Info: Hold onto your old Little Mermaid discs!
Time
Well I don't know anyone that has the limited-er release with DTS & 2.0. I'm not ready to shell out $10 on Ebay for it.
If I knew I could edit the DTS I'd consider a version 2 with DTS & DD 2.0 but every Google I've done tells me it's impossible without decoding editing and re-encoding.

To be fair, if someone provided me with the 2.0 audio I would consider adding it in since I still have all the parts.

Edit: Actually in all fairness, it is theoretically possible to do this project. I'd have to edit the VIDEO by adding and removing frames to sync it with the DD2.0 track and once it is it could be muxed with the DTS 5.1 track.
That being said, I really am not in love with the idea of doing that. It means I'm intentionally adding and subtracting frames which might be noticeable. Also it means cell times would have to be manually shifted and the DVD re-reconstructed to match the new celltimes.
BUT, it would be a disc with the DD2.0 original audio, and the DTS and DD 5.1 audio mixes from '97. It should all fit on a SL disc.

Didn't notice this before:

A 2-disc Platinum Edition was released on DVD in October 2006. There are a handful of changes, as well as some things that only appear to be changed.

* The most noteworthy change is that the infamous priest's knee has been smoothed out the first time it is seen. (For those who prefer accuracy, poke around disc 2 a little bit and see if you find some consolation.)
* When the credits start crawling, they are sped up a little bit to accommodate several restoration credits near the end. The total credits time is unchanged.
* The original Dolby Stereo logo has been replaced (as in the 1997-8 re-release) with newer sound specifications (SDDS, Dolby Digital, DTS) in the credits.
* At the end of the credits, "cassette and compact disc from" no longer follows "soundtrack available on"; as well, as with the re-release, a new Walt Disney Records logo is used. What has not changed:
* The original movie has some computer-generated elements (such as the ship and a staircase Ariel runs down); these are not new, and have been in the movie from its first release.
* While the re-release used a shorter version of "Under the Sea" in the credits, followed by Ariel singing "Part of Your World," the original version (and the 2006 DVD) feature a slightly longer "Under the Sea" and a wordless choral arrangement of "Part of Your World," so the audio for the credits is faithful to the original.

I've also been made aware of a more limited release that contains a DTS mix. Though not only do I not know where to get a copy, I'm not aware of any editing software that works in DTS. Maybe a v2.0 down the road(?)

ALSO Can anyone confirm for me that the 1997 re-release audio mixes were derived from a 2 channel source? I had read before that that was the case, but IMDB shows an original release 70mm 6-track mix. That would suggest there was already a pre-Dolby Digital more-than-2-channel-mix they could have sourced.

Oh ok, DeZionized combines 2 and 3 into one movie and removes Zion. That's the bulk of it. There are other changes, and in version 2 action scenes were trimmed to keep them from getting out of hand. The story on the whole remains intact, you just never see Zion. Further details here:
http://www.faneditforum.com/true_fanedits/cbb3dezionized.html

This edit (as outlined in the long drawn out first post) trims Zion but leaves a good deal of it. I removed anything that I found truly annoying or hurt what we know/loved about the first Matrix film. The Reloaded is trimmed mostly for ideas (there were no One's before Neo, he doesn't have powers in the Real World, etc.) and a few scenes of annoyance (the rave). It's still much shorter and ends at a different point so as to be more satisfying on its on (rather than such a silly cliffhanger (that feels contrived).)
Revolutions has been hacked up drastically (and as I've said many times is more a rough cut of what the movie could have been). I re-ordered events, changed the ending completely. (My father describes movies like the original version as "everyone ends up dead or miserable.") I wanted a more Matrix 1 like movie with an upbeat ending. I also explain the Oracle's change of appearance (using movie footage not the video game explanation).
If you want more details you can read the first post, but you should have the idea.

Dezionized put me on the path to this edit. It made me realize all was not lost and that it could be fixed.

Btw, it is available PiF and I am aware of a RapidShare release.

So you're asking how the Matrix Reloaded Hacked and Matrix Revolutions Hacked differs from the Matrix Reloaded Hacked and Matrix Revolutions Hacked?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say there's not a whole lot of difference. ;-)

I'm assuming you had the opportunity to see them somewhere.
If it was the Pirate Bay/Demonoid Xvid torrents I will say there are some serious differences in Revolutions since that was v1 and I think I was strung out on crack when I proofed it. Reloaded only had minor technical fixes between v1 and 2.

If you've seen the DVD release than that's the final version and I'm sticking with it.

If it didn't suit your taste there are other fine Matrix edits out there too including the first to the party 'DeZionized' (now on to version 2) and Spence's 'Matrix Squared'.

