With the number of stars and the fact that they all have higher salary demands each time they return, it would be cost-prohibitive to make an X-4. They are currently toying with spin-off ideas.
Hugh Jackman has already mentioned that a Wolverine movie is in the works, and he is interested in reprising the role.
Ian McKellan has expressed extreme interest in doing a Magneto backstory movie
Another idea that has been rumored is doing a New Mutants type spin-off featuring some of the younger (ie background) mutants from the X-Men movies.
