sad since you can find them everywhere. her heart was in the right place but it still makes me sad since I have never seen another Vectrex in person in my life.  i really wish I still had that machine.

The Sega and Vectrex games are totally different beasts. I had it for Vectrex and a home version of Sega for the Atari computer. Both were very challenging games. The Sega home version lacked the voices of the Enterprise crew though.

The Vectrex and the game actually appeared in a low budget SF movie called Android.

Nice to know there are still old arcade games to be found in Vegas. I was totally ruling Atari Star Wars one night in the mid 80's at Caesar's Palace, but they had a crappy policy of shutting the power to the games down around 11 at night to make the kiddies leave. :/

Okay thanks for the info.  Vectrex seems to have latter rereleased the game with out the Star Trek name so i have never talked to anyone else who played it.  It was one of my favorite games as a kid but I was never able to find out anything about it beyond the fact that it existed,so thanks for the info.

It was a really fun game and the day my mom throw out my Vectrex while I was at a friend's house because I had just gotten a Playstation and I "Didn't need two video game machines." was one of the saddest of my live because I couldn't play it any more.  Thanks for the info.

Yeah Chloe was a character I couldn't stand in season three, but now she is my favorite so good for the writers for being able to make that switch.

I love that kill, and I didn't see it coming since I figured she would still be around to be up to something in the next three episodes.

Here is one thing,Chloe didn't get a pardon so that means the moment she went back to the CIA they would just take her back down to that room and continue with the torture. Did Jack really think she would go back to that?  i don't know what he was thinking asking her in the first place. It sure makes it seem like he doesn't care what happens to her now that he doesn't need her any more.  I hope he steps up the next three episodes and opens his eyes and sees just how much Chloe has lost helping him and stops treating her like a tool.

On thing is for sure the next three episodes are going to be interesting.

To anyone complaining about Chloe hanging up on Jack and getting into the car please try to remember a few things and see events from her point of view to understand her actions. She has just been tortured for days and lost her family. Plus she just thinks her boyfriend is a peaceful freedom fighter and he did help her take down the drones. He hasn't talked about his real plans in front of her so she doesn't know what he is up to and she has been through a lot. She is lonely and in pain. She lost her whole family to a plot by the government. She was then tortured by the government and she has two men in her life. One only broke her out because he needed her and wants her to work for the same government who killed her family and tortured her and the other is giving her a chance to fight back against that government,is it any wonder she choose the other guy? Let's face it to Jack Chloe is just a tool to be used and then he leaves her to face the music while he runs. this other guy may be a scumbag but from Chloe's point of view he seems to care about her a lot more and he has been there for her while she was in pain. Jack needs to start treating Chloe like a friend and be there for her if he wants her to be loyal to him,he needs to show her some loyalty in return. So far he has not done that since she lost her family because she helped him. Is it any wonder she is hurt and confused?

I don't see how anyone can say Prometheus is the worst film in the franchise when AR is out there.  At least Prometheus returned the franchise to body horror and was the first film since Alien to really scare me.  AR didn't make sense and there wasn't a single moment that scared me.  Once you have them cloning Ripley what is there to be worried about?  I mean even if she dies they can just bring her back in the next movie so why get invested. Oh and what was up with them trying to make us feel sorry for the alien that wanted to eat everyone, that was just insane.  This film is proof that Joss Wheadon is not perfect and needs someone looking over his scripts to keep them from going off into complete unfocused insanity.

Sigourney wants to make another movie. I wonder if they would pretend Alien 3 and Resurrection never happened?

She's been saying that for years. I don't think it will happen. is there anywhere left for the story to go at this point?

How about a musical? That hasn't been done yet. Think about it; Alien 5: I've Grown Accustomed to Your Facehugger.

Now that would be the first movie in years I would pay the $15 to see the 3D version of in theaters!
