The Persecution Season is Heating Up

I find it ironic that Christianity has been responsible for some of the biggest religious persecutions the world has ever known, and now that the tables have turned, all they do is bitch and moan about it.

I'm sorry, but this is the whole point. People in the Western World are finally, supposedly, free to practice ANY faith they want, and yet peaceful, well-meaning Christians are told they're hate mongers. If you want to blame persecutions of the past on modern Christians, are you ready to say all athiests are like Joseph Stalin? Are you ready to say all Muslims are like Hussein? I sincerely hope not.

So what if you can't display the nativity scene on government property? Boo hoo. Does that make your faith somehow diminished? I guarantee that if some group tried to put Jewish or other religious icons on government property the Christian religious right in this country would be all over getting rid of that.

If this was going on, I'm sure an element of the far right would. However, I would point out that of the late-in-the-year religious festivals. Christmas is unique in being a national holiday in America.

Maybe you should stop being all "woah is me" for a minute and realize that maybe not everyone in the world is Christian, and maybe your way of viewing things isn't the only way to do it.

Oh my gosh! You mean we're not the only people in the world! I never would have guessed this! Thank you for enlightening me.

Key word being most. Most rational people of any political persuasion, and probably most irrational ones, realize this is ridiculous. But there are elements in the United States who promote secularism at any cost, even the cost of common sense. I'm sure Brazil has them too, even if they're not as vocal.

No seriously, it's certainly not perfect, but I just don't see how it qualifies as lousy.

Hiro is freakin' awesome, Claire is fun to watch and most of the characters are interesting if not exactly likeable people. (I've not seen the most recent episode, so don't spoil anything.)

The only character I really dislike is Nikki, or more specifically, I dislike how helpless they've made her against her alter ego. This is something I see more as a flaw in the writing than any fault of Ali Larter, though.

Happy Thanksgiving

One Year Later....

Batgirl: So you see, Robin, even though I was a decent person who fought for justice one year ago, not to mention functionally illiterate and severly dislexic, this past year has changed me a lot. I'm now the head of the League of Assassins, very eloquent, and know not only how to give long speeches about genetic destiny; I've also learned to write in English and translate that writing into Navajo code. Now, please help me to murder my father despite the oath to never take a human life that you've sworn to Batman and join me in a new wave of crime and other fun stuff. You know. Since Bruce uses the fact that you wear bright red to make you a target and all, and never really cared for you. Just like Frank Miller says. Did you know Batman wanted to make Nightwing eat rats his first night in the Cave?

Robin: OMGWTFBBQ...!

NOT THAT ONE YEAR LATER!

Happy Thanksgiving, people!

I disagree. When I leave, unless I die, I'll post something explaining the reason for it. But some members here are transforming their so called frustration with this forum with absolutely lame forum trolling of the worst kind - and someone who behaves like that has NO reason to complain about anything related to a forum or community. Some members here should be glad they are able to post a "good bye thread" instead of just being banned.

Indeed, Ric. There's a difference in a legitimate explanation of abscence, permanent or otherwise, and what Sean did here.

After thinking it over last night, I've decided that if Sean really hates this place so much now, why do we want him here? I've nothing agaisnt the guy personally, or either this or the other web-site. But Sean's remained bitter ever since the split, when most of us just want to move on and forget about it.

1. Contact the mods. There's no point in leaving the forum because one user is flaming people.

2. Sean. The First Amendment ONLY APPLIES TO THE GOVERNMENT. Jay can censor whatever he wants at his own website. Not that I agree with it, but he's not violated the constitution.

3. Ask Jay to make someone else a mod. This is one of my home-pages--I'm here everytime I open up Firefox. I'm sure several others would do it.

4. No denying this, but it was in decline long before the schism.

5. TheCassidy is still here.

6. And your leaving will help this how?

Wii wins. Period. This console is going to dominate the market for this generation. This is quite possibly the greatest console...ever. I don't think I've ever been this blown away by a new console. It's just....WOW!

I must have one.

....I need to see if WalMart or Rhino has a Kiosk where I can play it...

If not I might have to drive to Johnson City.
