I'm sure you've gotten offended over a word before, and others didn't think it was such a big deal. I remember recently Gatos used the term "no homo" and you were so offended you edited his post.

Damn right, and I'd do it again.

So when you say something that offends someone that person needs to just suck it up, respect your right to free speech, and stop judging you.

When someone says something that offends you that makes that person evil, their speech needs to be censored, and they should be put up against a wall and shot.  All because you are the ultimate perfect judge of right and wrong and you have never done anything wrong in your life so you have the right to stand in judgment of every single person who has or ever will live and anyone who disagrees with you on any point is pure evil and should be burned alive for their sins because you are the one and only perfect god who created the universe.

Glad we cleared up.  The one true faith that can rule on the absolute right and wrong of any issue is The Church of the Holy Frink.

ALL BEND THE NEW IN WORSHIP OF THE ONE AND ONLY GOD, TV'S FRINK!

Without going too far off topic (whatever, this is in Off Topic anyways....)

Sometimes people just get offended by words because of all the bullshit baggage for them that comes with those words. A couple examples. A few years ago I made a random Facebook status, "Sometimes I wish I were a Jew." I thought it was funny and often I wonder what my life would have been like had my parents been Jewish, as opposed to Scientologists. One of my FB friends, who was Jewish, got offended mainly just for using "Jew" like I did. There was nothing I could do to explain myself, she was pissed I said Jew.

The next one's pretty bad. I was talking with my buddy and her girlfriend, she's half-black-half-Jewish. She swears like a sailor and we always make jokes about everything. Anyway one time she was talking about slavery and how the Jewish people were slaves long before Africans. I said, "So I guess you could say, the Jews were the original n**gers." I don't know why I said it, it just popped out. I didn't even mean it as a joke, it was a comparison, but I used the shock word. Boy, she was not happy with that. I apologized like a madman and ruminated on it, and I realized there's thresholds you just can't cross.

Of course, you're usage was far far far far far less than what I said, but shit, people get offended sometimes for what one may perceive as a small thing.

TL;DR - White people are racist.

 Wow.

My dad worked for a nice Jewish couple for about twenty years and I had no idea there was a way to use the Jew that would cause Jewish people to be offended any more then I don't see a way to use the word Irish in a way that will offend me.

I guess you learn something new every day.

Six Hasidic Jews out of eight.

So...was anyone offended by this?  I posted the exact same review elsewhere and a couple of people got completely bent out of shape.  I'm genuinely baffled as to why.

I presumed it related to the plot of the film in some way.

Past experience has taught me you can do something in complete respect and innocence and somebody will still have a cow over it. In college, I once dedicated a video project to Jim Henson. (Not long after his passing.) There was puppet content in the video, and Jim was one of my personal heroes and inspirations.

After the video ran for the first time, I got a totally out of the blue ten minute harangue from a classmate that I was a racist for not including a dedication to Sammy Davis Jr. (Who died the same day as Henson.) Seriously, what the heck? And this was coming from someone who wasn't even black.

 Good night!

That reminds me of the time I was once called racist for not celebrating Qanza(I have no I idea how that is spelled.)I am a Christian so yeah I Celebrate Christmas. Oddly enough the same person didn't have a problem with Jews celebrating Hanika because they are another minority so they are allowed to celebrate their faith.  So religious freedom only applies to racial minorities?

I think I will go have a good cry now.  The last unruined thing from my childhood has just been ruined.  Oh and I checked a live action Padington Bear movie is coming out so everything I loved has a kid has been wrecked in some way.

It took the foul taste of the 98 Godzilla out of my mouth.  It captured the feel of the very early film very well in that it treated the monsters as a force of nature and it was more about how they effected people then seeing them fight. I can see why other people may not like it but unlike the 98 film Godzilla was in character and it felt like a Godzilla film so I loved it.

It seems Toho has released the right to some of the other classic monsters to Warner Brothers for the sequel so that should have more action in it.  I can't wait:)

Amazing such a cock up could slip by.

Yeah but sadly it seems to be becoming more and more common.  I am guess with sales slipping on disc based media that the studios are not doing the type of quality control they used to because this isn't the first release I have seen with lip sync problems or say a menu that doesn't work or the disc playing the wrong audio track by default. It seems disc based releases are getting worse and worse and as someone who can't download this does not sit well with me.

This is why whenever I can I stick to recording stuff off of Tv and making my own discs, because a lot of the time my home made discs are of a higher quality then the professional releases.  That is pretty sad if you ask me.

It may not be the biggest issue in the world but I have been looking forward to the first Emma Peel season of the Avengers being released on Bluray all year but now I read the reviews for the it and they all say the picture is good and well restored but for some stupid reason they used the PAL audio with the NTSC video so the audio is pitched too high and out of sync with the picture.  this is a real kick in the teeth for me.

Are you sure it's the original version? The differences can be subtle if you haven't seen both cuts.

Yeah it was.  Scenes were missing, different takes were used, and it had a completely different score.

Now granted I got it more then two years ago so maybe it is not up there any more but it was on iTunes.

It's possible In The Beginning was made as a sort of cliff's notes on the show for the benefit of new viewers once the show moved to TNT?

It's a darn shame the original broadcast version of the pilot hasn't been released on DVD. I think there was talk of preserving the Japanese LD of it that didn't go anywhere.

You can get it on iTunes, that is how I saw it at a friend's house.  I have to say while I would love to have the original version on DvD the one that we have is a better episode over all.

What are you reading?

