That’s weird. Anyway, can you see this?

Nope. Seems there’s some problem with image.ibb.co in my neck of the woods maybe,
can’t open in Firefox or Chrome. I can see other pics just fine.

Anyway, I like the direction this regrade is going!

I edited the post with imgur links, hopefully you can see it now. I’m getting tired of image hosts not working.

Info Wanted: Which preservations are the best of the original theatrical releases?

Thanks !

About the Grindhouse editions, I have read they not “GOUT compatible”. Does it mean that it can be hard to find subtitle tracks for instance ?

ESB Grindhouse is not “GOUT compatible” but Harmy’s ROTJ Grindhouse is.

And about the Despecialized editions : which ones are from the 35mm scans ? I have downloaded the v2.7/v2.0/v2.5 versions from the instructions on this forum : the READMEs do not mention 35mm films as sources. Are you speaking about more recent versions that have not been publicly released yet ?

SW 2.7 uses some shots from the 35mm SSE version (IIRC only shots that were completely GOUT upscales were replaced with SSE), ROTJ 2.5 was totally overhauled with a lot of 35mm footage, and ESB is still in a more SW 2.5 state (all gout upscale, no 35mm footage to my knowledge).

If you can find the links to the image comarisons Harmy made, they should say if 35mm footage was used in any given correction.

These balances look great DrDre!

While the discussion in kk’s thread was going down I had already started making an imperfect test correction of his version inspired by the 35mm colors just to see what I could do with it.

Thanks! For some reason I can’t see the image you posted, sadly.

Weird, it’s still showing up for me. This should work:

Ah, yes, thanks! Looks good, although I would reduce the green a bit.

still can’t see.

sorry for off topic…

BD

Regrade

I started again by matching to a 35mm frame first and adjusting from there. I think this looks like a pretty good attempt at matching the BD to the 35mm look. Thoughts?

(I’m a big fan of the 35mm look, if you can’t tell 😛)

EDIT: Sorry if I’m hijacking your thread, haha. Just want to pitch in a little, 'cause I always love a good Raiders discussion (one of my favorite films).

…di-…did you say Death Note is the best anime in existence?

I’m sorry but I guess I can’t say I agree. It’s kind of bad. It’s not interesting or anything. I don’t mean to say my opinion is right, but my opinion is totally right 😉.

On another note, I’ve been watching a Japanese cartoon series called Ranma 1/2. It’s really great (much better than Death Note 😉). I actually started watching it because this trailer for the first theatrical film in the series was at the end of all the 4Kids Pokemon VHS tapes, and recently I found the series and decided to check it out. (with the original audio, of course; that English voice is awful!)

What are you reading?
Time

Also the Bible conversation happened over fifteen days ago, which I’m pretty sure means ‘no longer relevant’.

Anyway, I read The Great Gatsby again, and I appreciated it more this time.

I also tried reading Jurassic park before that but didn’t make it past 75 pages before I simply lost interest. Michael Crichton wrote that book as an impossibly boring slog. When something is actually happening and meaningful it’s super interesting and well written, and I’m excited for what’s going to happen next, but then that’s all bogged down by three pages of unnecessary technical explanations for things I don’t care about. It’s like he can’t just get to the point. It took all the fun out of what was otherwise an exremely fun read. I might pick it up again sometime and try to finish it, but I can’t see myself spending any time on it soon.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

RicOlie_2 said:

I know I haven’t been here much lately, but I need whatever emotional support I can get right now. A close friend of mine passed away very suddenly yesterday afternoon. They suspect it was an aneurysm, or maybe even a heart attack of some sort. She was an amazing person with such a beautiful personality…I really connected with her, especially in the past few months. She was selfless, always putting others before herself, and nearly always cheerful and positive. Nobody ever saw this coming. She was too young to die–we were born on the same day.

This is the first time I’ve lost someone close to me. I’m not quite sure how to handle it emotionally. I’m just grateful that I was able to spend meaninful time with her the evening before I left to go on holidays.

I can’t even imagine. Thoughts and prayers to those who were close.
