um . . . the people that found some of the sh** Bingo said to be annoying?

I really dislike it when people say "who cares".  I could say that in reply to almost any complain or argument.  What sene does saying something like that make?

Do you really, honestly care, though? Does it really matter that he posted some things that you found annoying?

There are some posters here who post shit that everyone finds annoying (I won't name names, but if you're sane enough to realize the possibility that something you post might be annoying, it's not you).

well, since I realize the possiblity I might post something that might annoy someone(and perhaps have already do so),  I guess I am not one of the persons in question.

You are correct.

There are some members here who could do with less time spent in this sub forum too.

perhaps this is meant at me, but who cares?

For you and the others who took offense to this, I do not mean that I think that there are some posters that I would prefer didn't post in off-topic, I just think there are some posters who often get a bit too worked up when they spend too much time here.

So people found some of the shit Bingo said to be annoying. Who cares. I don't think I ever found anything he said to be annoying, and I know others agree. There are some posters here who post shit that everyone finds annoying (I won't name names, but if you're sane enough to realize the possibility that something you post might be annoying, it's not you).

Anyway, Bingo, I enjoy your posts. Leaving off topic seems a little petty, but if it was really working you up, I understand. There are some members here who could do with less time spent in this sub forum too. But you don't have to leave forever. We want you back!

I only have a problem with some of your views, thank you very much!

You have to acknowledge the historical significance, is what I was saying. You can't leave it out of your argument (the first post I responded to) and pretend like it's not a factor so you can more easily get across your point. I'm glad you have rectified that with your most recent post.

Listen, I understand your argument and I've heard it many times. It makes sense. The problem is racism still exists. The mentalities that gave the n-word its horrible connotation can still be found in all too many people. Perhaps in a hundred years we can live in a world where that connotation no longer exists, but not now. We don't get to choose what does and doesn't offend cultures that have a history of oppression. So we need to understand that, for many people, the n-word is an unfathomable insult. I cannot completely understand it, as I am white. I don't need to worry about oppression, about police brutality, about being stereotyped, about not getting a job because of the color of my skin, about any of the number of things African American people have to fear on a daily basis. I don't have to worry about that because it doesn't affect me. The n-word doesn't affect me. But what it does do, to the people who are being put down, who have to constantly face bigotry, even if it's subconscious, is to further the culture of discrimination that has mistreated them for far too long.

I have never said anything about thinking little of you. I can disagree with you without questioning the content of your character.

Sometimes (as the man Nute Gunray says) I "assume too much." I had no idea any of you were autistic. I feel like I learn something new about autism everyday, which I think is indicative of the larger problem: there are so many people without any knowledge of it.

If I ever insulted any of you in some way that hit a sensitive area, I sincerely apologize.

Is there, perhaps, a need for an autism thread?

If you're not going to acknowledge the historical significance of the word I'm not going to respond.

And I don't have a problem with people using the word in literature and film (or even how Possessed used it with quotes), but I do have a problem with people who are quicker to attack political correctness than defend the victims of political incorrectness.

I don't know how else I can say this, so I'll just leave this link here. Please, go read it. But try not to gloat too much when you do. That's not very nice, after all.

And for those of you who don't like clicking links, I'll just ask you this:

Didn't you ever wonder where the name "Michael Kaminski" (webmaster of SaveStarWars.com) comes from?

It's a pseudonym.

Janusz Kaminski is a favorite cinematographer of Steven Spielberg.

And The Order of Saint Michael and Saint George is a British order of knighthood.

What are you implying? I hope you are aware that he used to be a fairly active poster here.

Thank you for the kind words - sharing the work is my dream; restoring it is the mission.

There actually is a documentary about the project in the works, being shot by an insanely talented up-and-coming cinematographer named Laura Beth Love, with interviews with all the people who've helped, breakdowns of the process, clips, etc.  If everything goes according to Murphy's Law, the final scene should be Disney announcing a pristine 4K release of the original, just as I'm finishing up, for your sort-of Scorcese ending.  :)

Wow, that sounds great.

I have to say I can't believe the number of snobby people I know who hated Man of Steel for it's product placement who praise The Lego Movies as brilliant and proof that more toys should be turned into movies.

If you like the Lego movie that is fine, but you lose the right to ever complain about product placement in a movie or say that makes it a bad movie because the Lego movie is Product Placement Giant Toy Ad:The Movie.

The whole movie is an ad, even the name is an ad.  If there were not toys to sell it would not exist.  It's only purpose is to sell toys, not tell a story.

I really hope this trend dies soon and we can start seeing some films about real people living in the real world start to get made once again.

Are you an idiot? Or did you just not see The Lego Movie?

Random Thoughts
Time

Just banged out a really wordy 8 page essay in the last few hours and am now feeling inclined towards a really effusive writing style. Don't know why I felt compelled to post that here, but I suppose that is the purpose of the "Random Thoughts" thread. Anyway, I'll leave you all to your businesses and be gone now, as it is well past 4 AM where I am and I have not had any shut eye for sometime. So, goodnight all. I'll be sleeping now.

Not completely sure if I posted in this thread yet, but I've been following it for awhile.

I'd just like to say that you're pretty cool and talented Mike. We share the same favorite movie. I only wish I had the same resources as you so I could give it the same treatment, but I'm glad someone out there will be able to see the film as it was originally intended, and certainly that someone deserves to be you after all the work you've put in to it. I can only hope that someday the powers that be allow the rest of the world to finally see this brilliant (and immensely important) film as it should be.

Anyway, I just had a thought, it might be interesting, when all is said and done, for you to piece these videos together with new ones to create a sort of documentary on the making of this project. I'm sure there'd be a lot of great insight into this film we all think we know, as your videos have proven. It'd be cool to have all your work and knowledge in one package.

Last movie seen
Time

The Babadook (2014) - Thrillingly original and smart independent horror film. If only more films in the genre were like this. Well worth seeing. A-

Man on Wire (2008) - Wondrous documentary. The spirit of it all really soars. A-

Citizenfour (2014) - Frightening and exciting documentary political thriller. I sort of wish they went a little further into Snowden's motives, but perhaps they wanted to, you know, give him some privacy. A must see. A-

Femme Douce (1969) - Weird, weird, weird movie. It's an interesting and well made character study, but I can't help Bresson was a little bit up his own ass with this one. B

Chappie (2015) - What went wrong here? Blomkamp, you're better than this. The story and structure is almost as muddied as the characters. Die Arntwoord is so fucking annoying (but they do grow on you as the film goes on). This movie doesn't really know how funny it wants to be. And where's the social/political commentary that Blomkamp's known for? This could have been a great dark satire, but instead all the interesting ideas are barely touched upon. Thank god if you put the disappointments behind you the movie's a real fun ride. Action's great and Shallot Copley's titular robot is amazing and the best the film has to offer. A waste of potential, but enjoyable nonetheless. C

Citizen Kane (1941) - First time watching it with the Roger Ebert commentary and I must say viewing it this way is absolutely essential. Really makes me appreciate the genius of Welles (and Ebert) even more. A+

The Leopard (1963) - Very well made, influential epic drama. Maybe a little too slow for its own good? Frustrating that Lancaster is dubbed in the Italian cut. Kind of ruins the performance of the one character we're really invested in. Still, exceptionally crafted film. A-
