STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

I’ll have to agree with Frink here. I’m usually the one preaching patience with people, but after its become clear that this guy is either trolling, or completely incapable of understanding something without asking a question over and over again, or making an unecessary post about it, patience starts to run out.

Star Wars Custom Blu Ray Saga Set (a WIP)
Time

Well the “saga editions” are just placeholders for the 2011 versions. I don’t think I’ll be using kk650’s versions anywhere simply because this set is supposed to be a compilation of the various official versions (at least where there are major, noticeable differences between them) with all of their inherent flaws. Fan edits and unofficial versions won’t be included except in a few cases of supplemental material (Star Wars begins & the extended versions)

I actually have a rough version of the bluray cover for TPM almost done, so maybe I’ll post that in a bit while I’m working on other stuff.

Thought I’d share how it’s going. It’s definitely getting there. Using the Mike Verta technique to minimize the color noise not only makes color correction easier, it has the added benefit of making the frame seem a lot cleaner as well.

Grading here not final. Needs probably another few passes, but overall, I think I’m headed in the right direction.

Since I know people are going to ask/comment, there is a very small amount of desaturation added to the star destroyer, but 80-90% of that desaturated look is from the process that got rid of those color blobs.

ok what about the shots of could city also is he updating other cg se shots?

jedimasterobiwan, rest assured that the many enhancements/fixes/adjustments/improvements/etc. that are being done throughout each of the ‘cloud city’ scenes are going to blend the existing cgi SE shots into a far better ‘update’ overall.

There’s too many to list, but I think many will find the existing SE pretty much unwatchable after seeing ESB:R.

so the cg effects won’t look like they’re made in the 90s

Here’s an idea. Watch the trailer. Read through this thread. It’s not everyone’s responsibility to muddle the thread to provide you with readily available answers to your questions that you’re just too lazy to look for.

Chicago politics. And locals apparently don’t want what they perceive to be a big ugly building going up in the area.

I’ve been to Chicago. I have family there. It is 99.9% “big ugly buildings” and like one nice area. Can’t imagine what the locals have to complain about a pretty cool looking museum being built there.

Despecialized mono soundtracks remixed to stereo

Well that’s the worst possible then… Ouch. Seriously, just listen to it in mono, fake stereo is cancer.

Are you sure it’s not an abortion?

When used in an ambiguous sense, cancer can be used to describe anything which spreads within something else and is damaging. But that still isn’t really applicable to mono-stereo conversions, so I’m not really sure what the intent was.

After gathering a bunch of references, it looks as if the earliest examples of the film have a greenish tint to them. I actually had to reduce the green of the bootleg to balance the colors somewhat:
Comparison
And here’s the attempt with a single set of adjustments:
Green and pink
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/176880
And with slightly less yellow:
Less Yellow
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/176882
Finally one that has less green in the shadows:
Less Green
http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/176886

I have no idea which one is more correct.

The answer really is none of them are “more correct” since no two prints we’re exactly alike. It’s a photochemical process, so the colors were slightly different from print to print, and then the color changed even more depending on how it was projected. We can certainly gain an idea of how the colors in general were, but nobody (not even mike verta with all of his material and reference) can know for sure what the colors were originally on the negative. All we can do is make some inferences based on what little reference we have to get in the ballpark, and use our own judgement of what looks right.

While yes, there may be a bit too much yellow (in the star destroyer, mostly), I think this might be about the best attempt yet.

I don’t think that there’s any getting away from the yellow in the star destroyer without making Tatooine too blue, unfortunately.

Unless one were to mask around the elements to adjust the colors independent of each other, which is commonly done in situations like this in professional restorations, but may go against the spirit of this project.

I don’t think it is against the spirit of the project. Recompositing elements from the bluray would be, but here we are just talking about isolating elements and color correcting them independently.

I mean I can certainly do that in after effects if you’d like. It would definitely produce something more pleasing to the eye. I just figured you’d prefer the whole frame corrected together for the sake of purity or something haha.

The Force Awakens: Official Review Thread - ** SPOILERS **
Time

So yesterday I talked to a guy who worked on some of the effects in TFA. (Notably, he did the crawl)
He confirmed that there were some differences between the theatrical cuts in the US versus overseas. He said some of the smaller effects were not entirely finished when the film was shipped. He didn’t get into specifics but for one instance. The holographic map to Luke. He stated that in some version (I believe he says the UK version) it did not have a line showing the path to Luke and was just the map itself. In other places around the world the line was orange, and in some the line was red.

He said that the 2D, United States theatrical version is what ended up on the bluray.
