Info & Offer: Star Wars Faces Fullscreen VHS2DVD, would anyone want?
Time
I trust Molly is already familiar with the Pan_and_Scan concept.

I'm not sure whether she's aware that during her hiatus from these boards dark_jedi has already preserved this set.

Many of us old-timers already have that version. Had it not already been preserved, I suspect more people would have expressed interest in this kind offer.

Molly, are your versions progressive? Have they been IVTC'ed ?

You're right. Software is required. That software is called an operating system.
I should have said you don't need any additional software, besides an OS, to copy unencrypted files from DVD to hard drive.

Of course you're free to use whatever additional software(s) you desire.
Some of them (apparently DVD2One) might change the files even though the files don't need to be changed (don't need to be decrypted, don't need to be shrunk).
Some (like Nero) might change the files without telling you and without touching the files' modification date/time.
(That was an older version of Nero I tried. Maybe they've fixed that bug by now.)
If cloning the original files isn't your goal, then feel free to ignore everything I write.

Don't let me ruffle your feathers. Although I'm not dowloading these, it's nice of you to offer them for those who want 'em.

"software" ?
Yikes!

Using <software> is neccesary to back up an encrypted retail DVD,
but <software> isn't needed (nor desirable IMHO) for duplicating a fan-made preservation project.
Too often using <software> results in a copy that's not a clone.

Help: looking for... Belbucus PCM for ANH, ESB, ROTJ
Time
ANH '93 has been (re)posted to a.b.starwars.

I've used WavPack this time around for better (lossless) compression than simply RARing the WAV.
Unlike FLAC, WavPack preserves the extra RIFF chunks (bext, minf, elmo, regn, ovwf & umid) present in the original WAV from Belbucus.
Unless you also use ProTools audio software as Belbucus did, those extra chunks probably won't mean anything to you.
Nevertheless, I want to redistribute the files exactly as I received them.

APE also retains the extra RIFF chunks, but I like WavPack's open-source licensing terms better that Monkey's.

I did seed it for 3 weeks. Hardly anyone downloaded it from me so when it had been idle for a week, I took it down. Would still like to do something a little more ambitious.
That was Dr.M's RTW, was it not?
Citizen's would have been more ambitious, but I suppose it's water under the bridge now.

I for one am not very interested in any SE version. Not even ones which "no longer exist."
Fan editors might well disagree with me of course.

Yes you'll need an converter to go from RCA, but it isn't called mini-DIN -- it's called a mini phone plug, or one-eighth inch stereo phone plug.

It is commonly used on headphones today, although the name "phone plug" doesn't refer to headphones ('phones).
The name comes from the larger one-fourth inch plugs formerly used by telephone switchboard operators (and still used today e.g. in electric guitars.)

So encoding a DTS track with the mono track as the centre channel will be accurate as how it was played in cinemas, correct? I'd venture to guess it varied from one cinema to the next. Some might have played through a single speaker above or behind the screen, others might have used the speakers at the front of the room, and I'll bet some cinemas played the single channel through every speaker in the room.

4 channel? No centre speaker?
Yes one centre and only one rear channel.
For a modern home theatre using ProLogic decoder I guess you'd hear the single rear channel from both rear speakers.
