<strong>The Cowclops Transfers (a.k.a. the PCM audio DVD's, Row47 set) Info and Feedback Thread</strong> (Released)
Time
I just ran back through and saw the Leia shot. I even commented on it back then and I forgot already.
Is that what the finish dvd will look like?

Ok, not to be an ass because I appreciate all that you guys have done (which is frankly some amazing work)...

<ass>
My biggest problems with the original TR47 set was overdriven audio, too much contrast with too little brightness (dark areas have little detail with grey-er whites), and the pure red artifacting from the DV capture.

Compared to the new screenshot looks, the new ones look, well, dirty. Even though the blacks have more detail, the whites are even duller. I'm comparing to Project Zion's capture (which should be the more accurate) as well as the 'official' smurf wars. I also see as a result that her face is fairly red.
For brightness/contrast I still lean towards the Farsight set (which could have used a slightly higher color level).

Just my $.02, but a little boost in the gamma would probably have fixed all of what I just mentioned. </ass>

Of course my monitor and tv could be way off, am I alone on this?

Info: A new edit <em>(The Lost Cut - it was a prank; but some good info in here)</em>
Time
Davis: Since you seem to be as much a geek as the rest of us, if you haven't checked out Deleted Magic you should. It's probably more satisfying as a viewing experience than the Lost Cut could ever be.

Regarding the Dune film discovery: There are some important points to ponder when considering if dylanfree saw the Smithee version versus some long lost Lynch cut. First and foremost is that the Smithee version was intended for network broadcast as a TV miniseries. It might not have ever been edited together as film to only be transfered to tape for broadcast. It wouldn't be unreasonable to suspect that it was edited in some other format.

And more importantly there has never been (to my knowledge) a theatrical aspect ratio of the Smithee, it was strictly pan and scan. This is why all video/DVD releases and broadcasts of it have ALWAY been pan and scan. If dylanfree saw Smithee in widescreen, that would have been a major find as well.

There's been more cuts of the Bladerunner than I care to think about, but I'm suspecting the whisking away of that Dune film is a sad loss...

My gut says his boss didn't turn it in to anyone. It's either in his private collection or being readied for eBay.

No V4 all the way.

I recall someone going to do a 'professional' cover. Wonder what happened to that.

Btw, take a look at Reubin Ortiz's cover (posted earlier). 3 things I like about his back cover is the bullet points and paragraph breaks make it easier to scan with your eyes. I also like his credits at the bottom.

Maybe I'll cut and paste all the covers out there to make my own uber cover. Or Deleted Magic Cover: Classic Edition

Star Wars: Classic Edition by Ocpmovie (Released)

Yes, because I didn't use the 2004 mix at all. Only the 1993 stereo and 1977 mono mixes are used.

Cool, 2004 video with older (non-sucky) audio. I'm loving that.

I asked TR47 for Cowclops 2.0, but he's not sending it out yet. I decided that considering what I'm doing, it wouldn't make all that much difference really! The laserdisc shots tend to pass quickly.

Those bloody bastards <g> Actually though, I am pretty surprised that they wouldn't let you have a menu-less raw version just for your project, it's not like you'd be releasing theirs before it was done.

Nope! Do I still rock?

I'm thinking about it.
Ok yeah, you still rock.
But I'd like to see eps 5 & 6 if you get ambitious.
