Tarkin in the clone wars.
Time

It shows lack of imagination because it's been done before. It's understandable that some things will appear continously in the SW universe (the blasters you mention), but it would be cool if some things don't happen repeatedly, and for example, the only person we ever see getting frozen is Han Solo, it makes it special.

But now someone being frozen is not special is a common occurence, as is the Sith using lighting, or using a flying remote for lightsaber training, etc. It would be better if some things remained unique.

I'm not really criticizing the stories from the show. The Darth Maul arc was ok, I don't think it was that great really.

The point I was making is just the lack of imagination in creating new compelling characters. As I said, Tarkin does make more sense, but with Sy Snootles and Greedo it seems like they have a big dart board with every minor OT character and they just throw a dart and whatever character it hits gets an episode.

Next week it'll be the Cantina bartender having an adventure with Mace Windu, they'll fight Battle droids, and it will explain why he "doesn't serve their kind".

If one were to watch the thing in order, by the time you get to ROTJ, you've seen Jabba, Bib Fortuna, Sy Snootles, a lot of the alen races in Jabba's Palace, the speeder bikes, the Emperor, the Emperor's bolt lightining, etc.

So far in this season we've had Greedo, Tarkin and Sy Snootles from the OT, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul from the PT, have they run out of ideas??

I fail to see how does one thing leads to the other...

You don't think that bringing back two characters that were dead, a bounty hunter from the (completely unrelated to the CW) cantina scene and the singer from ROTJ means they're out of ideas?

I'm sure they'll eventually make a CW episode with Ewoks, why not?

Other than Tarkin, which makes more sense, there's no reason to keep putting "10 second cameo" characters from the movies in the CW, and there's no reason to bring back the dead. It just shows a lack of fresh ideas.

Even in the case of Tarkin, while it might make sense, why not leave it alone, so that SW has some fresh characters in each episode. They way the prequels and the CW were made, by the time you get to ROTJ you've seen everything.

Was there ever a treatment or outline for the prequels ?
Time

At the end of the Making of Star Wars book there are some notes written by Lucas in 1977 speaking as C-3PO and Leia and he mentions, for example 3PO being reassembled by a young boy working for a junk dealer. He also mentions Trade and Commerce unions buying Senators to support Chancellor Palpatine.

There's also mention of the midi-chlorians.

Need help with a video_ts folder
Time

So, I downloaded a torrent that has a video_ts folder. I'm on a mac and I've always used a program called DVD Imager to make a Disk Image from the video_ts folder, it has always worked like a charm, except with this folder I downloaded.

Any idea what could be wrong? Does anyone know of other methods to convert the video_ts folder on a mac? Also on the torrent are two files one is a md5 and the other is a sfv. Could that be the problem? Do I have to do anything with those?

Thanks!

Interesting Tidbit from lucas before episode 1 started filming that gave a hint that the pt films were not given the care needed to be great
Time

It's not new, Lucas has always been concerned about cost, this is from 78-79:

GL: ... In movies give somebody $150 million and fifty years to make a film, and the odds are good that they'll make a professional movie. The real challenge is to do it for a minimum amount of money in a reasonable amount of time. When I look at films I can tell one that cost $30 million, but if you can make a film that looks as good but only cost $15 million, then you've accomplished something.

Here's an interesting little gem... Lucas' End-of-the-world Theory
Time

Well, that explains why he changed from "The SE are my true vision and the originals are incomplete films" to the "we're focusing on the SE now before we do the classic versions" we got recently. Motherf*cker knows we won't be here anymore.

Seriously though I think Lucas is now the target for a lot of bullshit. Sure the prequels are awful and what he's done to the OT is shameful, but lately it seems everyone comes up with a crazy story about him.

Harmy's STAR WARS TRILOGY "Partly Despecialized Edition" HD. !!! These version are now obsolete - Look for Despecialized Editions instead!!!
Time

Thanks a lot for the PM. I just checked Jedi, which I had never seen in HD. Wonderful job, the sabers look a lot better, the classic shot where the sabers are crossed in front of the Emperor's face looks great. It's one the things that has bother me the most ever since the DVD came out.

The only thing that's a bit jarring is the cut from the Bantha herd to the Sail Barge, but I'm guessing there was no one around that and it's a very small thing.

Thanks a lot.
