Interstellar (2014)
This movie had no business being almost three hours long. Did the editor take a long nap and the movie was released without his or her knowledge? Beyond that, it reminded me a little of Sunshine in that both were very interesting movies that utterly failed in the last act. There was some really good stuff in it, which only made it all the more disappointing.
7/10
Interesting review. I was alright with the ending because of its ambition and the fact that it presented the idea of time not being an arrow but being just all at once. Neil De’Grasse Tyson has some cool points about the science of the ending. So after all that, I feel I can appreciate it a bit more.
I thought the score was beatiful, the acting terrific and the chemistry very strong between Murph and her father. The scene of Brand wanting to go to a planet because of love did not work for me. But visually, Interstellar is a masterpiece.
IMHO Interstellar works on enough levels that it’s immense ambition can be felt viscerally and despite a few problems I feel perfectly fine giving it a strong 9/10.
ITS OBJECTIVELY A PERFECT MOVIE AND ALSO OBAMA WASNT BORN IN THE US
Just when I thought you might be mature and actually discuss the damn movie. Way to take the high road Frink.
INTERNET DISCUSSIONS ABOUT MOVIES ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS!!!
No. I actually just wanted to have a casual discussion about a movie.
YEAH BUT YOU’RE WRONG ABOUT THAT
SMH
I GIVE YOUR COMEBACK A 3/10
I don’t really give a shit. You obviously will never realize some pretty basic facts.
THE ONLY FACT I’M INTERESTED IN IS THAT ROTS IS OBJECTIVELY A BAD MOVIE!!!

What did you think of the film when you first saw it?
I was disappointed in the movie but nevertheless tried to convince myself it was still a good, solid film.
In some ways, I miss having that kind of naivete.
My eldest brother had similar thoughts when he saw ROTS in theaters, only he was more confused.
He was a huge SW geek who proudly proclaimed the genius of George Lucas, and was about 16-ish years-old (just saying this for context). After he saw the film, he tried to retain his loyalty to SW, but he felt like something was missing. He returned to see the film a total of six times. Each time he continually felt like it wasn’t all there, and he didn’t know what was wrong. I believe this was just before the time he realized how terrible the PT is.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN OBJECTIVELY BAD FILM
Just the same as:
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN OBJECTIVELY BAD ICE CREAM FLAVOR
Flavor would be in comparison to a genre or style. I think an ice cream recipe would be a better comparison when speaking of a specific film.

Serenity (2005) – B
I watched through Firefly over the past several days and I just got to the movie. I liked it a lot.
One overpowering notion that I’ve had is that it felt like the plot was kind of rushed to squish it into a feature film (as there was no more series for them to finish the story). There wasn’t as much explanation for certain things that I was hoping for either.
Anyway, I enjoyed it, and I think it was an alright tie-up to the series.
I actually think Serenity was the best movie based on a TV show I’ve ever seen, and I’d easily give it an A.
Completely understand you. I just felt slightly disappointed in some aspects. I’m not sure I can properly describe what I’m referring to, so I’ll just leave it at that.

…If a few characters died at the end like it seemed like they were going to, I would have given it an A+. I understand they still had hope of continuing on with the show or another movie, but it would have been an amazing way to end if almost everyone died.

I’d say two deaths is enough. I loved those characters, and having already liked Ron Glass from an acting standpoint (Barney Miller), the loss of his character saddened me. I also thought Wash’s death seemed very odd. It just kind of happened (not that it’s a bad thing, necessarily). Anyway, I thought the mostly happy ending was a great way to end the story.

I disliked the prequels before I saw the reviews, but they articulated things that “my brain” had noticed but I hadn’t put into words before.
This is also me.
*clears throat*
*weeps tears of joy*
One of my only double posts. I’m finally getting the hang of it 😛.
^I guess I’ve never seen it show up here. It made me happy, so I LOL’d. 😄

And are you guys saying I should personally clean up a mess that I’m not responsible for just to clear my conscience? You should get used to it now if you plan on being a parent.
I’m sure I’ll adapt well 😉.

How could anyone sleep at night knowing there’s shit of any kind on the floor of any room in their house?
Or knowing they’re the only one in the known universe who didn’t like Toy Story 2 or 3.
Well, that’s not true.
And are you guys saying I should personally clean up a mess that I’m not responsible for just to clear my conscience?
What I’m getting at is don’t live your life with catshit on the floor. Have some pride.
I don’t live in the basement. I never even go in the basement with exceptions being few and far between. The cat poo on the basement floor isn’t my problem either. I live in a house of seven people, and only three of them are in any way responsible for the cat and his droppings. The poo isn’t having a great affect on me, so I really don’t care that much.
If Frink and Moviefreaked are the same person, he’s very convincing.
They are the same person.
Aren’t they both you?
Will an MKV of v1.5 (non-branching '77 crawl, of course) be in order, since the subtitle sync in the BD structure is the only issue with the release?
Making an MKV from the BD is straightforward. You can use mkvtoolnix-gui or makemkv beta. Both are “drag and drop” operations.
I have no doubt as to the simplicity of the operation. I was just curious if an official MKV was to be released, because I’m sure that many people alongside myself would end up putting it in an MKV anyway, for muxing different audio tracks, etc. I just thought I’d ask if it was in the plans. 😄

Toy Story 2 is better than a “kids film.”
Even further, Toy Story 3 is a damned emotional raping.
Honestly I’ve never sat down and watched 3 all the way through for some reason. My girls have watched it several times so I have seen parts here and there.
I really should take the time to watch it.
Just make sure that there isn’t any catshit in your house you’ve been too lazy to clean up, or you might end up just seeing it as a scrappy cash-in sequel.
Well, it is. And I don’t think any cat poo was on the floor of my basement the last time I watched either of those films. I’m sure there was some in my cat’s litter box, though.
