Time

Looking over EddieDeans The Clone Wars: Refocused spreadsheet creation for the first time!..

Just watched Prologue: Life and Death & a few of the first episodes and coming from someone that simply just couldn’t get into The Clone Wars, This way of watching them just simply works. I’ll give my full review at IFDB once I’ve finished it all. Thank you EddieDean for this 👍

Kenobi: Trials Of The Master - Fanedit by PixelJoker95

… This story is more relevant to me than TPM, honestly (of course, if told correctly).

My sentiments exactly. I could always see the intended movie behind the very padded drawn out TV series. I hope Pixeljoker is able to divert the TV shows story enough to convey a more character driven story. I’m no pro movie editor by any means but felt the need to envision what I wanted out of a Kenobi movie myself using daneditors “best of” Kenobi movie edit.

Kenobi Movie - Guardian of the Force

If Pixeljoker was to even get one idea from this collaboration edit for his Jedi master version of all Kenobi edits then that could only be a plus. 😀👍

Kenobi Movie - Guardian of the Force

This is a revised version of daneditors original: Guardian of the Force (an Obi-Wan movie edit) which looks to change the TV show back to its original intended movie story telling style. Guardian of the Force is a best of all Kenobi movie edits which uses Spence V3 as a base and comprising of all the best and popular ideas from other Kenobi movie edits from Kai Patterson, FaMe and Pentex Productions.

The main changes are the removal of the first fight with Vader, Leia getting kidnapped a second time, completely cutting fortress Inquisitorius from the story (along with its many issues!) as well as addressing Revas story arc. All this reworked into a tighter and more compelling storyline within a movie length edit.

The main additions I’ve added to daneditors original version are:

 • Slightly brightened the original drab TV shows colour
 • Tightened the Tatooine planet transition after the intro crawl
 • Cutting from Anakins “I hate you” in the dream scene to Kenobi waking up
 • Darkened the broken Lola scene some more to hide the added mask by daneditor
 • Rearranged and slightly trimmed the headless Jedi hanging scene
 • Removed Reva stepping over a “dead” grand Inquisitor and then her running up and standing right next to the ship which Kenobi and Leia are leaving on.
 • Removed Kenobi flashing his blaster to the audience as he hops off the vehicle at the stormtrooper checkgate as well as zoomed the screen in to remove seeing his blaster pointing at the stormtroopers while hes on the floor right before Tala shoots the stormtroopers.
 • Showed less of Kenobis ship dodging blasts while being pursued by Vaders ship
 • Added the end scene of the Anakin vs Kenobi flashback training fight into the scene where Kenobi is under the rubble and pitched Anakins voice to sound like him from the prequels to better match the de-aged Anakin scenes.

PM me if interested 😉

Just wanted to pop in and say that the integration of the shamook deepfakes for Tarkin and Leia is ASTOUNDINGLY GOOD. It’s not a complete departure from the uncanny valley, but my god, does it look miles better than the theatrical versions of those two characters. Comparing the two is like night and day. Truly awesome work Hal and those who helped integrate the footage!

… Some looped music can be quite unnerving, the worst example is chapter 32 of The Order of the Phoenix (Out of the fire).

Admittedly that chapters background music loop for The Order of the Phoenix can be a bit distacting by having music that finishes with a climatic finish every 40 seconds for over 10 mins. Small criticism for an otherwise perfect fanedit.

I’m sorry to hear that. I’m not exactly sure which part it’s in.

Its The Order of the Phoenix Chapter 32 - Out of the Fire for the first 10 mins or so but again no big issue just a little distacting is all.

Rescoring tends to result in the new score having to be too loud - I’ve heard this in other edits as well, because you have to drown out the remnants of the original score. So it’s just not worth doing in most cases. But I agree that the score is pretty mediocre, like it has been for other recent Disney Star Wars stuff.

Agree

If you think the Grand Inquisitor is bad here you definitely don’t want to watch the full series.

Very true 😂

daneditor said:
I cut nearly all of his and Reva’s scenes. If he remained dead then Reva would have no arc at all, as presumably it would mean cutting the scene where she and Vader fight.

Your’ve got the right amount of screentime for the characters down to tell the story but it might benefit to remove that scene of the grand Inquisitor lying lifeless on the ground after Reva uses her saber on him as it just confuses things more later when hes back alive.

Glad that you liked it. 😃 Being able to cut the underwater base scenes/the second Leia rescue plot really helps the pacing of the movie IMO.

Found you Dan, 😁
The removal of the problematic inquisitor base antics was the main appeal for me and edited in a cleaver way keeping the story going plus the no second Leia rescue plot is a bonus. By piecing the best bits from the now many Kenobi fanedit movies this is my go to for watching Kenobi now 😃👍.

