I came across this intresting visual audiobook fanedit of Shadows of the Empire from Youtuber Kazuya Hartless and thought I’d share here, I think he intends to creat all Legends books this way if given enough interest.
Note: Narrators pitch is way up high but if you can look past that its a good watch.

I rather would wait for ANH and ROTJ in 720p and the artifacts free ESB and AI scale all three movies up to 1080p or even 4k.
I’d love to use Topaz Video Enhance AI on Adywans current releases but sadly my little HTPC’s CPU is not beefy enough to use the software

There was so much in this edit to comment on, and I know so many moments went by without mention. My thoughts weren’t always coherent and I didn’t have as much to say about the movie and story itself as with past installments.
Thank you all so much for coming out of nowhere to produce a jawdropping fan edit. This was the fan edit that almost wasn’t, making it all the more impressive to have done so much with it. It’s been a privilege to compile and execute. I wish I could gather us together with a rented theater and a round of PTO for everyone to spend nine days watching the whole saga.
You guys are incredible. Thank you for everything. It’s meant more to me than you might think.

Also reguarding sound volume I play the downloaded edit through my 5.1 surround system via kodi with no audio balancing issues, the Dolby AC3 track sounds fine on my end.
Here’s another pass at that scene. I just added some music from earlier in the scene, since sadly that sequence is not featured in the OST. It’s not a great fit, but hopefully this can smooth out the dropoff in music.
😁👌 Perfect sound through my surround system and as mentioned strenghen the tie fx during transition and its done, also agree Maple films done one Hobbit edit to rule them all so no need to go there at all.
It honestly makes me want to find some other fan edit project to work on now!

I’ve been avoiding watcing any other workprints of Ascendant since the initail one as I’d rather watch the finish product but as Hals stated that this current version 6.1 is pretty much the end result unless the crackling sabre footage and Lukes wig being worked on shows up, this is it. So after watching today I must say, it all just works flawlessly 😉👌.
I really can’t find fault or any major things worth changing at all, and I tried so hard to find things while watching but could only come up with a few small things so well done all involved…
Knights of Ren Voices
These additions were a billiant idea and add so much more charactor to the Knights of Ren, the only line which seems slightly off was when Rey teleports the sabre to Ben one knights says “what, how?” the what is perfect dropping the how would leave that slight audio pause while Ben shrugs which would work better.
Evil Palpatines End Monologue
Simply put he does waffle alot at the end would be nice to just see whats going on for a moment without him explaining what hes doing, specifictly after his lines…
“The life force of your bond, a diad in the force”
then cut the rest of his bad guy monologue and just show him restoring himself and cackling
Dirty Knights
This is more of a whats this scene about as I really never did get this can someone explain why Kylo and the knights are dropping all that dirt out of them 🤨.
Anyway quality edit and my go to for ROS, looking forward to Hals commenary track on final release.
Interesting that the concepts show Coruscant somewhat further away, in my head I had been picturing it in close orbit like this:

I think Brewzters concept of Coruscant should be copied as is into the film, although its LUT may be off 😉
Joking aside the nearer concept is a better option for Coruscant.
It’s always a little unsettling for someone to go missing. Hoping it’s just due to life rather than adversity. Time will have to tell us.

When the Emperor told Luke “Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete!” He wanted Luke to try and murder him. Of course even if Vader hadn’t blocked the strike, Palpatine ran zero risk of being injured. Luke was the equivalent of a pesky fly. A Jedi uses the force for defense only. Vader was protecting the Emperor, no need to retcon ROTJ with this spirit transfer mediocrity. For TROS there is no way around the spirit transfer ritual. It’s an integral part of the plot, so discussion of its removal is moot.

But then why does Palpatine seem to gloat as he describes Darth Plagueis not being able to save himself from being killed? Shouldn’t he just be Plagueis?
True, but we never really see the event between Plagueis vs. Sheev Palpatine unfold only what we hear Palpatine retells to Anakin. Its possible to think things went down somewhat diffently to how hes retelling it to Anakin, and that gloating face could well be Plagueis reliving the event in his head of how he ended up posessing Sheev.
What I took out of RoS which I really liked the idea of was how it explained Palpatines “stike me down” lines both in RoS and return of the jedi. I like to think that meant that if Luke struck him down in return of the jedi with anger he would of possessed Luke the same way Rey would of been possessed if she stuck him down in RoS through the sith ritual.
I really like it too, it retcons ROTJ nicely. Instead of seeing it as Vader protecting Palpatine, I now see it as Vader protecting his son
Dam I didn’t even consider that side of it, what a cool thing to consider which shows vaders possible conflictions more so shortly after his “Its… too late for me now son” line.

I interpreted the line “I am all sith” as meaning the past sith which had been possessed in this… unnatural way.
I’m sure theres some overlapping story issues via novels\comic\sticker album somewhere that destroys all that but I personally enjoy this idea of the events.
I certainly hope for this year, yes. Just waiting on a few pieces, mostly the crackly saber.