L. A. Story - The Extended Zell Edition (Released)

Built the DVD... aye yay yay did I bite off a big chunk.
I've never done anything like that before with the Play movie and Play with Intro, etc.
About a half dozen SETS of command sequences were necessary to have that work... and I've never actually USED command sequences before.
And it worked the first time, I don't believe it. Bet it would have been easier if I read a manual or something.

Anyway, compression to a single layer DVD took 70% of the original size. A bit more than I'd like.

Sat through the test disc and here were my impressions:
Wooo. It's sort of work printy but everything I added fits nicely and matches the mood and style of the film. The "Walk in L.A." is still a bit dodgy but I don't want to cut it (see the posted clip earlier in the thread).
The John Lithgow clips needed to be recoded without the edge enhancement. All that did was bloat the file size and add sparkley artifacts.
I've gone back and made some other minor fixes, technical mostly, and even added ONE more line from the alternate ending that I love and could not do without.
I also thought long and hard and decided to cut the easter egg extras too. They were only 100mb but they really don't seem to be necessary (my apologies to Victoria Tennant who loses the most.)

Hopefully I'll have a final disc in my hands, um, tomorrow?

Next up... some holiday prep and then:
Little Mermaid The Restored Theatrical Edition (audio and preacher fixes)
Other possible on tap projects:
Eurotrip Extended (contains just what it says on the tin)
The Appointments of Dennis Jennings Preservation (mind you I can't stand this short anymore)
Star Trek The Motion Picture: Phase Two (drastically cut until not boring. I'm shooting for 1:30+ (The size of a double length TV episode.))
I swore there was more that I've promised but for now that's more than enough.

Extras created. The Showtime John Lithgow clips are soft because of their source (and my filtering) but they are much cleaner (audioly (?) and visually) now.
The menus have been designed... but the DVD is not yet authored.

I'm on the fence about keeping the Easter Egg interviews from the first DVD release.
Half of them appear as part of the new DVD documentary. Mostly the Mick Jackson, some of the Steve Martin and none of the Victoria Tennant clips.

It seems partially redundant to add them and I'm trying to save a bit of space since the DVD currently is a bit over 5.3gb.

Tough call.

So I took a day away from this to think about things...
I went back and cut the commercials and Zell rocketing in.
Anything I disliked did not make the cut (the first post has been updated).

For the scene that wouldn't sync I just cut the audio up and did several crossfades to sync regions. It works well. I even added some ambient effects and wind (there's a cut of wind blowing through foliage and it doesn't make noise. Pretty jarring, fixed it.)

Well the initial edit is done. I still need to export, build a DVD, preview, make any changes and produce all the extras.
I think the worst is over... mostly.

So for whatever reason, I've run into a few deleted scenes that don't sync with their audio (all the way through).
From a technical standpoint I'm stumped. Maybe they had a variable frame rate that Womble's repair tool stripped, I don't know.
I've also run into a few scenes that from a plot perspective should probably be added, but I'm not fond of.

The commercials at first seem like Steve Martin being wacky Steve Martin; something I'm not a fan of.
The thing is, if he has super-agent Harry Zell, how do you explain him not working or getting any jobs before the end of the film when he returns to KYOY?
...So the commercials SHOULD stay. I hope you all like them more than I do.

Same goes for the rocketing in scene: For him to suddenly be talking about being back as a serious weatherman, it's reasonable that Harry Zell would rocket in and tell him. Of course I have no audio (of value) and the scene seems a bit off pace compared to what's around it.
I can have rocket noise over the nonsense that John Lithgow spews, and you can assume that Zell is giving him the good news. I really think some hard subs would work better... but what?
Yikes the early cuts were much easier to deal with.
I cannot believe how difficult this project has been. And all I really wanted to do was cut in the Harry Zell lunch meeting.

Next project... cutting in a fixed subtitle for the title card of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. (No not really, but I need SOMETHING easy or I might never edit again).

It should be fairly simple to mux the audio and video, either finding the delay or just resyncing and reauthoring.
I'm hoping to also restore the Preacher's knees... now THAT bugs me.

Anybody know of any other changes? (That is besides ham fisted digital clean up and color changes.)
I will also be looking for a scan of the original movie poster that got banned. I think it'd be perfect cover art for the project.
And no this won't be called the Freud Edition (but it should be).

Besides saying 2:59 pm it now also types onto the screen instead of appearing all at once.

Tell me the similarity is not incredible. (Name that movie quote )
The only flaw is that they have a white border around the bold white text. I cannot reproduce it (the border and shadow have to be the same color in SSA format) so my lettering seems a bit thinner. Besides that...
