Apology accepted Mojo_LA,

There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the site stating that this site is not affiliated with lucasfilm, nor is the site in any way commercial. I only heard stories of Lucasfilm going after people who are making money off of his property.
About the url: if lucas wants it that bad, he can buy it

However, I don't think it will be a problem. There is also a non-commercial site that is called starwarsarchive.com and they've been arround since 1997.

Just one note: I did write earlier that images would be made available through the forum in higher resolution. I would be nice to make sure you've read everything before making assumptions.

Info, & Help: looking for... 'Dressing a Galaxy' DVD...
Time

Hi Guyz,

I don’t know if this belongs here, but I’ve searched and searched the internet to find out more about this DVD to no avail.

I know of the special edition for Dressing a Galaxy but always found it to steep for my taste, but I have since wondered what is presented on the DVD as a whole.

Is there some special program/documentary on it? Are there more docs (looks like it on the menu) on the DVD or images and is there any rare foortage to be found. If anyone has this and could get me some more insight into the DVD itself that would be great. I’m gratefull for any info at all

But it's a museum... we can't save the images, the clips are not available for download... it's designed to only be viewed if we look at it on your site.

Hi Mojo_LA,

sorry, but again you're not looking to closely. Look a bit further and you might find things out for yourself.
Almost every image that is in there can be saved by just clicking on the images. Only a few images are restricted in this way at the request of the owner and I respect that. At least I get to show them on the archives for you guyz.
Again this is only for a few galleries at the owners request. There are hundreds and hundreds of images (there and yet to come) that can be downloaded by left clicking on the image. That's what the hand icon/cursor is for

As far as Jambe is concerned: he is one of the people who previewed the site and commented and shared his thoughts on it before it got released. And about Building Empire 2.0: I've talked with him about that and he's not going to do that project for some time as his main goal right now is the "A new hope" project.

And as far as the video's are concerned: I've shared a couple of them here on this forum. The selected clips from the doc, will be offered here for download shortly and like I said earlier: when the forum opens I will present selected images from the site in higher resolutions to start the sharing/trading. As far as the low-res presentation: I'm limited by the size of the account and want to get as much stuff on there as possible. But then again: they're bigger than the ones on starwars.com

That's how it is.

I am all for sharing and I don't like people saying I'm not when I have just made a huge effort to get this thing going and SHARE it with you guyz.

I'm doing the best I can even in these difficult times for me.

I guess you just can't satisfy everyone

So let me get this straight... you've got a website (is there a link yet?) dedicated to showing off that you have this rare ESB documentary, but you have no intention of sharing it with the SW community?

You should at least give a copy to Jambe so he can do a V2.0 of Building Empire and use clips from it and sound for an updated commentary.

I've read this whole thread and I have to agree, if the thing was broadcast even ONCE on TV, it's fair game to set free and no one - the makers of it or otherwise - should expect it to stay locked away. Who's to say that someone won't find an old VHS they recorded of it next week and upload it?

If it was broadcast, it could happen.

And it SHOULD.

Please, be a hero and set it free.

Looks like you didn't read this thread to carefully....

I'm not too interested in explaining my reasons again. And I do not show off that I have this. I'm all for sharing (just look at the website and the upcoming forum).

Hi Marvolo,

I was mistaken on the TPM 60 minutes program. I do have it, just not on DVD or VHS (I thought I did).
I could only find a very low-res quicktime (in 5 parts 56KB modem anyone?), that I downloaded back in 1998.

It's not the best but I've uploaded it just the same. Hope someone will come forward with a better version of it.

Cheers,

Darth Neo

The Star Wars Archives, a different kind of preservation
Time
Hi Guyz,

At the request of someone I uploaded controls for the video's on the site (loading, seek, play, pauze, mute). They appear at mouse-over.

Marvolo: I don't know if there was a 60 min for AOTC. At least I don't have it (I'll upload the TMP one tonight).

What did you guyz think of some of the content in the galleries (Gary Kurtz photography)?
If anyone has better resolution versions of any of the photo's on the site, please contact me so I can update the site.

I will be releasing the forum in a few days. I will start a few threads with some selected higher res versions from the images on the site to start the trading/sharing. Any requests? (the continuity polaroids are off limts though).

Greetings,

Darth Neo

Hi Guyz,

thanks for your kind words so far. More stuff is yet to come, already working on the updates and some of your suggestions.

Keep an eye on this thread.

And no Flash Sorry, that's what you need to view the site as stated in the splash screen. I will need all my time for the updates I'm preparing (already some new galleries within 1983). Suggestion: wait for the forum to open. I will present some selected images in there at higher resolutions for sharing/trading....

Hi Guyz,

I have finally uploaded some sort of finished website. A lot of content will still have to be added (with lots of contributions if that's possible), and only a few years can be viewed right now.

