I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Good interview Harmy.
I’ve thought about this a lot. And I realized that had the prequels not focused on anakin and Obi-wan, or shown in some capacity the fall of Darth Vader, people would have been immensely disappointed. Even if they were great films, we all maybe would have liked them, but been disappointed that we didn’t get what we had all been hoping for and imagining for 20 years.
I am getting near the end. Lots of technical stuff at this point.
I’ll download one of the high res packs for the poster art as redo the struzan variant. If the general consensus is no new leia then I’ll keep the original leia, but I like the Death Star added on there. I think it blends well and fills in some dead space in that lower right corner.
Negative1 needs to put his petty bs aside. I always felt like mverta was a tad hard on the guy, but I guess he just knew him better than we all did because it certainly does seem to be that he wants to be “the guy” a lot more than he wants Star Wars back.
I think the whole point of Starkiller Base was to set the grounds so that the Resistence and the First Order were on equal footing in terms of government for the remainder of the trilogy.
But this could easily have been done if they had just set up that following ROTJ, the galaxy was divided between the new republic and the remnants of the Empire. I’m not sure an edit could accomplish this, as it should have been done early in the conceptual stages of making the film, but if one could establish that Leia is leading the army of the New Republic and the First Order is the just the remnants of the Empire, controlling the other half of the galaxy, then one could cut out the Starkiller base entirely and make the end battle a fight to try and retrieve the other half of the map to Luke, which would be in the hands of the First Order by that point in the film.
More a rewrite than an edit idea, but the thought just came to me and I thought I would share.
I’m not sure? Did you download the actual file or are you just looking at the compressed preview on drive?
It looks pretty sharp on the file on my computer. I did have to do some funky things to get the new Leia to blend in so it looks (mostly) like it belongs with the surrounding art, because that was just a photograph which I took from the 04 DVD cover. I did this because the image of Leia on the actual Struzan art is clearly not the Leia from SW and is (I think) the Leia from Empire. So it might look slightly soft in that area, but overall it looks pretty sharp to my eyes. You may notice I also added the Death Star into the bottom right corner, but that blended even better than Leia I think. I did the main design of this some time ago, this final version is just updating the proportions to make it fit a 14mm spine bluray case, but I remember using the highest res version of this art that I could find.
TV’s Frink how do you sleep at night picking on other people does it make you feel Superior.
How do you sleep at night cluttering up the thread? Does it make you feel Huron?

Here are the final versions of the covers. They are sized to fit 4 disc 14mm BluRay cases. I printed off one to make sure they fit and they fit nicely.

Hey I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m just saying today’s audiences wouldn’t accept a teaser that was just a slideshow of new images. Crazy how times have changed.
Now that TFA’s on home video and we can properly examine, I must say I LOVE the gate weave (or whatever you might call it) applied to the all the titles.
As soon as I got the bluray and the credits started to roll, my family thought I was crazy because I leapt out if my seat and ran up two inches away from the tv to look to see if there was gate weave hahahaha
Could you imagine if studios could still get away with doing picture slideshows for their teasers? Haha
Wish I had more to contribute, but I’m afraid most of my comments here are just similar “you’re an amazing wizard, DrDre” comments. Keep it up 😃

It is cinemascope, so it is twice the height, you can reduce by 50% to get it to the correct size. I didn’t want to do that and potentially lose stars.
Right click to view full size.
Thanks for the clarification haha that’s what I suspected but I didn’t want to assume.
You are in luck, I hadn’t unloaded Reel1 yet to get back to THX.
Here is a quick extraction, the planet is probably a bit messed up by the stacking algorithm, but the stars are what you after, so I hope this is of use.
I won’t get back to this for months, so if it isn’t, then it will be a while till I can get to it again

Is the whole thing stretched out or is it just the planet and moon?
If not though I understand and I’m sure we could just stitch your top half together with our bottom halves.
Exactly what I meant. Thank you towne32 haha
Thanks Poita.
I hate to mention it since you are so busy, but that is the top half of what we see. The frame right before the blockade runner shows up has the rest of the starfield as well as the moons and planet. Both are needed to properly render the starfield.
That image did help me get rid of some ghost stars and add in a few that weren’t in my other sources. So big thanks.
Yeah if you could find the time to get the bottom of the pan down also, it would be enormously helpful.
If not though I understand and I’m sure we could just stitch your top half together with our bottom halves.
What have I done.
I only just saw this now. If anyone wants an isolated starfield from an actual 1981 print, I can probably extract a clean one.
I haven’t got time to spend on it now, so here is a quick extraction, but it may not be complete/may have some film damage, I only spent 15 mins on it.
Umm… Yes please! I’m sure yotsuya and I would both LOVE an isolated starfield. Would definitely save the trouble of worrying about our accuracy.
Great news!
I agree that video quality is more important than bonus features.
I haven’t looked at all the discs yet, but I think the solution should depends on how much space the bonus material takes up. If it could be 3x feature BD25s and 1x bonus disc, that sounds good to me. If it would be 3x bonus discs, I think it would be a much better decision to use 3x BD50s than have a 6-disc set.
Yeah if I were you I would consider a bonus disc. The film itself takes up so much space and even with just the film, nothing else, at BD25, you’re already most likely sacrificing some quality, so you’ll want as much space as possible.
Were you able to get the dts audio working with encore? I’m curious how you got around that since you seem to be foreign to the multiAVCHD process. This has been the biggest hurdle with my BD project.
Having read Lost Stars, all I think about here is the character of Jude.
It always seemed to me that R2 woke up because Luke basically told him “don’t reveal the map until the time is right”
Which was a good enough explanation for me.
3PO’s like about how it’s very unlikely r2 would have the map in his backup data or something like that did irk me though. I watch it and think “really? Why not just check to be safe? Wouldn’t hurt to look.”
Sorry for lack of updates. It’s largely technical stuff at this point so no sense in boring you all with that.
