Changes in 2004 DVDs
Time
Well, I am using 5.1 EX setup...and it can't be much better than mine. The audio quality during the film varies substantially depending on the channel being used, but for the most part it seems like a complete fuck up. For instance, you can hear Han talking to Leia on the Falcon and it'll sound crystal clear (incredible quality) and then it'll sound all muffled and like it's coming from an old ass record player or something. I had to listen to it off the tv it was so distracting. However, the other films sound fine.

Star Wars DVD Music Mix Botched!!
Time
Just an observation, not really a problem. In Empire, when Luke ignites his saber in the carbon freezing chamber they use the alternate activation sound (from Jedi) rather than what was there before. It was actually pretty weird hearing it because I'm so use to how it's always sounded. Like I said before, A New Hope's entire audio mix is messed up. Something that was just friggin retarded to me was when the door closes in Mos Eisley (3PO says "You watch your language") and the surrounds are used for the closing thud...it just made no sense. I don't know.

StarWars.com wants us to show them our DVDs.

Well what can I do when Lucas doesn't release the originals on a DVD player compatible format? Those VCDs came from a comics/cd shop. I had no idea what versions they were. What can I say? It's tough to be a Star wars fan these days...

And that magazine from Best Buy is complete fluff. It seems to me that the contents should've been included in the individual DVD cases.

P.S. I dont have 5.1 for my main dvd player, but when I watch the films on my computer this problem seems very obvious, and I am completely uninformed when it comes to this kind of stuff. I mean, its not even a matter of comparing it to the older versions. Its just flat out obviously bad.

Oh yeah, it really is horrible. And then there's the new Krayt Dragon sound. Just what in the fuck was that?

I have a subscription. I'm all for this.

On a side note, I'd just like to point out how much of a fucking pain Hyperspace proved to be. My father, knowing of course that I'm a Star Wars fan, subscribed me to the club out of good faith. Low and behold they send me the very issue of Insider that I used to subscribe. The fuck? He screwed me out of 5 bucks!

The DVD's........Man!!!

I think hes just referring to the sound that it's made since the SE. A shitload of people have said there are other new audio editions...that were unbeknownst to them there all along. Like when the Stormtrooper talks before saying "Alright well check it out." That was always there, it was just garbled. You're simply hearing things more clearly...albeit, a littled fuckery has occured with the music and Tarkin scene.