Note: Only the color-corrected version of this fanedit will now be available

See DH Part 1 and 2 for changes for v2.1. For combined film:

• Moved scene of Snape looking over Hogwarts to earlier in the DH1 portion of the film. This establishes him as the new headmaster. It also goes along with the various other scenes around it (Death Eaters looking for Harry, a Ministry official searching the Grainger’s home).
• Moved where Voldemort gets the Elder Wand to between when the three are captured in the woods and when they are delivered to Malfoy Manor. The time of day/skylines seems to match better than leaving it after Dobby dies. It also allows for a straight story between Malfoy Manor, the death and burial of Dobby, and the scenes at Shell Cottage. This edit has been the most controversial of the ones I made. Some of the test viewers did not like Voldemort finding the wand so much earlier. I felt it was necessary to make the story less disjointed.
• Blending of the scenes where Dobby dies, is buried, and the story transitions to Shell Cottage. I felt this was the best way to complete the blending of movies 1 and 2 together.

Fanedit Name: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Extended Edition v2.1
Fanedit Runtime: 2:20:43

v2.1 Change List:

• Warning screen added to the beginning of the film.

• Adjusted coloring on the scene as Newt/Jacob go to see the snakes.
• Adjusted audio in the added scene of Credence tearing up the city and Newt showing up at the police barricade.

v1.5 Change List:

• Added scene where Tina takes Newt to the MACUSA president and is turned away.
• Added scene where Jacob’s fiance gives back the engagement ring.
• Added scene where Newt and Jacob are in the case with the multi-headed snakes. Adjusted previous dialogue since some lines are also in this scene.

DonKamillo's - The Batman: Year Two Miniseries
Time

DonKamillo’s 4 part mini series fanfix of the The Batman movie is exactly how it should be watched. 😎👌

The Graphic Novel Experience you have been waiting for…

About The Edit:

This fan edit splits up The Batman (2022) movie into a four episode miniseries, making the 3 hour epic more digestible and providing a Graphic Novel type experience. The narrative changes slightly with little cuts here and there, some rearranged and re-scored scenes, a deleted scene added back in and a new ending.
Intention:
Despite its flaws, I liked the movie quite a lot. However to me the structure of the movie didn’t feel like a traditional three act story but more akin to a graphic novel. Like a collection of multiple comic issues, each chapter tells a complete little story in of itself, while simultaneously adding more and more pieces to the bigger puzzle which makes up the overarching story. That’s why I felt splitting up the movie into four episodes would enhance The Batman Experience.

SpenceEdit said:

Hey! Thanks, there’s some really great feedback here.

Octorox said:

So I finally got a chance to sit down and watch V2. Overall I think it’s a big improvement, and as close to a perfect “movie length” rendition as you can get. That said, I do still have some quibbles. In particular, I think there are a few lines and scenes where either a setup or payoff is removed, so they don’t land as well as they should. I feel like 5-10 more minutes of breathing room, which would put the overall length in the ballpark of The Last Jedi, would really be the sweet spot.

The goal was always under 2 and a half hours, so I do have a bit of wiggle room.

Octorox said:
-When Leia tells her father that “she’s not a real Organa”, we no longer have the context of it being something Leia was told by her cousin that she internalized. In this new context, it seems like it was Leia’s original thought, which imo doesn’t quite add up. I personally don’t mind Leia’s precocious reading of her cousin because I interpreted it as an example of her latent Force ability. I wonder if there’s any way you could reinstate some of that scene, at least enough to get the original context of the line back.

In all honesty, I tried to get through it all as briefly as possible, as the only scene in that whole Leia intro that’s really essential is her conversation with Bail. I may have overcorrected. I’ll play with it.

Octorox said:
-when Reva stabs the Grand Inquisitor in the chest, she says “who’s in the gutter now?” Unfortunately the original line spoken to Reva by the Grand Inquisitor about “finding her in the gutter” has been cut, so this no longer makes much sense. It’s repeated by The Grand Inquisitor again at the end, and there it feels like it’s calling back to something that we no longer hear.

-In Fortress Inquisitorius, Tala says something to the effect of “what are they hiding down there” but we no longer have the payoff of the Jedi tomb scene. I would just trim this line out if possible.

Both of these things have already been corrected for the next version.

Octorox said:
-Tala’s death feels like it carries significantly less weight without her relaying her full history with the Empire in a heart to heart with Obi-Wan. Her character has a reduced presence overall, and while I think you were smart to cut a lot of the antics in the Fortress Inquisitorius, I feel like this scene should have stayed.

