They are coloured in such a way that it looks bad anyway :P

Well, they still don't look like they're green screen, and if it did, it would have been blue screen :-)

And really, they were at the mercy of the elements seeing as it was all location shooting for the Sarlacc scene except for the interior shots of the sail barge.

That  sliding shot from left to right, ending on a perfectly framed image of Luke hanging upside down, is absolutely my favourite shot of the entire six movies. It's photographically perfect.

You couldn't be more wrong. Boba Fett was regarded in the same way the instant Empire was released. His "cool" isn't something that built up over the years, his mystique and fascination with him were instantaneous.

Really? That's cool. I love Brighton, I was only joking that the only holiday I've got time or money for this year is a weekend in Brighton because it's so close it's not really a holiday for me. Great place, although last time I was there I got stuck by a fucking needle some c**t had left on the beach. Please pardon my French, everyone, but you can imagine my horror.

Still Brighton is a great place, I just need to go somewhere else for a looong break. My pic is making me pine for the Lake District...

Well it can't be all bad. Tell us some good things about Tennessee.

Here goes. Bingo, I thickened up the trees for you :-)  It did look a bit too pretty, like a park. While I don't think all planets should look the same all over, I don't want to vary it too much. So, slightly more foresty. I also tried making the planet bigger but it didn't look right.

So before I repost without messing up anyone's forum, can someone (Bingo!) quickly tell me what I'm doing wrong when I post? Cheers.

I would definitely try that, if I can get high enough res grabs of that shot from the movie. I don't want to add the dish, as it just over-condensed the geography. There's a lot of terrain and I prefer to see the shuttle flying over it before finding it's landing spot.

Thanks, Darth Chronus. I don't think the planet should have much contrast, as it should have more hazing over it than anything else in the image. And it's a gas giant, so it wouldn't be that contrast-y to look at. I'm still working on it and I've already made the planet slightly more gaseous.

Here's a try at expanding McQuarrie's unused matte of Endor into something useable. Not finished yet, but you get the idea. I'll be replacing the mountains with something more realistic and maybe the trees, but the design is pretty fixed. This is scaled down to about 20% of the actual image resolution and, for some reason, greens always scale down into oversaturated lime!

I don't think the Emperor's shuttle is hard too change. If anything, I would alter the fin and wings, to something more regal, both in design and even with colouring. That way I wouldn't need to touch the underside :-) which, as you say, would be difficult.

As for the other uses of it, I think it might just be too much work to do convincingly.

Oh I'm all for varying the shuttles, I just don't agree with the reasoning necessarily. I think it's pretty clear that Piett does know something once Vader has joined him, you can see it in the look he gives.

Anyway, I was also swayed by the fact that it will be a hell of a lot easier to alter the Emperor's shuttle than Vader's or the Rebels.

As for why the Rebels do have the same design, well I prefer non-universe explanations for things like that; those being that the movie was made on a reasonably tight budget and it was easier to do that with the time and money they had.

but you're forgetting, the fact that Han says they are conveying parts and supplies is the reason Piett and Vader know they are lying, so the shuttle should stay as it is.

If we want/need to vary the overused shuttle design, it's far simpler to alter the Emperor's shuttle as it's only seen as a matte painting and then a couple of shots of the terrible studio mock-up. That can be replaced far more easily.

The mix in the Rancor scene is muddy, but it's not irreplaceable. We have the source music, we can recreate or redesign the Rancor's noises from those that can be isolated and others, and the rest of the audio elements are pretty simple to replace.

There's nothing lazy about Boussh's dialogue. I would say it's actually had more thought put into it that the others. It would have been easy to put together some foreign sounding dialect (using some unusual-sounding real Earth language like with the Ewoks) but they decided to have a complex dialect where context and stress is everything.

I think the way Boussh speaks is a very strong creative choice.
