You're spot-on. The free floating symbiote was held prisoner by the Fantatic Four for awhile but escaped and stalked Spidey. For a few months afterward he did have a cloth black costume. When the symbiote found Brock and became Venom Spidey went back to his original threads (thanks to fan outcry at the time actually).

it's been a few years since i read the comics..hell it's been more than a few years since they even came out, so correct me if i'm wrong, but i remember a short time where Venom was 'brand new' and Spidey was still in the (cloth) black suit, and Venom started out doing petty crime type stuff to turn public opinion against Spidey. I also remember Venom kidnapping Mary Jane. From a story-line standpoint, that was the reason Spiderman went back to the old Red & Blue suit

Are the firefly DVDs missing something?
Time
Well, Joss specifically designed it so that humans were the only ones who inhabited the universe 500 years from now. Those are beliefs, that we humans are all there will ever be in the universe.

Which is why, in a way, i'm glad the series ended early...

you know by season 3 or 4 as story ideas begin to run out, the 'verse would eventually be invaded by hostile aliens, who would declare war on all of mankind, which would force all of humanity to unite against this common foe, thus ending the struggle between the browncoats & the government, and would ultimately prove to be the jump the shark moment of Firefly

...and i challenge SciFi to renew/revive Firefly for a few more seasons just to prove me wrong!!!!

i dunno about that...remember Blues Brothers 2000?

i'm a huge fan of the original, and as much as i would love to see a well done sequel, and agree that a properly done sequel would be awesome beyond awesome...i would hate for a poorly done sequel to tarnish the original

Jokes thread : Reloaded
Time
Little Nancy was in the garden filling in a hole when her neighbor peered over the fence.

Interested in what the cheeky-faced youngster was up to,

he politely asked, "What are you doing there, Nancy?"

"My goldfish died," replied Nancy tearfully without looking up, "and I've just buried him."

The neighbor was very concerned.

"That's an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn't it?"

Nancy patted down the last heap of dirt then replied,

"That's because he's inside your fucking cat."

i'm a huge fan of the first one, and watched it immediately before going to see the sequel.

I think having the original so fresh in my mind really helped me enjoy the sequel more than i would have if i had not seen the first one in awhile.

I think the story works much better as a whole, rather than as two seperate movies...think i'll run the two together into a single movie once Evolution hits DVD.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld

Sam Raimi is supposed to be directing a big-screen adaptation of The Wee Free Men after he finishes up with Spiderman 3...Aside from Terry Giliam, Sam raimi is about the only director i would trust with a Pratchett adaptation...i can't wait to see this

Wyrd Sisters & Soul Music were both animated features which were aired originally on (i think) BBC, and are currently available on DVD...they were good... but the books were infinately better.

Every few years net-rumors will pop-up about a Good Omens movie, but i don't believe anything's ever come of it

Pratchett's writing doesn't lend itself to film very well, because much of the wit is in his narrative style, and is subsequently lost when translated to a visual medium

...much like H2G2, when done right (original radio drama & BBC series) it is exquisitely hilarious, but when rushed (last summer's H2G2 movie) you can feel that there's a lot missing

aside from the aforementioned Good Omens, i've just finished book one of the Johnny Maxwell trilogy: Only You Can Save Mankind.

it was pretty good. even though it wasn't related to my beloved Discworld, it was still Terry Pratchett, and his writing style, and narrative voice are still the same regardless of the subject matter