-When we see Leia dress up with her boots and holster at the end, it no longer mirrors her introductory scene. I was glad you reinstated her scene in the woods but I still missed this parallel, which showed the character’s growth in how she feels about her role as a representative of Alderaan.

Respectfully, I think these scenes feel like their missing only because you know they exist. If we weren’t aware they existed, it wouldn’t feel off to not include them. That’s my justification for it anyway.

Octorox said:
-In this cut, the fact that Reva is behind Leia’s kidnapping is now revealed when Obi-Wan learns it. I think this is a smart change, but I wonder if something about the score or the editing could be tweaked to really underline the fact that this is a reveal to the audience.

Maybe a more dramatic musical beat here? That could help.

Octorox said:
-At around 1 hours and 37 minutes in, Roken mouths a line but it can’t be heard. I assume this is just an editing mistake.

Not sure what happened on that one. I’ll look at it.

Octorox said:

-Obi-Wan digs up his and Anakin’s lightsabers: I would like to see if this scene could be incorporated without intercutting it with Reva. It’s a nice call forward to the saber’s final resting place in Rise of Skywalker
-Obi-Wan sees a Clone Wars vet begging on the street (this is so short that I can’t imagine it would significantly impact the runtime to reinstate it)

Yeah, I miss that scene too. I feel like it kind of needs to be there. Maybe just that bit with a new musical queue? Could be a good opportunity to throw some classic JW in there.

Octorox said:
-Haja’s whole “Fake Jedi” dog and pony show. I feel like his status as a huckster doesn’t quite land as clearly in this edit.

Personally, I think we got enough of him being silly and using the magnets to sell it. That portion of the movie needs to move at a higher pace, so I don’t see this going back in.

Octorox said:
-For whatever reason, I felt the absence of Obi-Wan packing up his stuff in his cave at the end. I really liked the symbolic aspect of him getting a fresh start by moving to a new home.

This is (partially) added back in for the next version.

Octorox said:

-In the scene where Reva explains that she put a tracker on Kenobi’s ship, I feel like you can cut after Vader says “it seems I have underestimated you”. Maybe end on a self-assured looking reaction shot of Reva if possible. The scene feels a little too drawn out right now, especially since you’ve cut most other bickering between the Inquisitors.

This is a great suggestion. I’ll see if I can make it work.

Octorox said:
Also I felt like there were a couple other instances where familiar JW themes could have been used:
-I wanted to hear the leitmotif from Battle of the Heroes somewhere. I feel like there are a couple callbacks to that fateful duel where it could have been slotted in. Not the full choir, just a few notes.
-it would have been nice to hear Qui-Gon’s theme when he finally appears.
-As for OT themes, I think you could have used The Rebel Fanfare when the T-47s come to the rescue, and Luke’s theme when Obi-Wan finally gets to meet him. For all of these themes, I would use just a hint and not the most forceful statement. There are quite a few bits of score in the saga films where they are used more subtly.

I actually tried a couple of those, the biggest issue is the muddy center channel. I’d have to rebuild a lot of sound effects to make these work. Though I do feel like we, at minimum, need another Williams track or two in there.

Thanks again for the detailed notes!

Quality edit overall Spence, Octorox summarized most of what I felt and I completely agree with your comments here, also adding a crawl was mentioned in a post here but feel title crawls are only needed for the main movies and not so much for the A Star Wars Story films.
My additions would be:

 • More John Williams score throughout
 • Adding back the stormtroopers on the truck at Mapuzo but with a wipe to show time has passed before they get off.
 • Cutting the wide shots at the trooper checkpoint to not show the massive gaps at the sides making the lazer gate redundant.
 • Adding Obi vs Anakin flashbacks and splitting it to dream sequence on Tatioone & in backer tanks.
 • Axing the fortress completely and making it seem Leia is in a more local rebal base on Mapuzo.

Have you looked at kai pattersons kenobi edit as he has some really good ideas you might want to consider using.

Not often main-stream media talks about a fan edit. IGN, ScreenRant, Variety, and others have all done an article on Kai Patterson’s Obi-Wan Fan Edit. He cut it down to a 2 & a half hour movie. He removed the goofy stuff with Leia being chased by bumbling grown men. Rearranges the Jedi scene on Tatooine so Obi-Wan meets the Jedi first, the Inquisitors kill him in the bar (he doesn’t escape), and then Obi-Wan sees him hanging in the city. he also gives Obi-Wan a good reason to let Vader live after their second duel. What I like the most is the John Williams Star Wars music added throughout.

I am also really excited to check it out - albeit not for any interest in the story, but rather just to see how he fixed some of the problems from an editing standpoint. I’ve seen amazing fan edits do wonders for the original material and the SW community always keeps them coming.

I’m keen to compare it to Spencers Kenobi movie edit.
