I don't have the Omar DVD cover in hi res yet. I never did.

Omar plans to revise it further, and then he'll send it to me I'm sure .... via FTP.

He is?! Is he going to incorporate the full Once... logo instead of just the O?

That wouldn't look right because the rest of the paragraph text is in a different font.

MarioXB - The released versions bear absolutely no resemblance to the true version of the film, so comparing them on a really detailed level as if they are worth analyzing is pointless. No one has done it and no one should do it.

Sounds like a job for me then! I love doing pointless things that no one else cares about or wants to do. They never should have released the Richard Lester cut of Superman II, but they did. There are lots of comparisons of this with the soon-to-be-released Richard Donner version. It sounds like almost the exact same situation happened there as with this movie.

But you don't get it - read through the thread and you'll find that the released version(s) have extra characters and musical numbers that aren't in the Recobbled Cut. So unless you want to hear people singing that aren't on screen, I don't know why you'd do this.

I know it's not in the works - but I think we should keep track of what can be included on Mark III if it ever comes about -

Extras:
-New images in image gallery that have surfaced since Mark II (Cannes artwork, high-res logos, DougieKirk.com backgrounds, etc.)

Film:
-High-res logo before opening credits
-Incorporate pencil test (Princess looking out on balcony) if possible

Disc:
-Include newly surfaced pencil tests in the menus (Princess looking out on balcony, etc.)
-Reauthor disc so that after film is over, the screen goes back to the main menu
-Add closing credits

Anything else?

Hopefully the upcoming US release of the butchered cut has something that is usable.

Omar made some typos in his back cover description.

The second paragraph should read (in my opinion):

For the first time ever, enjoy the original version of this lost animated classic from Academy Award® winning animator/director Richard Williams (Who Framed Roger Rabbit). Nearly 30 years in the making, this film has been painstakingly restored to its original form by Garrett Gilchrist.

He also fails to mention the Allied Films trailer as an extra - does Omar have Mark II? Or maybe he just omitted it for cosmetic reasons.

I've been thinking - what if we record the dialogue from "The Majestic Fool" screenplay and then set that audio track against the artwork/cells that we have from the film?

We can of course insert the whole bread scene in its proper place.

I think that would make for another great supplemental DVD.

But who would do the voicework...

Hire someone? Do it ourselves?

Either way - just a thought.

Dougie Kirk had an extra image hidden in the root directory of his site -

http://img282.imageshack.us/img282/2480/massacrefieldlargesc8.jpg

I also stumbled across Raul Garcia's website and he has a small scan of an Art Babbitt drawing from the film -

I cleaned it up a bit so the lines are clearer:

If anyone can buy that for me and scan it, I can pay you back in a stack of DVDs, the complete collection or whatever.

I just went to the site to try that. I ended up in their eBay shop, and couldn't find the item. Perhaps that list was out of date

Edit: Just had another look. It's on CQout:

I'm pretty sure you can buy it at the set price by contacting the site owner via email:

flashbacks@tiscali.co.uk

And yeah, better ask about which of the two is in better condition.

Came across this post by Dean Roberts, who worked on "Thief and The Cobbler" -

http://theblogofkells.blogspot.com/2006/04/thief-that-never-gave-up.html

i animated the scene with zigzag holding the cobbler's hand . its nice to know the next gen of animators still rate dick williams and that film . it nearly killed me !!!!there never was a real finished DW version of the film - the last stage at which dick was involved was a two thirds animated film and full colour storyboards all drawn in marker pens by dick himself . i should know cos i was high for weeks !!!

So I'd guess that's the extent of what was completed under Williams' supervision - 2/3 of the film animated with the rest done in color storyboards by Williams.
