Dude, where's the General Lee?

The main issue of the Civil War was states rights, the degree to which the federal government could boss the states around. The right to make slavery laws was one of the issues, but there were others, including the tarrif. The main cause was sectionalism: that is that parts of the country considerd themselves more important than the nation as a whole. Had slavery been the only issue, the War probably wouln't have been fought till much later in our history. After the war had allready broke out, Lincoln shifted the main issue to slavery with the Emancipation Proclamation, which had absolutely no physical effect on the Southern slaves until after the war. Again, I don't belive slavery is right. But I refuse to bow to the politically correct PoV just becasue it's expected.

And the Rebel flag has nothing to do with slavery. When I see a Rebel flag, hate for black people or a desire to enslave them is not what comes to mind, and if that's what people think it means, then they don't understand the average southerner.

The New Jedi Order - book series
Time
Eh..

No one really expected good covers for the NJO. They are almost all horrible and/or have nothing to do with the books.

Remember "Jedi Eclipse" ?? From the cover, you would think from the cover that Han Solo teamed up with a Vong. The only good covers are the Edge of Victory and Enemy Lines, which happen to be my favorite books in the series anyway.

The movies seem fine to me. I was reffering to the quality. It is very grainy and washed out. There are quite a few scenes where you can't tell where Vader's cape ends and the shadows behind him begins.

I got the tapes for Christmas in 1997. And they've deteriorated much more than anyone had expected in seven years.

Sorry, that was really bad. I'm full of awful jokes.

Anywho, that is why I am looking forward to the DVDs. And so I can skip the akursed Jedi Rocks.

On to the politically incorrect version of Dukes Of Hazzard, I hope it is. I'd hate to think that the moral crusaders have won and the 70 percent of us who live in fear of that outspoken 30 percent have lost our right to enjoy whatever the shell we like just because some sour-mouthed, horn-rimmed glasses wearing spinsters disagree with it.

Rant off.

its not the conservatives that are going to be upset it's the African American groups that will be offended. To them(and I can't say I blame them), the rebel flag stands for slavery. And from their point of view(again I can't say I blame them) General Lee lead the fight to try to preserve slavery. At the time the show was on it was acceptable, but in our more politically correct age I don't think it will be quite as acceptable.

The Rebel flag doesn't stand for slavery. Slavery wasn't even the main issue of the American Civil War. Now don't get me wrong, I don't agree with slavery, but complaining about a Rebel Flag on a car is stupid.

Besides; The rebel flag is just a cool design.
