And if Go-Mer posts on this thread, just ignore him, and then we can celebrate when he gets banned.

No Cable, I believe Go-Mer does not agree with that. Why? This may seem odd, but I'll just have to quote myself.

He goes over to the family's house for dinner, and they are all cheery and laid back and no matter what anyone ever says to them, it bounces right off. They act all passive and happy to make people belive in mormonism (which is the stupidest religion on earth next to scientology.) At the end of the episode, Stan stops being friends with the mormon kid, and the kid tells Stan how great it is to be Mormon and that he has all he ever wants, but Stan can go suck his balls. The other kids think that the mormon kid is cool. So, basically the mormon family is getting South Park to convert to mormonism just by flaunting it all over the place, not telling people to be mormons or being mean to them because they are mormons.
Sound a bit like Go-Mer, doesn't it?
Go-Mer, you have not once told someone off for being an OOT fan, or not liking the prequels. But every time we express our views, you flaunt your love of all things Lucas in our face, just like the mormon family on south park. And then you try and say everyone should be able to have the best version of version of the film they prefer. But you don't really believe it. You're just trying to convert us by acting all calm and cool and trying to make us think being a "saga" fan will make us all happy and cool.

If you still don't get it, Go-Mer just pretends to care about the OOT preservation. He acts like he's on our side, while at the other time singing the praises of Lucas. These things totally contradict each other, and he tries to pass that off by saying he respects everyone's opinions. And he's never outright put down someone for liking the OOT, but that is his strategy. And with each and every last post he makes he is proving my point.

You have absoultely no right to say it after trolling these boards for the past month. Let me elaborate.

But we're not as stupid as the residents of South Park. We don't convert. So just go away.

You want people to take your feelings seriously, you have to be reasonable about it.

I knew you couldn't handle a metaphor.
What I want to know is why you feel the need to defend and praise Lucas in every post? Why? What do you get out of it? Does it make you feel big? Does it bring you great joy? What is it that makes you do it?
And you can bet your ass he'll answer none of those questions and just give a passive response that stops him from having to answer the question.

I guess that's part of the reason I respect Lucas for caring more than most directors would about making his movie as close to what he was trying to do as he can.

Why did I know this little troll was going to say that? How do I always know what he's going to say?
The point of the artist comparison was that it was a METAPHOR. A metaphor is when you liken something to something else, but not always making it so obvious. The comnig into the house part is that Lucas' changes were so intrusive, and his mantra of "this is how I wanted it" is like him walking into your house, changing the films, and screaming at you in the face. But since you always have to take things so literal Go mer, I guess you could never understand a metaphor.
You're like a broken record Go Mer. You may say different things in each post, but what you mean is the same in each and every one of them. George Lucas's dick is in my mouth and I will say whatever I can to make sure it stays there, even if it goes against all reason.

You are extremely ignorant on this topic. The DVD is the lead format right now and will be for the next ten years, at least. Why? Because DVD's are made to last. Most, if not all, anamorphic transfers are compatible with hi-def. Anamorphic means they are made for both kinds of TV, and usually work very well in hi-def. You need a DVD player that up converts them to look hi-def on your plasma screen, but that's not hard to come by, (I think the XBOX 360 does this) but hell, even without it DVD's will be fine on hi-def TV's. That's why new formats like HD-DVD and Blu-Ray won't become the next big home format, just a niche product. DVD's will last for a very, very long time, far into the hi-def age, and upgrading your movies to hi-def video formats is pointless unless you really want higher quality. So please, inform yourself before posting.

He crumples the canvas up and re-hangs it. As he leaves, he says to you 'That's how I wanted the painting to look originally'. You say 'But that's not the picture I bought and loved! Gosh, I've never seen a better explanation of why the special editions suck. You really nailed it man. Of course, Go Mer didn' care. Whatever way he can defend Lucas and his precious "saga" is good to him, even if it is ignoring what is right in front of you.
And about the "changing films" aspect, I agree with Gaffer about the BTTF trilogy. The filmmakers really kept the integrity by talknig about things they disliked and then didn't fix it. That's really cool I think.
Someone said something about the extended cuts of LOTR being for book fans. That might be true, but that's not why I think they're better than the theatrical cuts. The extended cuts not only add more from the book, but overall make the film flow better Sticking to the book really works with that trilogy because the books really "breathed" well and when you add more from the books, they do too. The films just feel more natural in thier extended form, and when watching the theatrical cuts after the extended, it feels like a botched edit job on the theatrical version. Of course, last time I saw the theatrical versions of the films was in catching them on TV. I have long since rid myself of the thetrical disc one. (Disc two has too many cool features to throw away.)
And that "car in the background" thing really dosn't bother me. I don't know if I ever noticed it in the first place. I think changes like that, that you can't define as intrusive, are fine by me. Like the little changes on the Raiders of the Lost Ark DVD. They just don't bother me because they don't improve upon or decrease the quality of the film.
Once more on the subject of BTTF: (little off topic) If anyone lives in Denver, the first film is playing on the giant screen at the UA Continental theater tonight at nine. It's part of a series of old movies they're doing. I've also seen the entire Indiana Jones trilogy, Spaceballs, the Goonies, and Grease in the last few weeks, and it's a lot of fun.

Personally...I'd like to see a Rancor consume Gomer with extra cheese. I'd pay for a special edition of that on DVD....
Here here Cable!
What cheese factor is there in the emporer? He is one of the greatest villains ever to grace the silver screen. Just looking at him you feel his menace. He never ever even has to move to be menacing and evil, and that is a rarity in villains.
Go-Mer probably thinks Yoda fighting Dooku has less cheese in it than the emporer. I pity him. His mom must have dropped him on the head lots of times as a baby.

And I can quote word for word what Go-Mer's response to this post will be.
Lucas changes whole scenes, and is very instrusive, and overall makes his movies worse. Jackson just erased a car in the background, that you have to be watching carefully for to begin with, and it is an improvment.
Lucas changes weren't intrusive at all, and just helped clean up the films. How can you say erasing a car is less intrusive than addding CGI dancers into Jabba's palace and replacing the whole scene? It all helps the films flow better. I love Lucas. I love Jar Jar. I think Anakin is the coolest chracter ever.
Etc, etc...
