MGM's DVD Class Action Settlement
Time
Ric, i think you misunderstood.

You would exchange your dvd (i guess send it back to MGM) and they would give you either $7.10 per dvd (probably half of what you paid on average, closer to a third if you paid full retail) or you can 'swap' it with a dvd from 'a list of 325 titles'. though it doesnt say that these titles are corrected versions of the movies you are swapping (and are most likely not).

so basically, providing this is true (i have a few dvds on the list and plan to check this out when i get home from work) and they are just cropping the top and bottom of the movies to make them 'widescreen' and the settlement passes, MGM will still be screwing the customers by paying them far less than the dvd is worth (and you no longer have the dvd) or giving them a totally different movie from their 'list of 325 titles'

honestly, unless i can get a fixed version of the movies i have, i plan on opting out of the settlement and/or objecting to the settlement (i want to see the list of 325 titles first)

hmm, sean, you seem to have posted two challenges

however Chaplin was done on the first page

Charlie Chaplin (A King in New York) Rober Arden I (Little Shope of Horrors) Rick Moranis (Brewsters Millions) Richard Prior (Superman III) Christorpher Reeves (Superman II) Taurence Stamp (Episode I as Chancelor Valorum)

and im not sure if Victor Fleming falls in the rules

Victor Fleming (When the Clouds Roll by) Babe London (Sex Kittens Go to College) Vampira aka Maila Nurmi
Vampira (I Woke Up Early the Day I Died ) Christina Ricci (Sleepy Hollow) Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) Keira Knightley - Sabe, Queen's Decoy

would work, but Fleming is credited as himself (not sure if that counts as an actor, and its his only non producing, writing, directing credit) and i am unsure if that was a theatrically released movie (its a silent movie from 1919)

Bossk, can we get a (official) ruling on that?

Suprised you didnt just go Lucas to Harrison Ford using Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

which incidently also works for

Steven Spielberg (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - uncredited) Harrison Ford
but actually i think its nice to avoid roles listed as uncredited in imdb if possible, so...

Steven Spielberg (Blues Brothers) Carrie Fisher

since we're doing directors

according to imdb he was an uncredited cowboy
and if thats false info you can always go Tom Cruise (The Firm) Gene Hackman (Superman II) Terence Stamp - i just like to see how few steps i can get them in

also we already did George Burns and it was you who answered

XP tends to be finicky out of the box for allowing incoming network shares especially with 98. Also if you have service pack 2 on win xp it turns on the firewall by default so this may be blocking the appropriate ports. i have also found some stupid problems relating to the use of 'Simple File Sharing'.

if your interested send me a PM and ill give you a few things i do that usually gets my network sharing all working properly

Threepio or Artoo, which droid would YOU rather have?

but that screen displays in binary...the only reason for it is because sound doesnt travel in space so luke cant hear him...

but seriously, even in all the scenes that you dont get translation for artoo's beeps you can pretty much tell basically what he's saying (as can the characters)

*edit, besides him not talking is a good thing. At least he wont get annoying like threepio

if i post the code for that program would that be a solution?

sure thats what he tells you...but we all know the truth now, what truth you ask? the one about his first job not really being to program binary load lifters (very similar to your moisture vaporators in most repects).

but you have to admit, apparently he is good at convincing people that he's the droid they're looking for

Empire of Dreams - what was your imagined Star Wars story...
Time
well, based on what was said of the map, i would take it that while yes, naboo is close to tatooine they are not 'right next to each other'. Hmmm, this is another reason naboo should be destroyed at the end of episode III. that way, with the current prequel story line, there would be no need to explain their closeness in proximity.

because as was discussed, i think most of our ideal prequel stories would not contain the planet naboo so it becomes a non issue.

buddy-x-wing, i have not seen the clone war cartoons either so this is entirely possible that he achieved the rank of general during this time period. and i guess he did/would have served bail organa under the light that he served the true republic as did the rest of the jedi and some of the senate members who would later have become leaders of the rebellion.

Rebel11_38, as far as the rise of the empire, this is the part of the prequel story that i really like...basically palpatine just slowly gains control over the senate. causes a fake war, where he is pulling the strings on both sides, so when you think about it no matter what side wins Palpatine is in control. also, based on the comment in episode IV about disbanding the senate and the last of the old republic is gone, the idea of the Republic 'winning' against the seperatists really being Palpatine's growth in power over the senate and the republic army. hopefully that makes sense...im kinda tired so it may not be totally clear.

I think part of the problem with a discussion such as this, is that it is very hard to remove ideas that have been introduced by the current prequals from our current thoughts and perceptions. had we done this back in 1998 or earlier the whole of the creative influence would be from us and not influenced by Lucas' stories.

can i use stunt men? if so i have it

wont post it until stunt men are confirmed though

got it without stuntmen

Mika Mifune (Konkuriito) Toshiya Nagasawa (Carnival of Wolves) Dennis Keiffer (Batman & Robin) Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction) Samuel L. Jackson

stunt man branch would be from Dennis Keiffer who did stunts in a lot of movies with actors we've already linked. actually it would allow you to get it in 3

pretty sure we didnt use this next one

yeah, but you have to listen to C-3PO talk, and he complains about everything. and im sure Artoo would do as he's told...he did what luke wanted him to in ROTJ (aid in the escape, launch the saber). He just doesnt listen to threepio (i guess occasionally he doesnt listen to humans, AOTC he did this, but that was cause it was for the best, so he can help/rescue them)

Think of all that Artoo can do. He has some accessory/gadget for just about any situation, can pilot an X-Wing, always willing to go on an adventure (actually he seems to enjoy them and seek them out), and he's got a good sense of humor, and im sure there are countless other pluses ive not mentioned.

what more could you want in a droid
