It looks like Revolutions says "Have you already watched the infamous Matrix Reloaded Hacked By Doctor M"
and Reloaded "Watch out for Matrix Revolutions Hacked Edition... the true ending to the Matrix Trilogy".

Hmm. Infamous?

How about "The first part of the Matrix Hacked Edition -- Doctor M's Reinterpretation of the final Matrix Films"
And "Part two of the Matrix Hacked Edition -- Doctor M's Reinterpretation of the final Matrix Films"

DVD Rebuilder does require DVD encoding software. CCE is of course great but it does work with QuEnc and HC Encoder which are free and available on DVD Rebuilder's site.

From Doom9.org:
Recently, compressed domain transcoders have reached quite some popularity. These transcoders are based on algorithms designed to recompress an MPEG-2 stream in real-time for TV broadcast. These programs can transcode an entire DVD movie in only a few minutes, because they do not have to decode and re-encode the entire video stream, but only part of it. I will not go into a detailed explanation of the mechanisms used as they are quite involved but basically what you get is a size (and hence quality) reduction per time unit that cannot be rivaled by regular MPEG-2 encoders (though the latter category can yield better quality). DVD2One was the first program to be based on these principles, now DVD Shrink is the first free program to offer this functionality.

I'm throwing these open to discussion. Back cover DVD text--

RELOADED:

From a new beginning...
The Matrix Reloaded: Hacked Edition provides a different perspective to this Trilogy's second film.
Neo, the prophesized savior of mankind, is haunted by memories of his death at the hands of Agent Smith and is searching for his place in the impending war against the machines.
Agent Smith, similarly effected by his own death and rebirth is much more certain about what the future holds for himself, the Matrix and Neo.

Utilizing footage from all three Matrix films, Doctor M has returned the flavor of the original Matrix's experience, pace and characters. Neo's One-ness is restored, story holes are filed, and the nonsensical and unnecessary trimmed to provide a more self-contained and satisfying experience.

REVOLUTIONS:

To a new ending...
Returning to the real world following the events of Matrix Reloaded, Neo brings news of his failure to stop humanity's oppression and the impending destruction of both worlds. Having learned that the prophesy they all relied on was yet another construct of the machines, can Neo still save the world? And can they save him once he has?

In a more rough edit than Reloaded and using footage from all three Matrix films, Doctor M has returned the flavor of the original Matrix's experience, pace and characters to Matrix Revolutions. Neo no longer has magical powers in the real world and is more human and vulnerable. Similarly the programs are more machine and less emotional. The nonsensical, unnecessary and unsatisfying have been removed to give us a different series of events and a new ending to a Trilogy that showed more promise at in the beginning than the final films were able to deliver.

The difference between DVD-Shrink and DVD Rebuilder is the DVD-Shrink uses compression (increasing the existing mpeg compression) in order to make a disc fit, while DVD-Rb reencodes. Compression is more prone to artifacts than fully re-encoding and DVD-rb will always give better quality. Whether you see it or not is on you. I find DVD-Shrink acceptable up to about 80% after that the artifacts are just too obvious.
Btw, DVD-rebuilder does have a simple mode that can be turned on.

I don't want to bring down any hateful replies, but what would be awesome would be if people would get into the habit of torrenting Xvid versions of fanedits as well as the DVDs.

There are many interesting ones by ADM and the (CBB group) that I would love to graze through, but would hate to have to d/l full DVDs of sight unseen.

That said I'd request to see Pearl Harbor in that format (since the originally film really really blew).

ADM: I watched Mask of Zorro the other day and realized if the cheesiness were taken out (a lot of stuff with his horse) (and the cliche's (although there are a lot)) and the original beginning and ending were restored (new soundtrack would be needed over it), the movie might suck much less.
Just a thought.

'13-30 Extraflirty' fan edit (Released)

It depends on the story they are trying to tell.
If they only plan on pulling out of IV the content that relates to Spock as a continuation of the previous 2 movies (leaving out all the Whales and the back in time stuff), it's actually an interesting plan.

I like the originals just fine (even III which I just rewatched recently wasn't as bad as I remembered), but as a concept, I'm fascinated.

'So Fine' - Preservation Project (Released)
Time
I'll have to sleep on it. I really wasn't planning a general release of this.
If there was real demand by fans of the film I would have done a PiF system, but...
Again, I'll have to think on it.

Next up?
Who knows, maybe I'll finally work on that L.A. Story extended cut I've talked about now that I've learned more on restoration.
My dad request I add back a particularly funny scene deleted from Keeping the Faith (Edward Norton, Jenna Elfman & Ben Stiller movie).
Of course a GitS2 NTSC conversion taunts me. The U.K.'s english dubbed audio was recorded at PAL speeds (since there was no NTSC release planned with english). A slow down to 24 fps requires a pitch shift, or the video would have to be resized to NTSC with a 25 to 30 pulldown. None of which makes me happy (it seems unnecessary since there's a perfectly nice NTSC video on the U.S. DVD). I want to find a way to use the U.S. video but speed it up to 25 fps and add a 30 frame pulldown without re-encoding. I've not figured a way to do that yet (or if it's even possible).
Other options? I'd love a completely extended and uncut version of Eurotrip (another guilty pleasure film).
And of course there's VR5...

Maybe nothing and I'll be able to sleep at night without editing in my head and have space on my hard drives again.