1977 - rare images (from the collection of Gary Kurtz), A interactive Read Along Book, more galleries (with the help of some friends), and rare behind the scenes footage with the permission of ROK.
1978 - Rare images from behind the scenes of The Holiday Special, and the oscars (could use more content there )
1980 - The lost Michel Parbot Documentary (8 new clips and a screenshot gallery), more rare images, Interactive Read Along Book, nostaligia galleries (have to add lotst more to these).
1983 - Rare images, dutch tv review of ROTJ from 1983, John Williams in concert (star Wars of course), Interactive Read Along Book.
1984 - The making of Caravan of Courage (from the collection of Eric Walker), rare images.
1987 - only the background sound added there
1994 - downloadable star wars screen entertainment
2001 - preview of my own "trip to tatooine"

Download links will be added tomorrow within the galleries.
I will also be adding lots and lots more content in the coming weeks and any contributions are welcome. You can exspect lots of vintage downloadable magazines. A forum will also be added within the next few days where rare and/or high res images can be traded or shared with the community.

I want to make some kind of community driven collection with all the best, rare and unseen images and video from the star wars universe we can put together.

I'm looking forward to your responses. Enjoy, it has been a lot of work: www.starwarsarchives.com

Hi guys,

I thank you for your patience. The site is coming along nicely. I know I should have released it earlier but I've had some difficult news to cope with. My uncle has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has only a few weeks to live (really strange how fast those things can go). So I have been preoccupied with this and I hope you guyz/girlz can understand.

I have been putting in a lot of hours to get this thing as good/great as it can be and I will continue when I'm feeling up to it. I have been receiving some great help and some wonderfull stuff that you will all get to see (exspect some really rare stuff). I have been showing a preview of the site to a select group of people like ROK, T-bone and Jambe Davdar and have been getting some great responses (and help for that matter).

I will keep you posted and sorry for the delay (I have been looking forward to your responses as well...)

i've just been checking through some unmarked disc and found an old TV special on the whole Star Tours ride. No idea where it came from, does anyone have any more info?

There was a tv special made for promotional purposes back then.
I tried to get this on ebay some time ago, but lost the auction:
STAR TOURS TV SPECIAL-The original ABC special promiting the opening of the Disneyland attraction featuring Gil Gerrard and appearances by C3-P0 and R2-D2.

Could you perhaps upload this to Rapidshare or something

And by the way stuff that gets uploaded by a premium user on rapidshare stays there as long as that user pays/extends his/her account.

Can someone please explain something? It seems like there is an overlap of a small amount of footage between the Michel Parbot documentary and the official documentary that we've all seen. How could this be?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. But if you mean an overlap between SPFX: making of Empire and The making of The Empire Strikes Back by Michel Parbot, that's because Michel Parbot was the cameraman on both documentaries.

p.s. The Website will be released on Tuesday night at the latest.....

whoa - what is that 5 sec clip at the very end of the parbot footage with hamill in costume? Do you have more of that??

That 5 second clips is also from Dutch Television from some program with hostess Mies Bouwman. I have never seen this and I'm also curious what program it's from. It looks like Mark Hamill made a whole promotion tour in those days (Blue Peter anyone)....

edit*** I used to work for Dutch Television and it is possible to request old shows from the archives from various networks (Got some great shows that I missed that way). I'll ask arround if any of this stuff is still available***edit

I'm not gone but just very busy. I have 4 days of now and am working hard to finish the site enough to release it. Exspect more info in the next few days.

About the other Michel Parbot footage from Dutch Television. I already stated that clips from this making of were certainly used in programs to promote The Empire Strikes Back. I remember seeing this on television.

p.s. ROK: great stuff there. Could you mail me at starwarsATliquidcourageDOTnl

I am watching closely who will come to the Celebration Europe, although I think that the more interesting guests will come to The Celebration in America.
I also suspect that the guests are a little less "accessible" than the conventions in the Netherlands.
The conventions in the Netherlands are much smaller and guests are mixing much more with the visitors. I even had coffee a few times with Jeremy Bulloch and dinner with David Prowse among others. At one point I even drank a lot of beer till 5 in the morning with the Matrix Twins and Lawrence Makoare (Lurtz in LOTR). I think those things aren't even remotely possible on conventions like Celebration.

We'll see.............

Hi Guyz,

I'm sorry to hear that your search had no results to date. It only strengthens my feelings that this is something extremely rare and that I should treat it with the utmost sincerity.
When I have a chance to meet with Gary Kurtz again (not in the foreseeable future however), I will definitely ask him permission to create a fan preservation DVD of the documentary.

The website is taking longer than anticipated because of a few extra commissions that I have to take care of for my business. I am working almost every spare moment I have on the website so I expect it to be launched soon. Understand that it is not solely about this documentary and that I plan to include rare and unseen images / video for a lot of years on the star wars timeline. I focus now on the years 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1987. When those are presentable I will launch the site. All of the other content will be added later and hopefully with your participation.
From the documentary I have created about 300 screenshots that will be included in a gallery as well as 8 video clips that will be included. For the text I can only use the spare bits of information that you guyz have provided me. Thank you for that.

I hope you can have a little more patience as I'm doing my best to have it presented to you as soon as possible.

Greetz,

Darth Neo