Right now I have finished the audio book of World War Z  I am listening to the audio book despite the fact that I am completely sick of zombies and I have some problems with the story. I could go on and on about how stupid the idea that shuffling zombies who have to bite you to be effective could ever defeat armed troops in body armor is but the rest of the book is pretty well done. It's more about a complete breakdown of civilization then it is about zombies, you could replace them with just about any threat and it would be the same basic story. So over all I would say I enjoy it. Oh but the audio book with it's all star cast is the way to go. Martin Scorsese completely steals the show as the greedy asshole who made a fortune off of a drug that didn't work. Even if you only listen one part of the book make it that section because it is a laugh riot. Well that and Simon Pegg's attempt to sound like he is from Texas:)

Still there are logic problems that bug me that help me understand why some people can't stand this book if those sort of things bug you.  For instance I have to ask, what sense does mothballing the whole airforce make? I mean I can understand that bombs didn't work but if there is one thing Zombies can't attack in any way it's a helicopter with a giant machine gun. I mean ground troops can get swarmed and yes I know the helicopters would not take out the brains on their first try but it seems to me once you don't have to worry about friendly fire all you would have to do is have a few helicopters hovering over any location and shooting zombies and those forces would be in zero danger. Sure as I said they may not hit the brains but at some point the zombies will be so full of wholes that they can't move and would no longer be a threat and you wouldn't lose a single person or gun doing this. It seems like Max Brooks has an in built bias in favor of the third world and just wrote this book to put down the united states militarty and it's people and try to bring some dream world of his to life where both are completely useless. The trouble is he nocks apart the logic of his own world to get there. For instance he doesn't want the zombie to run, okay but then how did they knock out two thirds of the military? We only hear about one battle lost, that battle could not have involved the inter military, why didn't they regroup and just switch the ammo and tactics? Also at no point is it even brought up that the zombies could be supernatural, it's a plauge in this story and that means they should obey the laws of physics. So then why doesn't freezing burst their cells? Why doesn't salt water corrode them? I corrodes battleships, shouldn't it corrode exposed flesh and organs? If the heat of the third world kills zombies why does the cold of the first world? How can they stand up to the intense pressure at the bottom of the ocean? Why doesn't that crush them? if they eat everything in sight and they are not smart enough to climb over walls then once all other food is gone why don't they attack other zombies? There is no indication that they have a hive mind or anything like that. We are told at one point the zombies don't freeze because they have no water in their bodies. Okay I can go with that but then how do they move and come to think of it how do they see? Eyes must be kept moist in order to function, that is why we blink, shouldn't all the zombies be blind? It seems to me the biggest problem with this book is a problem of in universe logic, the world is set up with a certain logic that works and draws you into it and makes you think about it in a logical way but then when it gets in the way of the story the logic is thrown out the window. The trouble is that by that point the reader has been trained to think about things logical so it really stands out when things stop making sense.

One other problem is one of basic style.  These are supposed to be interviews and why some of the dialog is very good the descriptions are bit too poetic and detailed for me to believe it is a real person talking and not something written by a writer and that takes me out of the moment.  For instance every person gives a very detailed description of what a zombie looks like.  The trouble is this is supposed to take place in a world where everyone has seen a zombie so why would they do that.  For instance if I am describing say an Asian person to someone in real life I don't describe in detail ever line on their face or look for a creative way to bring the person to life, I will just say something like "He's the tall Asian guy who works at Wal Mart." because the person I am talking to doesn't need it explained to them what an Asian looks like.  the same goes for describing the action. People will get a little too detailed about sights and sounds and describe them in a way and use the type of phasing a writer does when trying to bring a scene to life for the readers.  Now don't get me wrong these things do make for an intense read that draws you in at some moments but more often then not I found myself being draw out of the moments by the fact that it didn't feel like real people talking it felt like a writer writing.

Still it did sell it's self as a history book that felt like it was documenting real events and it does a good job drawing you into certain scene so it is as close as I have come to liking anything zombie related in a long time so that is something.  As it stands I would say this is a decent book that has a good first two acts of set up but then falls apart in the middle. 5./10.

I'm glad you're non-dominational--it makes for a more peaceful world--but I believe your intended spelling was "non-denominational."

Thanks.  Every time I tried to spell that it came out wrong and I couldn't find it in the Webster's.  Thanks.

I am still Christian I just believe in what Paul wrote when he complained about Christians dividing themselves into groups and saying they were or Peter or Paul or what not that is all.

I didn't know you were a Methodist.  My Grandfather was a Methodist minister for over forty years so while I am nondominational(spelling?)now I grew up in Methodist churches.

Okay that story is not as interesting as I thought it would be when I typed it but what do you expect?  I am the most boring person on the planet.

Doh! I should have scrolled up. Thanks.

I can maybe see why the Grandpa scene might not get included, as it could possibly contradict what Gunn is planning for the second film in some way and the Nebula shot sounds like it was just a single shot. Also the Grandpa thing might have just been one shot, they sounded like unused parts of the end montage. The extended montage would have been nice though. You never get all the unused footage on any DVD package but if it's got the major deleted stuff I'm happy. I could have gone for a 3-hour making-of documentary ;-)

I hope those mentioned scenes don't become Disney streaming exclusives like with the Thor2 Blu-Ray because that really p*ssed me off.

Yeah paying full price for a Bluray and then having half the extras online makes me mad, that is the reason I have not bought Thor 2 on Bluray yet.  For $25 they can put the extras on the disc so people like me who lack highspeed can watch them.

The Ewok Adventure and Howard The Duck got more advance publicity than this though. And the Ewok movie was successful enough to get a sequel.

Will be interesting to see how wide a release this actually gets.

So in other words they are more ashamed of this movie then they were of those two.  That is a scary thought right there.
